Couldn't you say that about any large breed like rotties, Shepards, Akitas, dobies, mastifs, giant poddles, boxers, etc. I've know some freaking nasty goldens and another dogs which are considered good family pets. I would never leave my Akita alone with kids. She's a therapy dog and has undergone lots of training and tests but common sense is never to leave a big dog unattended with kids.

Tsunami, Powell: U.S. aid will be 'billions'
Casurf1978 replied to Lostinspace's topic in Speakers Corner
I doubt Rockefeller or Carnigie would agree with you. John D donated hundreds of millions of dollars because he wanted to and thought it was his duty, Carnigie also agreed with him. Carnegie considered philanthropy a moral imperative. Bill Gates and his wife said the following when asked about their foundation: "It was our commitment 10 years ago that whatever wealth we earn we will give back to the society." Gates has donated over 2 billion dollars. We are the richest and most powerful nation the World has ever seen. Many here say we should be the policemen of the World. Well that role has several sides and one is to help out in times of crisis. -
Tsunami, Powell: U.S. aid will be 'billions'
Casurf1978 replied to Lostinspace's topic in Speakers Corner
Very true. Epsecially when one billion is 0.0091% of our GDP. -
Very true. I have an Akita, 115lb female, this breed is known to be an agressive breed, yet my dog is so freaking sweet and gentle. Gentle enough to do hospital therapy with kids and senior citizens. Little kids think she's a bear, funniest thing I've ever seen. It's all on how you raise them.

Acutally there is a warning system set up for detection of tsunamis in the Pacific Ocean. I doubt it would've helped in this case though since this one was in the Indian not Pacific region.

How about this one: "Let me out. Let me out of here. Get me the hell out of here. What's the matter with you people? I was joking! Don't you know a joke when you hear one? HA-HA-HA-HA. Jesus Christ, get me out of here! Open this goddamn door or I'll kick your rotten heads in! Mommy! "

Yes we would. Since Rome had such a profound influence over the world we would be celebrating the winter solstice or the equivalent of x-mas. I also remember from my ancient hist class that in Babylonia on Dec 25 they celebrated the festival of the God of Nature. All the things we do on Dec 25 they did: gift exchanges, huge dinners, partying, and also singing too.
-
Been to a world history class lately? Ever hear of anything called winter solstice? We can also thank Pope Julius I for making x-mas fall on Dec 25th. Like you stated the winter solstice plays a huge part. The Romans celebrated a holiday right around this time and around 340s or 350s Julius 1 wanted to make it easier for the majority of Pagan Romans to convert to Christianity, thus making x-mas fall right around this time. It's very doubtful that Christ was born on Dec 25th. Also most of the traditions of x-mas are left-overs from Pagan religions.

Comparing pool balls to guns, I dont see the connection. In the past 8 years how many crazy gun weilding psychos have walked on stage, shot the band then turned the gun on the crowd. This is one isolated and horrific incident, so just because this happened we should allow all bars, concerts halls, stadiums and clubs to permit CCW to enter with their weapon. Like I said I dont have problem with law abiding citizens having a CCW, but not in a bar, club, concert or stadium. Also out of curiosity why would you take a gun to a club, bar or concert. Do you fear for your safety that much?
-
I dont have issues with people having CCW if they need to carry one. Perfect example would be diamond dealers in NYC. Walking around with a few hundred thousand or millions in your briefcase or pockets is a pretty damn good excuse to have a CCW. Alteractions at bars are common, last thing that needs to be added to that mixture is a gun.

From someone whos been to god knows how many concerts from Depeche Mode at Doger Stadium to watching Sublime perfom at a small coffee shop in San Pedro that scenario is a bit unrealistic. I've been to a few concerts where fights have broken out, a few knife fights too and all I can say is all they have one thing in common: when this shit hits the fan people want to get the f out and if it means running over anyone then so be it. There were 200 people at this venue and it looked like a small crowded place. Do you actually think you could resist 1/2 of these people rushing to get out and get a clear shot. I'm not against a CCW holder, just saying it's a bit unrealistic what you've described.

