  1. Yeah Hi-Tecs are OK, Speaking from experience in my police work in UK Id recommend (if they can afford them) a nice set of magnums. Feels like your wearing trainers but with great lateral support. You can certainly chase after scumbags in them! The ones with the thinsulate panes instead of leather would be ideal for skydiving, greater movement and breath nicely. See attached pic.

I work for Police in UK, this is a sleepy area and I definately wouldnt go shouting at people. There are some nutters out there! Maybe its my distorted image of TX, but hell, I wouldnt even be making eye contact! A school teacher of ours got chased out of a street once, turned wrong way and ended up on somenes 'patch'
  3. Oh yeah definately. Thats why ive banished them to the cupboard. Itll look really cool when im dangling from the pylons with my cool shades smashed on the floor because theyve come off!
  4. Im trying to save up to have kick ass break away in the states next year. Eloy or somewhere similar... Flights out there are pretty cheap if you shop around and so is the jump tickets. I did actually consider doing my whole AFF out there but decided against in in the end as I thought it would be better to meet the ppl im gonna be jumping with and have the have the instructors know my... erm.... funny habbits Plus, im hoping that the weather is gonna be 10 times better, constant jumping! (course, ive probably jinxed it now)
  5. Hehe, cheers people. Im ordering up a nice set of clear no frills goggles. Once ive got more comfortable with it all ill look at playing with the glasses and getting some elastic. As they are now tho, Im not the lsightest bit confident theyll stay on, paticularly with my washing machine exits! Haha, only jokin, honest!
  6. Hey, I got a Z1 Evo helmet.. Seemed sensible idea to buy myself a Pro Dytter as well. It fits in the internal pockets lovely but when I put the helmet on its really uncomfortable against my ear. Interested to see how other people have mounted their audibles. It seems that if the mount is fixed correctly to the hard shell itll be pretty solid though I have read few peoples stories about riser slap etc. Has anyone had any difficulties hearing their audibles when mmounted externally?
  7. Getting my ass up to Bedford tomorrow. Book today, fly tomorrow... love it Hoping they can sort out my leg symmetry issues for my AFF. When I go back for level 4 theyll be thinking im someone else!

  10. Yeah, I kinda thought that might be the case. Ahh well, my alti is nice anyway! haha. To be honest, for the moment, I think id rather have some goggles, even though what I bought are supposed to be proper skydiving glasses, I havent got much faith in them Out of interest, what do other people wear? Goggles? Glasses?
  11. Hey I just got my Z1 Evo helmet turn up in post. YAY! Lovely, but I bought a set of Curvz glasses to go with it. Looks very cool, but on the ground the glasses dont feel completely secure. Anyone got any info. Is it me being a tart or is there something I can do about this. Like bin the glasses and get proper goggles or can i get a kinda of elastic seperatly that fastens round back of head. Also the Pro Dytter fits in the pouch lovely, but that kinda upsets how the glasses sit too. GRRR Any else had these problems? Last thing I want to do is jump then be blind cos glasses have flown off. Had that happen on a motorbike over 100mph and was a brown trouser moment then! Any suggestions/feedback would be appreciated Thanks... Sam
  12. I dont think thats a Katy dude! Hey indentify yoursefl? Are you a Matt!?
  13. im by no means experienced but i know of two deaths at my club, both were as result of low turns etc. As a newbie the idea of low turns scares the shit out of me, especially with that kind of initiation to the sport. Im aware that we do whatever we can to make it safe, but unfortunately - shit happens! But then you can ride a bike and 'get it wrong', or a car, plane ..... Im doing it because I love it and nothing makes me feel more alive for that time (ironic i know considering the consequences). I tend to tell people a little bit more about the equipment if they ask, they watch my DVD and go - ahhhhh, not what I expected whatever they were expecting I have no idea! HOWEVER.... I have taken out life inurance! and I dont think you can use the driving argument to justify staticstics. How many people drive compared to skydive!?
  14. Nice one got your rigt too! *sigh* Im a long way off that yet, trying to save and jump at same time dont seem to work!
  15. Hey mate, im new myself but wanna say welcome to the sport! What type of training you gonna be doing??
  16. Out of interest anyone know the minimum safe cruising speed for a large commercial aircraft like the one pictured? It would be awesome to have everyone piling out of that!
  17. trying to wrap up my AFF before crappy weather comes and its gutting to be sitting in an office looking at the sky on a Saturday. But then I get day offs during the week and the DZ is pretty quiet and can get more jumps in. So its not all bad

    Whuffo

'whuffo you jump out them planes?' Where does that word come from? Its just made up! maybe its me but I cant even see how that word makes any sense in this sentance!?
  20. I dunno if its a UK thing but certainly my EPs are to pull down with one hand on each handle, cutaway THEN reserve. Reason you push down is its less effort to pull the cable straight out its guide at that angle. Sorry if my terminology isnt technical enough
  21. I can just imagine them slowly walking out expecting to find someone lying in a heap under the main in there garden, then the big sigh of relief!
