Here is where talking becomes important as a person who turns left 270s in patterns ( to make sure that I am not turning blindly into pattern) I take the time to tell everyone on the load exactly what I am doing and approximately where I will be. I think it was cause I was the only outside of the helicopter spinning up at the other end of the dropzone in the sky... so when I popped my brakes I didnt immediately go into proactive flying mode...I just started setting up for my swoop It was kinda nice being all alone except or the helicopter that swooped the end of my swoop (working on footage) Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.

I dont think that many of us will push back for no landing pattern rules... you will find that a lot of us work really hard to make the sky safer for all of us... we communicate exactly what we do we communicate where we will be at what altitudes we communicate where we should be in the loading of the plane and act accordingly for what is happening in front or after us... we try to separate landing areas as much as possible we try to work with others to neaten up the patterns/stacking the thing is that we have had some yahoos make some serious mistakes and not be heads up about doing some seriously dangerous shit I for one have been landing away from the regular pattern almost 100% or making sure that I do lesser turns if I cant make the pond... most of the die hard swoopers are landing by the pond at the ranch these days with no rule... we all just like the gates that mike set up down there and most of the others like to land by hanger Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.

Built in turn, is it me or my harness?

could it be that your risers are old and battered and out of trim??? I had a set of risers do that to me after 500 jumps swapped em for a new set and bingo... I cleared from the Billy shouse at the ranch to the ditch on a straight in approach on a velo 103 it does take a lot of room to land Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.

Do you have a favorite time of day to jump?

well I know I almost got knocked out by my raft (*Impact*) landing... it took me three throws of the life buoy to get it and get dragged in... Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.

and some people do this in a bashing cynical way and others do in it a more constructive way, it all depends on how we deal with our fears. Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.

I hate to say this but I will... Ted made his own decisions... one of which was to pursue high performance canopy piloting. Ted came to us seeking an answer that he wanted...we didnt give it to him...others didnt give it to him... so he found those that gave him the answer he wanted... we all tried to warn him that there was a better way to pursue this dream of canopy flight... he ignored most of these warnings saying that he was different. suggestions he was given included don't downsize aggressively, get canopy coaching from a person like Brian Germain or Scott Miller of flight1 or which ever one was mentioned... and most importantly...take your time brother...rushing this is only a sure way to pound yourself into the ground... But he insisted that he was different than those that had come before him and sought his answers elsewhere... I got really sad when I heard of his injury and then his death...I had hoped to jump with him at some point. So Cindy, I understand your grief..I grieve as well for my losses, but getting mad when people start to discuss this as a reminder to others when in truth he did fuck up and it was his end...I wont agree with the trashing comment, but truthfully he did turn low and he did bounce off his forehead and it did kill him... and us reminding those that are trying to take his same route is honoring Ted and I am sure he would be pleased. Cindy not a single one of us was happy about Ted passing...we only hope that others can learn from his mistakes... I was like Ted...I didn't listen...I got really lucky and only broke my ankle... it made me step back... some of us don't get fortunate like I did. We hope that by bringing this up we can keep others from making fatal mistakes and taking their time in swooping... that is all, it has nothing to do with feeling superior.... Cheers and Blues Cindy. I have this to say... Blue skies Ted May your memories keep others from the same fate...and I totally think this is Kevins point even though I dont know him Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.

when the canopy hits a 120 MPH wind, do you think that really makes a difference? the best trick I have as a pocker is to make sure that you have the grommets of the slider flat and the slider quartered properly... then once you get the canopy on the ground dont put your knees on the grommets like a ot of people do, put your knees on the fabric of the slider just past the grommets... that keeps the slider in place a lot better. Cheers Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.

Well I love this canopy for fun jumping...as soon as I strap a camera on my head or am worried about perhaps having to dump in a track I break out a different canopy.... I got this canopy for free with some new lines on it from a friend...it was a good intro to crossbracing for me, definately need to fly it with rears to get optimum flare power at the end of your swoop... I will never get rid of mine which is one of the early NZ ones love it dearly and has some good memories with it RIP PJ thanks for the canopy
