In another thread I mentioned how I had difficulty with my landings. I didnt have a problem on my first few jumps. Stood up most of them (quick sudden full flare), but as soon as I read my CH1/CH2 manual and attempted 2 stage flares, its all gone to rat shit. Havent stood one up since. I think there must be an art to it but someone did say the big student canopies dont respond well to long drawn out flares (but they might just be saying that to make me feel better). Either way, when one is next available and I got the cash I shall be signing up for one of Chris Lynch's Wingtips seminars

I think someone that puts total faith in something they believe in - to the extent that they are preapared to die for it is brave. Might not like the circumstances, but they are brave IMO But then there is a fine line between brave & fanatical

If there was an immediate threat on my country from someone else. Be it the 'reds' or even you yanks - yeah Id sign up to defend my island. I always thought it was funny how years ago people would sign up and do there bit and even lie about there age and now they cant find enough people! I might be the training shoe generation but Id still whack on my boots and go into service

I dont mean to embarass myself by asking a silly question but is there some truth in that? In the same way that by wearing ear defenders you cant hear very loud noises but you can hear someone talking to you? I hope I havent made myself look very silly

I had some tablets after an operation once, was co-codamel or something like that. Any medical people in the house? Anyway it containes Codeine and if you took one it was good, two couldnt feel a thing. And if you took three everything was numb and was kinda like floating on air. Think they are only available on prescription though!

I deliberatley set my PRO-dytter lower than any of my working height so I should have completed jump and deployed by then. This way I dont become self reliant and lazy and get into bad habbits. I am altitude aware without it but its always good to have something as a back up. I consulted my instructors before getting one and they were fine with it if used in the circumstances I have done. Normaly just as canopy is inflating I hear the first sound which is set at 4k (I pull at 4.5k) I think the confusion with audible alarm was that mine is a Pro-Dytter so when im under canopy I hear no alarms. Or shouldnt

I used to climb onto the arms of the sofa and jump in the air and land in the middle for fun. Except one time, climbing up the arm of the chair I slipped and insted of falling onto the chair I fell into the glass coffee table head first and nearly cut my lip off. Still. These surgeons are pretty awesome!

Never done it before. Only on hop n pop. I deploy at 4.5k now and the first limit is set at 4k so I hear that as chute is deploying. If I been in decent freefall the other sounds dont go off once im under canopy

Yeah, when you pass out youll go all limp anyway and the landing will be fine. Kinda like when a drunk falls down the stairs

Dont bother taking it on a hop n pop! I took mine for one and it didnt get chance to calibrate itself into freefall mode and recognise when Id deployed properly so under canopy whenever I went to those levels it was deafening me! Haha (This was Lv 8 HnP so left @5k)

I got little bits and pieces first. Altimeter, gloves, helmet etc. During training it was expensive so didnt want to waste too much on kit for sake of jumping. Now I got a rig on order which will be really cool and due to waiting times by the time it arrives I should be ready to progress
