  3. well shimas I know kim likes to be thorough on her background checks... funny thing is that even though we chilled in Florida on the ground I dont know if I ever saw you land D http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.
  4. the 12th I will be at the Mets game... 13ths sounds good though.. and of course this sunday looks beautiful... Cyall soon... Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.
  5. my opinions on same sized katanas vs crossfire... the crossfire you have to work it to get it to dive...katana you can have an inkling of a thought that you might want to turn in the back of your mind and you are diving like crazy... I like the katanas I like the crossfires.... different styles for sure.... Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.
  6. yeah there was that crossfire 2 129 that was going to be my canopy for a while...until that pesky icarus rep lent me a 119 which I bought one and then bought a 109 and promptly sold the 119 uggggghh I haven't demo'd anything since my Velo though... keeping myself from it at this point... http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.
  7. jerry Catch me at the ranch we will talk and perhaps do some no contact crew...I will also pass along the tricks that got me on my rears... I will be there on sunday... Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.
  8. I should be up there on saturday it is time for some air that isnt mechanical in nature.. see you then perhaps D http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.
  9. I wish I'd never started swooping. It's like a drug, you keep doing it even after the long hospital visits. You break bones, and they heal, but how many bones do you have to break to kick the habit? I so identify with this...its like the rest of the skydive doesn't matter as much as the canopy flight most of the time...I find myself doing whatever it takes to get in the air...filming four way...filming students...coaching students...pretty much so I can swoop (well and with the students I do love working with the excitedness) Dave Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.
  10. dump with some slight forward motion I put emphasis on slight and in my experience it the lengthiness will shorten and the openings will be a little less extreme... Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.
  11. may for sure for me too Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.
  12. its called demos for PD man... at the wingloading you are at get the Katana. it will be the right thing to do for what you want...plus I personally know Velo pilots that still enjoy flying the Katana cause they are hella fun to fly... Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.
  13. yeah when we catch up again I can work out some more things for you so that you learn the full range of it :-) Cheers man Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.
  14. I wasnt nailing 270s when I moved to the crossfire at all... I was only nailing 180s...of course now the 270s are in place :-P D http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.
  15. but seriously it is a 170... shit I might ask lead to borrow it over the weekend to see what a 170 katana feels like as we weigh about the same...all I have flown is the 120 and 107 and yeah those dove like crackwhores in sheetrock factories...not so sure the 170 will be as sporty at a lower wingloading... PS I will stand by leads decision he is not a rash person and is actually coming from the perspective of taking advice from some pretty damn safety conscious people...and heres the caveat...he might jump it and say fuck that noise...and thats the kinda guy he is... I gave him some drills that will show him a bit of what the canopy can do and might even give him the oh shit factor of damn this thing is serious business... D http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.
  16. you know there is a guy in the cpc tearing it up on a sabre 2 from what I hear...load em up and they fly real nice.... and I know I repeat myself for most of those involved...but I did learn most of what I know about swooping on a sabre2 170... Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.
  17. So I know you will get a primer from the big guy...but just because I will kick myself if I dont... Do a hop and pops to 7,900ft on the first few jumps with it... get all fixed up with your apres opening chores... try double fronts in following variations double fronts by self flare then double fronts fly in brakes for a while then double fronts note the differences in altitude loss and pitch and recovery altitude of dive note what different brake turn types will do one toggle, two toggles, offset braked turns. figure out what flaring out of all of the above drills will do... these are learning drills for the canopy that will aid you going forward and understanding different flight modes of the canopy you are demoing... keep to your normal pattern landing for now it wil aid you going forward I promise... Good luck maybe we will run into each other this weekend. Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.
  18. also I will say this the first couple of times I jumped the katana it scared the bajesus out of me... I remember pulling a 90 degree turn and all of a sudden I lost like 400 ft... a few months later after spending some time jumping the smaller sizes of crossfires I demoed another on even smaller and it didnt freak me out as much PM me if you want to talk in person about this as well Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.
  19. Lead, if it is the owner of said same shop, and knowing how conservative he is on giving advice to people regarding elliptical canopies...I am kinda shocked to hear this...I personally would spend some time moving down in sizes learnign all the way on a similar canopy to what you have now... and then think about the katana.. You jumping up north still? Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.
  20. that is certainly a nice way to make it so that you dont have to wait for rings eh :-P D http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.
  21. scores are posted guys http://www.cpafl.org/scores/2008meet2.php Cheers Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.
  22. you know its funny I had an early FX and it was awesome... it did how ever fly like it was trying to rip my f'ing arms off all the time.... I would equate it to something like flying the rack (torture device) around sometimes...then I flew a velo and was like ohhhhhhh so now I get it...although I do miss the workout that I got from flying my FX Cheers D http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.
  23. when you are trying to gain every little bit of advantage in competition, until then the headaches involved are too much... Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.
  24. see in some ways I think i was lucky I got my 99 without lines so I immediately got a new lineset for it Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.
  25. I know of a guy who got his toe torn off while swooping a pond while wearing Tevas Dave http://www.skyjunky.com CSpenceFLY - I can't believe the number of people willing to bet their life on someone else doing the right thing.
