Yeah, I think I agree, I find myselfy doing some basic stretches while im kitting up. But I think its more a mental preperation than a physical one. Just interested how other people act.

Nice one mate, cant find the video on Skydiving movies though, anyone got a link?
-
Welcome aboard. And yeah. Id love to get into it as a career too, but thats everyones dream. Hobby as a job. Wow! Anyway, ive got nothing left to sacrifice. I already sold my car and bought a cheaper one to get me money for a rig Also, where you from?

Just read another jumpers post about getting cramp and made me realise. Ive never seen anyone warm up for a skydive. Now to me, it is quite athletic and no matter what discipline you do its not an extremely natural body position to adopt. Wonderining how many of you do warm. I suspect likely to get more YESs from people that compete. Could reduce some silly injuries. Like me hurting my ankle a lil bit in botched landing other day, and also make you better skydiver by increasing your flexibility. What do you think or already do?

Private jet mate.. you wanna control the borders, you need to send fighter jets to intercept em.... hmmmm, now theres an idea
-
I didnt mean, phsyically get out of the rig in the tunnel. That would be daft But by adopting the flying positions in the tunnel, you could identify accurately where there are weaknesses. LIke for example. I see the sit fly video posted. Kinda scary but thats not accurate body position. In the tunnel you can actually observe things and because your not gonna be deploying theres no need to be smashing things. I just think, the reason wind tunnels were ever invented was as a developmental or scientific purpose. Maybe weve forgot along the way and just like to play in em F1 cars, aircraft etc are all tested in windtunnels because its controlled environment and its safe. You could also use it to test the proposed modifications on rigs to see if it does reduce the 'holes'

The war supporters. What are our troops dying for?
Scoop replied to Darius11's topic in Speakers Corner
I think that the real reason was because we (UK/US etc) see Iraq as a major threat. A developing country that was lead by a vicious dictator that was responsible for horrible events. I think it was neccesary for him to be taken out, one way or another. The reasons given werent neccesarily correct but the ultimate conclusion is what was needed. And while are troops, who are probably mostly my age or younger are over there. Im gonna support them. Last thing they need in situations like that is returning and everyone telling them what they are fighting for is wrong -
Hi, probably seen me lurking round asking few questions. Well I shall be buying a second hand rig tomorrow (subject to good inspection) Im 200lb minus kit, with a 230 Sabre 2 (only 30 jumps) what sort of performace can I expect. I dont have any issues with the size, instructors have approved it. Rigger just wants to inspect it first. I really love the canopy ride but these damn manta 280s are just too slow! Is this gonna be a nice improvement for me. I have no interest in swooping and that stuff because that shit gets you hurt (and im scared of heights, so im nervous on approach anyway) I would like to know if with practice I can be carving up the sky (with plenty of air between me and the ground) and maybe do some of the amazing spiralling I see. I dont know the technical term im afraid. But I love watching jumpers when they are completely horizontal under canopy turning. Not to panic, I dont plan on going, having a go, and killing myself. Im gonna consult my instructors and sign up for the canopy course too. So no extremely informative 'ask your instructor' replies please.

Im a volunteer police officer, think you have them in the states too. Might be called a reserve tho. Its good. Can do my bit as and when I please. Had some really satisfying jobs in this role :) ALthough im only a nipper myself Ive just complleted my mentors course so I now tutor probationer constables! Had some hairy situations, had some fun too. Helped out after the London bombings on an anti terrorist initiative. Next shift will be tomorrow, so im looking forward to it! Joined because (if im honest) I wanted the fun and excitement, but also making my community a better place. Sounds cheesy I know. And to clear things up. The paramedics in UK work there asses off helping pepople, the police run round like lunatics because are seriously underpowered and when arent responding to jobs are proactive and look for things. Firefighters sit around playing pool and cleaning there equipment until there needed. Must be tough!

I do personally think they should have just strafed (sp?) the shitbags. But then, you probably dont learn anything from killing em!
-
Fuck, who told you!
-
We are taught to leave it loose enough to be able to get a fist in between the strap and chest. It works fine for me and not caused me any anxiety. As long as its not loose enough to allow the straps to come off my shoulder, im happy

I think beer all round is worthwhile. Especially for the rigger checking my kit. Thanks Pete! Its a Vector container (dont know DOM yet) with Sabre 2 - 230sq ft canopy (only has 30 jumps). Raven reserve and cypres. BOC etc blah blah. Just hoping itll fit me. Its only one available locally (that I know of) with suitable canopy size. Hope the harness fits now! I did ask the question if itll be suibtable for transition to freefly and apparantly it most likely will be, just might need some extra length added to the vertical closing flaps, but he will let me know for definate when he inspects it. Im not looking to go straight into freefly anyway so it wont bother me that much! Gonna be alot going on for me soon so dont wanna get overwhelmed, what with new rig, first solo jumps etc
-
Which is the exact reason I don take cash to the DZ! haha
-
I dont think its beer worthy until off consols haha. Anyway, I thought you were away. Ill wait til you come back before the beers come out!
-
Thats it, im allowed to get on with it on my own. No more holding on to my instructors apron strings. Passed AFF level 7 today. Lv 8 will be all solo and then my consols to. MWAHAHA! Cant wait to get back down there. Best thing of all is.. all the jumps are substantionally cheaper now and I also got enough money for a nice second hand rig (which my rigger is checking out friday might I add) God I love this sport! I suppose im gonna get loads of 'the learnings only just begun' replies, but hey. So does the real fun WOOOOO HOOOOO!

Just seen on the news, royal navy pursued a speedboat with a helicopter and a support frigate. Snipers onboard the helicopter disabled the four engines and were able to seize the cargo and presumably catch the smugglers It was a huge cocaine bust!! Sort of things you see in the movies! GOOD WORK LADS & LASSES!
