I have had a blast out there in the past sometimes what I do is for sunset I get out last track for about 10-15 seconds and land last which means I can do whatever turn I want and last time I was there a 180 on a crossfire2 129 from 500 ft was clearing a lot of the landing area I might it depends on certain cut away life choices I might have to make... I never jumped the safire2 from what I hear they are great canopies I would say this that the crossfire2 never treated me wrong I found that it took more tehcnique but when you threw more techniques at it it wound up performing really well in fact I waffle back and forth whether or not I made the right choice going crossbraced sometimes :-P Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.

I once heard from someone somewhere that the chest strap is to keep the harness from coming over the ends of your arms I think even at fully open chest strap would come close Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.

Totally true. I'm not arguing that body position influences canopy flight. I'm arguing that it does so in both upwind and downwind conditions. The drag for a given body position is exactly the same if the canopy is flying upwind or downwind. A balled up small body makes your canopy fly better. Both upwind and downwind. Some claim that in upwind conditions you should ball up, and in downwind conditions you should make yourself big open and flat. Not true. For optimal performance, you should ball up in all conditions, regardless of wind direction. Otherwise swoopers would benefit from wearing a big wide freefly suit for downwind swooping. Not! and here I would agree fully :-P Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.
-
ummm drag is drag and a big open flat body creates more drag than a balled up small body so I will disagree here as I am sure many others will Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.

Time to do away with the "coach" rating
dharma1976 replied to Airman1270's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
cause it legally covers the schools arse... also if they are not licensed you need an instructional rating to jump with them period... licensed means a licensed then you can do whatever you want with em... Cheers Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing. -

can I use those terms if I pay you 5 cents a use? we have a few people that dont like to listen (I have never ever ever ever ever been that person I swear) I like to think that I approach things in a manner that people dont think is accostive so often when I tell people what is going on they listen... I love explaining why I use a right hand pattern to a left hand turn to people they get this look on their face at first like what the F and then when they get it they get this dawning look on thier face Cheers Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.
