I will say this.. again... I recently talked to my friend who was ahead of his shit and so was said by a really damn good swooper that I know. He says the handicapped parking is really sweet and he doesn't have to wheelchair himself too far. of course he has a great attitude about it... and then there is me... on a 150 I destroyed my ankle...got lucky I tell you but it was a lesson learned My last statement is...take your time you have the rest of your life to skydive...that and oh yeah I was an aggressive downsizer...the arthritis sucks and my knees ain't so good now...I lived so far and some of that I attest to luck some of that to some damn good mentors and coaches... Get yourself some of those should you make the decision (and it is yours to make) to fly a small canopy small canopies do go to shit really fast...even if you are a light load...cause it isn't just loading it is also line length that attributes to that... Cheers and try to be safe brother Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.

Do a search on "Ted Nelson". You sound just like him. He told a lot of folks how good he was. He may become a great swooper, but he died before that happened. Kevin Keenan dude what are you trying ot get teds aunt cindy back on here stop that Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.

I will agree with you on a few things firstly the Velo opens so much nicer than katana except when it doesnt secondly I have noticed zero oversteer on my Velo, but that may be turn style induced oversteer, aka my turn style does not induce oversteer. Thirdly just jumping the katana made me never want to jump one :-P the openings were brisk to say the least. The only thing I regret is selling my Crossfire 2 109 cause sometimes I get a little uncurrent and the Crossfire is a little more forgiving than the Velo :-P, but once current I prefer the velo for swoopign Cheers Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.

I have noticed that before the canopy has its own relative wind sometimes it searches for one :-P probably my imagination and not physics like kallend, but I have noticed a correlation (and that being in the scientific version of the word like yeah it coincides but not cause and effect perhaps) Cheers Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.

I love when the neptune goes back into freefall mode when you just let the canopy fly, no joke on everything that is being said here the katana is hella fun to fly man give it a shot I like to say this about the katana it dives like a crackwhore in a sheetrock factory :-P Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.

this sunday looks windy as all get up there are a shitload of people that will be willing to help you out...usually what happens is this... person goes to manifest manifest eyeballs whatever coach is on the floor and visible manifest spots dave holm cause he has ginormous sideburns manifest pages dave holm dave holm gives new person to ranch a view of the over head and mentions something about dont mind if you suddenly see a purple whir and hear operatic tones when you are on your base leg tells you about the outs tells you about alpaca tells you about the children of the campground which look very creepy when you land there, kinda like that movie with all the blond haired blue eyed children. tells you about our very own mcnasty tells person about a rogue spaceball almost killing a farmer person starts to dart eyes around frantically looking for an out finds dru or candycane man (who is hella fun to jump with) and says something to get himself away from man with crazy sideburns and gets himself on load person has a shitload of fun with us "heathens" at the ranch and wonders why everyone seems to think we are the devils children after jumping all day sunset occurs and person finds out Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.

Do experienced skydivers jump without AAD?
dharma1976 replied to Hagen's topic in Safety and Training
1200 bucks is a lot of money... there is a lot of different situations where you might just need one, I would like one but see sometimes better places to spend the money although now that I jump with students I can see more reason for one Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing. -
ahh its amazing how little people think of these things Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.

emergency dive recovery: level the canopy or not?
dharma1976 replied to pchapman's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
so finishing turn on a shallower turn mechanism is flawed? oh wow I am going to be low on this one I will stop turn and finish turn on rears... I use this technique if I realize that I am low in the first 2/3 of my turn other wise it is and it seems to work for me Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing. -
emergency dive recovery: level the canopy or not?
dharma1976 replied to pchapman's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
I like to find the nearest pond and created a big splash just kidding I saw an interesting move the other day toggles to dig out of corner to rears to toggles I prefer to figure out I am low before I am low which gives me more options. if its a save my life I usually go to toggles to level me out and then change direction if needed Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing. -

if you want to spend $1.80 and send it to them with a nice letter stating your issue and wrap the item in bubble wrap and send it to them via mail it will get handled a lot quicker I have found.
