  1. Look on the bright side, at least they didn't spend that much time trying to find out if your leader got a hummer!
  2. Yes, and it is also the most effective deterrent from attemping to harm a police officer. Restricting it's use in situations involving a motor vehicle will only encourage criminals to use a car as a deadly weapon. I don't think any amount of training is going to take adrenaline out of the equation when someone is trying to kill you. Agreed. Honestly, I am questioning the accuracy of this story, as it seems biased. First line: " Ten days after an officer shot to death a 13-year-old " seems to imply that they police murdered an innocent 13 year old. Later in the article: "Hundreds of mourners packed a south Los Angeles church Tuesday for Brown's funeral, during which criticism of the police drew applause." Seems like a bit of police bashing to me, of which the writer of the article seems to agree with.
  3. From the pictures on the IcarusNZ website, it appears that the JVX has cascaded HMA lines, which might be why they have such a short life span.
  4. I was under the impression that many high performance canopies are lined with hma, etc.. because of the low trim tolerances required on small, cross-braced canopies. Aren't some of them lined with the thicker Vectran as well? Maybe. But if there was a 9 or 7 cell x-braced canopy with the aspect ratio of this 11 cell canopy you're speaking of, why have the added drag of two extra sets of lines?
  5. Only if the person comitting a crime is putting someone else's life in immediate danger. I think trying to run an officer over with a car falls under that category.
  6. Probably. The only good thing I can say about Walmart is that they'll probably take it to court as opposed to just giving them some huge settlement to make them go away like most companies would do.
  7. Texas ain't bad either. I've lived here my entire life, been around guns for most of it, and have yet to see a gun used in a crime. I can only recall only one or two times when I actually felt unsafe anywhere in the US. Both were in certain areas of either dallas or ft. worth very late at night. Where some of these people get the idea that people in the US walk around all day shooting things I don't know.
  8. Agreed. There was a story I saw on the news last night where a shoplifter ran out of a walmart while being pursued by their loss prevention people. They chased him out to the end of the parking lot, where he decided to run across Highway 75. (One of the busiest highways in Dallas). The LP people stopped at the end of the parking lot, but he managed to get him self hit by a few cars while runnning across the highway. I'm wondering how long it's going to be before his family sues walmart for his death. If you try to run over a cop, expect to get shot. I hate bullshit legislation like this.
  9. I haven't found a place on the net with the whole song... The CD ("Voice" is the album name) has alot of other songs that were good as well. The entire album is pretty much popular songs played with guitar in the place of a vocalist. It's amazing what that man can do with a guitar.
  10. When ascending in an airplane, it seems like the air retained in the body would be at a pressure greater than that of the surrounding atmosphere. I believe that farting is a common method of equalizing the pressure differences.
  11. If you haven't heard it before, I highly recommend checking out the "Everything I do" version by Neal Schon (Lead guitar for Journey). It's one of the best song's I've ever heard. Clicky below. http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/clipserve/B00005MJZP001003/0/102-3470209-2717718

  13. From what I've seen at my DZ it's about 9k feet.
  14. I had that exact thing happen to a roomate of mine a year or so ago. He has a 1972 Chevy truck, and was hit by a saturn while slowing down to turn. The hitch went clear into the front of the engine, and the car was completely trashed. After the cops had filled out the report he had to pull the truck forward to get off of the side of the road and the hitch pulled the whole front bumper/radiator out of the car! He ended up with nothing more than a few scratches on the truck's bumper. No one was hurt luckily, and the dumbass that hit him had no insurance and was driving his girlfriend's car.
  15. And when you don't you get a hazmat unit sent to your place of work because the cleaning crew didn't know you could produce chlorine gas! (true story) Actually it produces chloramine gases, which can them form hypochlorous acid, ammonia gas, and nascent oxygen... Stuff you don't want anywhere near your lungs.
  16. This was in 1990, so I guess so. btw - the stuff at Wal Mart isnt as strong in the chemical needed. You can destroy garbage cans with the stuff at the hardware store. The stuff at Walmart works pretty good, trust me on that one. I believe the reaction also produces a rather flammable gas as well. That would have to be #4 on my list of things I won't do again

    My odd dog

I've got a 1yo yellow lab that will nearly anything too. She preferred wooden furniture when she was younger, and would chew up the big rawhide bones in a day or two. While she hasn't really eaten anything too strange, she did manage to get into a bag of Dove chocolates I had stashed in my room (my brother went into my room to get something and didn't close the door back), and ate the whole damn bag. We took her to the vet, and he said she'd probably be OK, which she was. She did run around the house like a crackhead the entire night and tried to bury things in the carpet though.
  18. In my experience a little over a week ago, it pulled the pin right up to the housing. (No cutaway, just reserve pull). I remember doing my gear check before the jump and wondering why that little piece of velco was there. Other than scaring the hell out of me for about 1/2 second , it didn't seem to cause any problems.
  19. From my personal experience (I work for a major pharmaceutical retailer) it's not the pharmacies that make the cost of drugs so expensive, it's the manufacturers. I've seen the markup on most of the drugs we sell, and it's really not much at all.
  20. Nice video! I heard the weather was pretty nice out there this weekend. I wish I could have been out there, but instead I was stuck in the tunnel in Orlando .
  21. I don't know why it's like that, but I can tell you that pulling the handle in freefall, and it not coming out all the way is just about the worst feeling. Kinda freaked me out a little bit. On the up side, I didn't have to worry about dropping the handle...
  22. Damn... I don't speak drunk... Where's AggieDave when ya need him?
