Predictability of 270 degree turns: (Was Fatality - Eloy)
dharma1976 replied to Chris-Ottawa's topic in Safety and Training
Agreed. However 'conventional' pilots thinking this is a swooper only problem are horribly mistaken. I see a LOT of closer than necessary calls every weekend. What concerns me about this mindset is that be villifying a particular group we are missing the bigger picture. Collisions can happen to anyone....the best prevention is having EVERYONE pay attention to vertical and horizontal seperation under canopy, even with seperate landing areas. That means that the person on the 135 ST should exercise good judgement on when and how to spiral around the sky just as the swooper should exercise good judgement on when and how to do their HP landings. If we start thinking it's only 1 groups responsibililty we are setting ourselves up for failure. IMO anyone not thinking this is EVERYONE's responsibility is one of those people to watch out for under canopy. Blues, Ian thanks ian for elloquently saying what I could only say sarcaustically Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing. -
I dont know if there is goign to be a region up here this year...the guy who ran it last year seemed non plussed about the response in our area Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.

the GLS XF also has totally steeper trim. I am thinking I am going to send my crossfire off to mel to get it modded sometime next month. Cheers Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.

Yup, it'll asorb the bumps in the ground with less body roll. Don't get them in the pond, though, they might rust. god I want that technology will it take away the body rolls but keep the wingloading Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.

Thats the one, right there. That's the real next step. is that going to work in the same way that say progressive springs work in a car? Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.

Years from now can we refer to him as the EVIL LORD SLATON sent down from Emperor JYRO to instill JVX's into the swooper-troopers in the americas??? cause that would be fucking ill Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.

I think what you are trying to say is: "once your parachute is open keep your head on a swivel..." and that goes for all of us period the end... High Performance Pilot... Accuracy Pilot... "Just get me to the ground safely" Pilot and any other parachute pilot that is in the air... Period the end, no need to get into a semantic bitching people out argument over the fact that some people fucked up... guess what we are all human, accidents happen... if we all keep an eye we can do a better job of protecting ourselves and others...there will never be a perfect way to do so... I waited until I had like 500ish jumps maybe even more to get a camera helmet...I think that had more to do with my money going to my canopy aggression... btw hes from the ranch read my sig line... (so am I) Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.

I will probably still have you do it...we shall talk this season about it.... Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.

You two would make a good couple Yes I agree that they feel different. That takes us back to my point that the line trim is the major difference. To end this thread(please)( I just heard "Amen" in the background!!), if you want to jump a Crossfire 2 with the same type of trim as the Katana, let me know and I will set it up for you! MEL Does this trim change cost the same as a reline??? I have a feelign when my 119 gets to like 400 jumps you will be making said same trim change for me Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.

what about popping the toggle as soon as there is riser stretch... it isnt my slider...its the keepers being slightly worn... Cheers Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.

Brian Germains book can be purchased here and you can contact him here as well about canopy course I owe Brian like at least 10 bottles of liquer since he has saved my life so many times http://www.bigairsportz.com Cheers Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.

if it was the 31st was it the heli load that we started up the heli with? Cheers Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.

I have had so many toggle pops on my crossfire 2 at this point its like open open open taking off at the ground fortunately at thispoint I know that to give the opposite rear rise asap will remedy the situation Cheers Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.
-
I tend to lose altitude with a mixture af deep harness and double toggle application to tighten the turn of course that is when I pull at 13500 or so... Cheers Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.
-
it can also be applied in keeping the linestretch on the outer turn side of the canopy so that you dont lose control of the canopy... Hear brian talk abou this on SKydive radio here http://img668.libsyn.com/img668/a26fefdda92fde257ff4398800731c11/45aa9e16/3867/5047/sr14_11_08_05s.mp3 CHeers Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.

(although I am a huge Brian Germain proponant, one of the others might be your style of learning in a nutshell) Cheers Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.

try pulling the outer nose cells in front of the others and not rolling the tail too much as that will assymetrically pull on the D lines... I loved my 150 sabre2. Everyonce in a while I would get a panoramic opening but not consistantly Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.

Or it will involved metal being inserted into your body Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.
