that was being a wise ass not kissing up the thing that I am saying is that hey man if people communicate what they are doing and where and talk about things amongst loads it helps a lot Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.

yes in which every person except bill von and rdutch (hey do I get points for giving you guys a personal compliment???) has read 1/16th of what anyone else has written and just spewed forth whatever they feel about which ever form of landing is not their style. btw once again we at the ranch survive for two reasons... 1. we communicate 2.most of the swoopers dont land by the hanger (but we tell everyone that we arent told that) Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.

still do the downsizing checklist before downsizing that iwll help you to really wring every bit of performance and non performance out of your current canopy. \ D http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.

or you can cut the rubber band in half so that it will break easier, lately I have been using slocks while I sort my stuff out and then after everything is flying much nicer I stow Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.
-
the only reason I see for downsizing is that you have ragged out every ounce of performance on your current wing of choice Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.

What's the deal with the headaches?
dharma1976 replied to peanutgallery's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
it could be lack of oxygen it could be hard openings or it could be sinuses Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing. -
You'll have to ask someone from Deland if the HP landing area has been designated yet. Doc's from Iowa. In the meantime, I don't think banning capri pants is a good solution. No sir, No sir ree, Bob. those are manpris and dont you ever forget it D http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.

What first Crossbraced from a crossfire2?
dharma1976 replied to CKSCUBA's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
Chris I would say this Try the crossfire2 109 The difference from 1.7 to 1.9 is kinda intense do some jumps at that and then 103 Velo so you can smack your balls on the pond like I did last weekend... Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing. -
I totally have to throw this in here cause it might be valid... I have a velo 103 loaded at 2.1 I bounced of the pond at the ranch yesterday and created a 50 ft tsunami from my fat ass colliding with the water... I am a bit bruised up but let me tell you these canopies can get away from you if you get lose focus for a millisecond man... Cheers Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.

what seems to be working in situations is separation... regardless of what people are saying... separating landings by time or space (or if any of the physicists have anoth way taht folds time and space let me know we as high performance pilots at the ranch have claimed the area by the pond as a high performance landing area...there is no policy we just worked it out with everyone there...and let people on the loads we are on know where we are landing... so perhaps in the end communication (which is what I have been saying all along) is the key to this problem... not tit for tatting each other to try to force our wills upon each other... but figuring out together how we can keep each other alive... I like a sig line I once read take care of each other.... Cheers Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.

I know of a few people who have died form High G turns I know of one guy who wrestled his way past the High G turn induced from broken lines on a 103 Velocity that cut away... I know there are many more instances Will it happen on a student canopy no It generally only builds up enough on highly loaded High performance canopies Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.

2007 USPA Nationals - Canopy Piloting - who is going?
dharma1976 replied to frost's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
That settles it I am going now Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing. -
Rdutch you have way more jumps and experience so my questions are out of pure curiosity. 1. What about two 4 way teams with mixed canopies on each team. Which team goes first? 2. Would wingloadings play into this more than canopy size? Say someone on a 150 loaded at 2:1 compared to someone on a 119 loaded at 1.4:1. Just curious. communication between teams is the answer Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.

AFF RATING is it easy to get!!!!!
dharma1976 replied to skinnyshrek's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I actually went and got my coach rating to add to the canopy control section of students lives... that and taking Brian Germains advanced course which subtly preps you to teach stuff as well Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing. -
who said canopy piloting has anything to do with just 6 seconds of time canopy piloting can take 20 minutes if I choose... I tend to do a lot of high pulls when it is allright to do I tend to do hop and pops I do focus on canopy a lot even though I enjoy freeflying and belly flying as well canopy piloting is my discipline Cheers Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.

You are incapable of having fun without a 270? are you incapable of having fun with out belly flying? I agree with JP on this one..canopy piloting is my discipline of choice... as of now unless I cant get there I am swooping the lane/pond which is away from the hanger and kinda been set to be a high speed approach area as a handshake deal with everyone... secondly if I am not doing that I drive in Jersey my swivel head is pretty good (that was a joke I know I am human) I feel you, time or space is a good thing I never once said that it wasnt... often times one will catch me either being one of first swoopers to land if doing four way video or belly flying second swooping pond third landing on the far edge of dropzone where people dont usually land best situation puts me by pond second best situation is me landing first or second from plane (this btw has lead to me doing a lot more belly flying with my friends) third best situation working coach jump and landing after everyone else; fourth best situation is me taking a standard pattern and carving a light 90 degree turn to final; that is generally how I am trying to roll these days last situation is hop and pops which I really prefer for really just working on things so lastly no I dont think I am the someone you have to watch out for...that being said at one point I most certainly was and had someone talk to me about changing methods to make everyone safer Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.

What jump number was your first cutaway?
dharma1976 replied to illusioneer's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
ditto on your scenario Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing. -
This statement tells me you are the one we are all trying to avoid in the pattern landing areas. This statement tells me that you would be doing your 270s in the designated swoop area at the Farm. Ahhhh but you miss my point sir...a for me I usually set up over the pond at the ranch which is unnofficially become the swoop area as there are gates and voila the pond over there. secondly a left hand 270 set up takes a right hand pattern while you are flying your first leg you are looking at what is coming your way as far as people on final while you are on your base or crosswind leg you are looking at people setting up to turn onto crosswind so you can see what is happening in all directions before you make the decision to turn or not... my policy has become a lot more picky on when I turn or not... if everything is not perfect I tend to abort carve myself to normal crosswind and turn a 90 on top of that I give everyone on the load as much information as possible about what I am doing so they know what is coming... color of parachute where my pattern points are... where my turn will happen what it will look like if I abort my turn where I will go if there is congestion. So perhaps you judge too quick good sir, I had the joy of many great mentors and some great people to give me great tips on how to stay alive and how to help others stay alive. at the farm I would be over the high performance area Cheers Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.
