  1. it comes from dead people on these forums Ones that asked the same questions Ones that from everyone around them were allright and doing fine. And having to read the incident report and get sad cause we gave them the same answers we gave you... And because I generally think you are a decent guy from what I have read on these forums and a smart fella and someone I would like a chance to hang with... I could fly the xaos, I just have more to learn on the Crossfire that I would rather learn at the right place... A place that allows me to fuck up with out killing myself(hopefully) A place that allows me to wow people on a conventional nine cell... But I dont want to become a hella good wheelchair pilot so I wait.... And publically yes I have hurt myself...I did my ankle...it clicks like madhosue now and is bruised all the time from the titanium. that was 3 Octobers ago... Hey how about this... Come do a trip to the Ranch this summer :-) We can geek out about canopies in person. Dave PS I know a guy like you that wound up in a wheel chair I also know a guy like you that now wins money at swoop comps 400 jumps later... http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.
  2. Right on Chuck... I can say this...my crossfire2 119 at around 1.8-1.9 does very well...I like it I fly the bejesus out of it, and most likely am looking for a second one to put in my other rig for this season... I find that I can a get back from god knows where...can land that shit easily in many conditions, on rears fully, can carve it a strong ass ninety...shit I think it is a great canopy period the end... Airborne...I have said this before and I will say it again why rush...that canopy at that loading will cause a lot of fun to occur if you chillax and really learn it.... not just learn the basics on it and then move on... I will be jumping my 119 crossfire (with the occasional FX jump) for quite some time...and by quite sometime means that when the canopy wears out I will stop jumping it... thats how much I love it.... (plus the lady has told me that she needs me around to help pay the upcoming mortgage) so if you want to ignore us all once again and rush something that you can spend the rest of your life doing...feel free...but remember that we told you this stuff as you are counting back from ten.... 3. yeah they are alriight if you dont look at them and keep your hands by your side and expect a slap with a ruler if you disobey...oh wait that was detention in schohol flash backs oh wait its about the same for a velo... It was hella fun to fly I just am spoiled by my crossfire openings... Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.
  4. I did some demos on a velo 103 and didnt hate the openings for the softness...only hated the openings for the canopy trying to eat itself on every opening (aka extreme searchiness) Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.
  5. hey man, I recently wound up being given an FX 99 and found it to be an easy transition from my crossfire 119, still working on it, but it made sense to me.... That being said my crossfire is still my main canopy, the FX is really just for canopy specific jumps when I am hella current. 6. when you come up to the ranch this spring and look for me...let me show you what a sabre2 170 can do :-P Admittedly I load the sabre2 170 at what you will load the 150. At that loading the sabre2 series taught me everything I know about swooping...(Of course I could have done that under another similar planform, I just happened to have a sabre2 at the time) Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.
  7. I did and it made me a better swooper later... My favorite jumps are high speed CRW... Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.
  8. I would say the same... if the owner caught a TM whacking rails of his bald tandem students heads on the plane I would defintely see an issue... the difference between Drugs out there si huge, I have seen people more affected by a drinking habit than people who did heroin, it all depends on the person truthfully... So to answer your question, I have known some awesome tandem masters who smoked a little chiba here and there, I have known some really bad ones who didnt do anything but have a few beers here and there... Cheers Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.
  9. a demo canopy from a company I wont name. It jacked me so bad on every opening...lets just say it gave me a concussion... as a packer who packs himself nicey nice openings all the time...and after reading the packing manual it was found by company that canopy was seriously out of trim.... oh well if that is the worst canopy I have jumped I must be a yuppie bitch Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.
  10. I totally agree on this tip, but as I took on the FX at almost its max loading (and beyond with my winter weight on) It definately gets honking on a 270... Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.
  11. Ahhh kolla... you were one of the first factory reps that I met in the weeee first year of jumping you spent time talking to me about different stuff alongside Chris Martin next to a firey barrel in AZ I see you continue to be awesome as all get up in that dept... Cheers Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.
  12. damn and I forgot mention the ju ju stick I wave at my risers before I turn too...does that make it complicated enough Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.
  13. Truthfully I love my Crossfire2 so much that I might never get completely sold on Crossbrace... Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.
  14. also at 1.5 wingloading on a crossfire 2 129 I was starting my 180 from 500 ft. My turn was started from half brakes with heavy harness, then to double fronts then offset then to double.... Try all these things up top... Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.
  15. try this instead of pulling down on your risers put your hands in the dive loops and bend your whole body over to drag them down... also try giving harness you wil find it works very well on that cnaopy with 1.5 wingloading also if your jump numbers are correct be careful and get coachign ASAP sorry to say that. Cheers and safe swoops \ dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.
  16. 850ish FX 99 after about 400 jumps on crossfire 2's I have a handful of jumps on it, as the Crossfire is my main canopy still. Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.
  17. I just realized that he is close to me and would like to help teach someone properly instead of just bitchign them out...I feel that we can work pattern and work on flying the canopy to its potential at altitude and learn a lot of shit before even thinking of the ground stuff... When I had about his number of jumps I started aggressively doing high altitude hop and pops because I loved flying canopies, flying the canopy and learning about about its flight characteristics became a passion.. I don't mind passing that passion along and maybe try to help someone learn at a proper progression rate (with help from others as well) which is a lot easier to do in person so that what is being said wont be construed as belittling. Cheers Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.
  18. Ok that sounds good ..I did 2 AFF jumps last year with Steve and Big Jim and just got done with Scott millers canopy course. Scott said he mite be at the Ranch so I can take the Advance course . Yeah come hit me up and I and perhaps some others will work with you on the beginnings of what you need to do and why... Ha! Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.
  19. come up to the ranch and ask around for skyjunky... I will talk to you in person about the progression and maybe even do some fun full altitude hop and pops with ya.... Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.
  20. if its big or we have lost someone to the above regions of the sky yes I will.... most certainly on 32 way tracking dives... Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.
  21. man... see why did I have to go do soft tissue.... damn bulging discs... D http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.
  22. stupid oaks trunks snapping in the breeze... man thats awful hopefully they gave you good drugs at least Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.
  23. I have brake fires all the time on my crossfire2 loaded at about 1.8-1.9 depending on beer weight... it is certainly fun....takes off at the groudn really quick and then I usually keep it from going bad by correcting with a combo of harness and rear riser while I figure it all out... Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.
  24. well if petite I have noticed that tighter fitting suits seem to make it so that you can stay with us with a bit more of the height and weight on us... that being said I had to work my ass off to stay with a 4'10" skydiver and get shots... hmmm I may even have pictures... Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.
  25. man I need to borrow a sabre2 210 and see what I can do with it... Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.
