  1. BEER!!!!!!! I have had absolutely no problems travelling iwth my rig, in fact I usually carry it onto the plane over my shoulder...the TSA guys are either like so what (arizona) or intrigued (New York) I also dont have a cypress in my rig so it is a little easier. But when I did they did this funny swab test where they rubbed the entire backpad of my old rig, untiil I said hold on a second why dont you take a look at this and explained to them the flaps and what not to ever cut.   2. downwind crosswind in wind is better than a low turn....unless the low turn is done in a manner that keeps your canopies lines at stretch on both sides... this can be done by doing a "flat" turn or by even keeping both toggles used in the turn keeping the canopy pressurized...but a flat turn at your jump numbers is probably the safest way...but when in doubt (and having not played with these methods up high) downwind or crosswind is better than pounding into the ground. cheers Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.

  7. Right, so would you agree that the Sabre2 was a good canopy to learn on? Do you feel like you would have done as well if you had gone to a canopy like the XF2 in the first place to have learned on?   8. See, that's what I'm talking about. The Sabre2 is one of the best all around canopies on the market. Its not hard to make the canopy fly with just a little bit of trying. see but now on my crossfire after learning all that stuff on the sabre2 I can clear 1/2-3/4s of the eloy landing area...ooo I cant wait until I finally implement al of what I learned from Brian Germain last weekend ;-) Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.
  9. It was something like 1.3 or 1.4. Not an unusual wingloading for a Sabre2 jumper. I was taking a sabre 2 170 150 feet at 1.2... WHy dont you call Brian and have him put on the swoop lineset :-P that might be a good start that will keep you jumping the same wing for a while... and jumping a wing at 1-1 is not such a bad idea...I would load that 170 a bit more than you, but would be able to show you what a 170 can truly do... I know it is a bit of a drive...but Brian Germain is teaching a course in Norway, I definately found the pilot to have a positive recovery arc whihc is really good for your average everyday flier...you can get it to do things...but it definately takes work... see if you can get a demo Sabre2 150 I switched to one after jumping the Pilot and plowing myself into the ground on it....   15. I agree...sabre 2 is a much better learning canopy for swooping...shit I did most on my learning on two different ones...and now the crossfire...   17. you know whats funny I just watched a guy loaded at 1-1 destroy his pelvis on a 170 sabre 2... those sabres turn awful quick when you start jabbing at things... you know its amazing to me that people dont understand what can be done with larger canopies...it comes down to "its not the shoes that makes the basketball player"... it helps but it really is the pilot that makes the canopy fly and not the wing. so maybe your buddy needs to go through the downsize check list and then when he has completed that...then he should take brian germaines advanced canopy course and see what he can really do with his canopy...   20. jeff should totally buy the 150 sabre or the 149 safire that would be a sick as hell canopy for quite some time... I dig it...but now I might just go try those same techniques I learned jumping the sam....and apply it to my crossfire and see what happens...and then go back and try it again...
