I know my buddy had a nasty set of tension knots on his blue lines that literally cut through the lines when he pulled on his rears... it took him a little bit to get it together to get stable after that... And in my limited experience, it seems that I can build up more speed in addition to having a better view to where I am headed. Absolutely I placed 10th of 19 at my first pond swoop meet by doing nothign but long carving 180s cheers Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.

I will repeat this anytime 8i hear this... Brian passed on a toolkit that has saved my life and my swoops many times over the last year Anyone who is on the fence about paying for a regular or advanced course Brian is an amazing teacher... I cant vouch for Scotts class personally but havign met and talked with him it seems he would be a great teacher as well Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.

We are offering him the honey of still jumping for a long time veiled with cynicism.. I know guys who started jumping velo's at 800 jumps and who have competed with some of the best and actually won money cause they spent time learning and really focused every jump on canopy piloting.... I also know guys who have gone to velos a tad bit early and paid the price.... I load my crossfire 2 109 at 1.9ish and let me tell you it is a beast at that loading... I have also flown the 107 katana at around the same loading and let me tell you that thing screams at the ground... I will say this...I am also jumping an FX 99 as my second canopy...(it was given to me by my then S&TA). When I first got it I jumped it a few times and said you know what I am not ready for this and spent another half a year on my crossfires...I learned a lot and had a few more people (some who post here) critique me and help me make some subtle changes to my swoop...then last weekend I finally hooked it back up and put it in my second rig... that 6 months and remaining teachable really made a huge difference in how I approached the FX. The OP should contact someone in FLorida and get some serious swoop coaching shit I even think some of the responders to this post are coaches and even may live in Florida... (or maybe the person I am thinking of should contact OP and tell him where they can find him on the weekends and the OP could go up there and maybe learn a few more things about swooping) Then we could all stop beating the shit of a dead horse issue and maybe do something proactive about it...(and I know we all do this on a local level) Dave Just to be clear, my reply wasn't directed at the original poster. It was directed at some guy who chimed in with some wierd post, and went on to proclaim that everyone needed to be nicer, and reminded us that 'we could catch more flies with honey'. http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.

What goes through your mind when you get injured?
dharma1976 replied to jigneshsoni's topic in Safety and Training
when I broke my leg all I could think about was learning enough so that I wouldnt fuck up like that again then when I bulged out three discs I thought about whether or not I would be able to skydive again and spent a lot of time working on muscle groups to help heal the bulging discs... I tend to work on things to help me keep skydiving as opposed to thinking about whether or not I should skydive again Cheers Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing. -
the knowledge in this book has saved my life so many times that I am glad I bought it when I had 4 months to read it over and over and over again (aka I broke myself then bought the book and read it over and over again trying to learn how I fucked up and then learned some really good stuff as a result) Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.

What does "right hand pattern" mean to swoopers?
dharma1976 replied to 78RATS's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
but that being said does anyone besides chuck and myself see the benefit of flying a left hand pattern right hand 270 in a right hand pattern??? think about the safety of turning blindly backwards into the pattern and then answer... Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing. -
I can see it now dial "877 team two" i you like freeflying team number two can we at least get that obnoxious Simon guy to come make fun of people if so??? D http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.

What does "right hand pattern" mean to swoopers?
dharma1976 replied to 78RATS's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
swooper 1 did not have a base leg did he.. therefore he did not really fly a pattern but heres the kicker...turning back into the pattern is a bad idea no matter what... thusly I fly right hand pattern left hand 270 in a left hand pattern which gives me the option to bail into standard pattern should need arise. Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing. -
you know having slept on it a bit more and the tequila has worn off I have some definite opinions on what freeflying is.... freeflying to me is a state of mind and many states of body flight.... freeflying is getting out there and having a good time... sometimes I wonder about freeflyings current state...it seems that people have gotten very serious about being free eh? Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.