Came across the trailer for the remake of the Pink Panther. I love Steve Martin, but he aint Peter Sellers. Why cant they leave good enough alone. I dont think anyone could can approach the combo of Edwards and Sellers. From this trailer it looks like the movie blows. http://movies.channel.aol.com/franchise/exclusives/pink_panther.adp What's next a remake of Being There or Dr.Strangelove.

I'm with you. I hope Peterson has a long ass time to reflect on what he did. He's going to spend the rest of his life, before he gets the shot, in a 6x10 foot cell with two 90min periods a week outside his cell, a shower every other day and a tv he has to share with some 10+ other inmates. To me that would be hell.

My moms been in it for about 4 years now. Way before hollywood got into it as the 'new thing'. Basically the red bracelet is some sort of protection. From what she told me a long red string is prayed over by a few Rabhi's in Israel and then cut into separate sections. You cannot put one on yourself, it has to be put on by someone that loves you (left hand), all the while you are scanning the Zohar or a certain passage from it. Also seven knots have to be tied to the string. She tried to get me into Kabbalah, but I'm not into organized religions.

Law Lords rule detention without charge unlawful
Casurf1978 replied to mr2mk1g's topic in Speakers Corner
Only until London experiences it's own 9/11? Absurd. More Brits have been killed in terrorist attacks in the last 30 years than Americans, courtesy mainly of the IRA. Very true. Wasnt Thatcher and her cabinet almost killed by the Brighton bomber too. No terrorist group has even come that close to the POTUS. One could even say that the bombing of the King Davig Hotel in 1946 was the birth of modern terrorism and it was an attack on the Brits by Jewish terrorists. -
Damn right! a couple of them! An armored car too while I was at it! ---------------- What if during those crimes you might have to kill someone. Would you still do it?

So, who has all the missiles that this shield is supposed to defend us from? North Korea, et.al. please pay attention. Get real. You're telling me we're going to implement a missile shield costing hundreds of bilions of dollars to address the minor and unlikely threat of N. Korea launching one of the handful of missiles with conventional warheads at us? I agree with you. An article on Bloomberg a few days ago stated that over 80% of major cities in the US are underfunded for dealing with with a Bio or Chem weapons attack. Major cities like LA, NYC, Chicago, etc and we're spending 10 billion on this. Just in case Little Kim really loses his marbles and launches a missle at us. Chances are that if a country like NK really wants to attack us they aren't going to use misslies. It's a lot easier to infect a willing person with small pox, send them down a subway in NYC and send the city and rest of the country into a state of panic. Especially if the city is not prepared to deal with that.

At my gym the first few weeks of Jan are pretty bad. That's why I go later on at night around 9ish. Some gyms you can join for a month and check them out. Do this if you can, but remember the peak hours are usually 430-8ish.

Will the judge sentence Petersen to death or LWOP?
Casurf1978 replied to lawrocket's topic in Speakers Corner
Yeah it would. As crazy as it might seem prisoners have their own ranking system and realy dont like child killers like Peterson. -
The media had a field day with this trial here in Cali. You couldnt get away from it. When parts of the autopsy report leaked several coroners stated that the limbs and head most likely were removed before the body was dumped. To think someone could do this to a person, agh he's a sick f*&(k.

From the Sacramento Bee. Pretty Gruesome. http://www.sacbee.com/24hour/special_reports/laci_peterson/story/6830847p-7768347c.html I also remember the news here in Cali saying that the body was missing limbs too. They didn't go into detail but said they could not use dental nor fingerprints to ID the body. Since it was mainly a torso they found.

So basically what prevents me from murdering my neighbor is that I dont want to get the death penalty? Murderers are not saying to themselves "wait I shouldn't kill a cop since I'll have a date with ole sparky." Once you have reached that mindset of murdering someone not much is going to stop you. Peterson decapitated and then amputated the hands of his wife. I really dont think he was too concerned whether he would get LWOP or the DP as he dumped her body over the boat. How about premeditated murder. Those people are not thinking wait I shouldn't do this cuz I will get the DP.
