  1. you going to nationals this year with your plutonic life partner??? That would be sweet...good luck Tuck! Junky http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.
  2. I will never say pull and pray...pull in pray was how I busted myself at jump 260 I was saying that a big carving turn was a good way to learn...I used to take up entire landing area widths when I was starting to build up speed but work on accuracy... Finding the middle ground I found the flying down the funnel works for me now... and swooping without outs is a good way to hurt yourself period...just going on the record... 3. Lena, I contacted another one of our early crew Jeff Miller He will be arriving friday night to be here for saturdays event... I also contacted a few others they were saddened and sent love and respect for David... I am truly honored to have spent the time I did with David...like our trip to nogales because it was raingin in eloy or flailing around in the sky in perris and taft...getting lost in LA...praying for him while he was in iraq hoping beyond hope that he would come home... I will miss Dave a lot for sure... See you tomorrow Lost Prairie... 4. I think that time frame is bad, but if the stars align (and my girlfriend hasnt planned some crazy trip right on the ranch pond swoop I mean NE pond swoop nationals) I will totally come out for some fun Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.
  5. I heard the news and called dave cause the names werent released... my heart skipped a beat when it went right to voicemail... I didnt get confirmation that it was him until this morning... all I dreamt last night was that there was another dave at lost prairie and that I had not lost my friend... I will be sending my footage of dave from our trips to random dropzones to lost prairie... And I will fullfill one of Daves wishes this summer and come to Lost Prairie and drink one of those beers he raved about so much... I am still reeling... Dave Holm Skyjunky Ole #5 (somebody might get that) http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.
  6. this sucks.... one of these guys was one of my first friends in skydiving.... Blue Skies Brother Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.
  7. ouch... D http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.
  8. abso-fucking-lutely... I knwo money is an issue...but seriously...it will be worth it... http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.
  9. yeah definately bring it up a bit and slow down the turn... also try to be a bit smoother on inputs coming out of turn.. I see that you are pitching canopy rapidly using a quick toggle stroke... try a smoother input think of it like triming your canopy out of the dive....the smoother the input the less speed lost.... scary thing to think about for you is this... I have my hands on my rears about 100 ft lower than you started that second 270...starting to trim canopy out of dive slowly... Cheers Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.
  10. bump it up and start with harness Edited to add start practicing that up high first...the addition of harness will make your turn easier...Also are your arms at full extension when you grab your dive loops blocks whatever you grab? If not consider longer risers... I will post you video of how much of my leg you can see when I start my turn after I get up to locker to grab video camera Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.
  11. Its a good way to learn to swoop... I used to take a long carving approach...when I moved to 270s this made setup a bear.... so I started quickening up the turns and then wound up losing the same altitude... so still for 270 I start turn on Xfire2 109 at 1.9 from 600-650ft 180 I start my turn from about 500 of course when you start adding in air density variable +-50 ft... Now knowing that this gent jumps at or around sea level... When I go to Zhills I usually forget that I have dropped some altitude from my home dropzone...(the ranch MSL 400 or so) Zhills shows up on my Neptune as -100 as far as density reporting... so when I go to Zhills I tend to drop abotu 100 ft from my turn... Cheers Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.
  12. I promise to show him my titanium travis... Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.
  13. I am actually going to fly the neos this weekend and will let you know after that what I think about it vs the crossfire2 Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.
  14. jump the shit out of your crossfire for now man... get the coaching and not the second rig for right now the coaching will teach you how to get more out of your crossfire... then when you are swooping to the point where the hardcore swoopers are saying nice job on that crossfire then think about it... Mine are still pointing out things I could do differently.... Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.
  15. whats up brother...I am coming down to jersey shore this week... Drop me a line this week via PM and let me know what days are good there as far as getting the plane to fly... Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.
  16. This makes about as much sense as banning 270s. Maybe that was JP's point? based on JPS witty demeanor I would say this is true a little late in the game... http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.
  17. absolutely...I have an FX 99 that fits in my NJ perfectly Also are you selling your 109.... I might be willing to trade cash and a 99 FX with a brand spanking lineset and a full RDS plus cash for it... Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.
  18. Absolutely, I find that instead of actually giving any sort of input on my rears i am actually gently changing trim to gain desired effect (unless I am digging out of course) in fact on my crossfire if you give too fast of an input you will in fact cause the thing to climb if you arent careful Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.
  19. hah... so carving turns are considered a 90 degree less :-P If so I guess the saying is true a well executed 90 can outswoop a bad 270.... I spent a long time doing those big carving 90 turn to 90 turns..in fact I did slightly above mid field at first edition of pond swooping meet at ranch last year with those... So there ya go everyone spend time on your nineties :-P Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.
  20. Get him some finnish aquavite instead he will probably treat you better if you threaten him with that Also there is a bunch or my perspective of me flying my 129 two marches ago in Arizona after first ro8und of canopy coaching but before brian germain. in this video All 180s...check out the last one for sure...the first few are warmups http://www.skydivingmovies.com/ver2/pafiledb.php?action=file&id=3584&string=Arizona_Mar06_sm Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.
  21. its way more than that... I dont think you can ump certain types of canopies until after 500 jumps canopy classes are explained here nicely http://www.icaruscanopies.aero/choosing.htm Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.
  22. I just looked outside and there are definitely frogs falling from the sky... Bill and I agreeing twice in one week most certainly spells one of the 7 signs of the apocalypse... Next week when it hits three will mean the rivers will run red... Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.
  23. Spend the time to learn the crossfire line...they are awesome canopies and I feel like everyone is jumping right to crossbrace really fast these days (it can bite you hard brother).. I regularly swoop mine 2-300feet when current... shit I was doing 2/3 of the eloy landing area with 180s on the 129 (two sizes ago) the last time I was there.... Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.
  24. I have two merlin suits and they are awesome I am pretty rough on them and not a stitch has come out of them... I also have a pair of tony freefly pants and am getting a camera jacket to go with Cheers Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.
  25. I loaded my sabre2 170 the same that you are now, and I learned a shitload about swooping on it... hitting gates... slight carves... accuracy areas... how to fly a pattern... then I transfered that to the 150 and gained some smaller perspective.... Cheers man Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.
