Hey congrats man. I thought the sniper school for the marines was here in Cali.

Hey I KiteSurf, been boarding now close to 4+years this April. Best advice I can give you is find a reputable dealer. They have to know the conditions you're gonna kite in, your weight and a few other factors. Also get lessons too. I know windsurfing is big in NZ and I wouldn't be surprised if kiteboarding is too so there have to be stores around. Also note boarding is VERY weather dependant. In the last 4 months I've been boarding maybe a handful of times. In the last week I've been out 2 times and might go 4 weeks plus w/o decent weather.

$2.40/G here, cost me about 35-45 to fill up my car. I've seen $3.00/G in Malibu.

Would you say there could be a correlation between increased gambling in college and the new poker shows on TV that are popping up? I've noticed here at work. Many of my colleagues can't stop talking about the poker shows like The World Cup of Poker, or Celebrity Poker. They also hold poker nights one or two times a week.

What a hypocrite. Didn't he say something along the lines of "err on the side of life", maybe he should have been "err on the side of life and as long as you have the money to pay the bills."

This is pretty funny. Here we have a politician who IS NOT a member of the nomination committee, not an MD, but an attorney nominating this Doctor for a prize that doesnt exist. What a freaking Moron. I would like to see the committees reply.
-
He's not mentioned anywhere on the following site. http://nobelprize.org/medicine/nomination/index.html
-
Dr. Hammesfahr is not a noble prize winner nor nominee. Nominees are kept secret for 50 years. So till then we wont know. The whole naming someone a nominee is wrong, no one knows for sure.

I dont know. Ask the cat who shot his owner. -
Caribou aside. Is it worth spending god knows how much money and man hours on reducing our dependence in 10-20 years by 2 percent? We need solutions within a few years not in 2020. This admin wants to put a man on Mars and have station on the moon, yet all Ive heard about reducing consumption is a few lines in a speech. If we lifted the SUV tax on manufactures like GM that would increase tax rev by 10 billion a year. If GM had to pay a few billion a year in taxes because they make gas guzzling engines they sure as hell would have an incentive to produce more fuel efficient ones.

I'd take rain today and a clear weekend. Although mothwr natures being a biatch right now so clear week and rainy weekend.

Actually spaying a female dog reduces her risk of uterine cancer in some cases eliminates it. Talking from first hand exp here, we had to put down our dobie at 10 years old due to uterine cancer. Vet said if we would have spayed her cancer would not have been an issue. Same can be said for male dogs, and testicular cancer. You can't compare spaying/nuetering to declawing. The former does have medical advantages and is not cruel.

You sure about that? Cat's walk with their whole paws, including the part that's amputed in the procedure. You chop that part off and corresponding nerves the cat's not gonna be the same. http://maxshouse.com/Truth%20About%20Declawing.htm Cat's have claws for several reasons, declawing is just wrong IMHO.

2020 will be when it reaches full production and will reduce our dependance on foreign oil by a whopping 2 percent. I say get rid of the gas exemption tax for SUVs and mini vans if you want to see change within the next few years rather than in 15+.

I wouldn't say innocence, but they can get away with murder.

Hell I'm more scared of other drivers than the thousand moving parts in my car. A quick trip on one of our, so cal, freeways will provide several prime examples of said drivers.

He's sold other skydiving gear for cheap too, e.g., AltiMaster II for 30 bucks a Falcon 150 or 190 for $152. Where's he getting this stuff from? Other things he has sold look like junk items: hacking software, rip off t-shirts, old fax machines, ect.

If I would've gotten a girl pregnant in HS my folks would've castrated me w/o anesthesia. Teens are gonna have sex period. Best thing parents can do is talk to them about safe sex and STDs. WOW. That's mind boggling.

Apparently Alaska is the solution to the oil crisis.

Read the DOE report of the impact of drilling in the refuge. Just some tid bits from that report: "The increased production [from the refuge] is projected to reduce net share of foreign oil used by the US consumer in 2020 (2020 not 2005 or 2006) from 62 to 60 percent" At peak production (reached in 2020) oil from the reserve would be 800K barrels a day. The first drop of oil woud not flow till 2011, if drilling were started in 2002. Why does this admin have a boner for this region when the same report states the refuge only has 7.7Billion barrells compared to the 136Billion barrells available outside the Artic refuge. It seems that this admin is only looking at one side to this equation: drill for more oil. Like Kallend said why are SUVs and mini vans exempt from the fuel effiency tax. Why dont we start on the consumption side rather than just looking for more oil. -
minimum wage increase killed by republicans
Casurf1978 replied to sfzombie13's topic in Speakers Corner
I was reading about this yesterday on Bloomberg. You're correct both Dems and Reps had bills, both failed. On a side note the Senate has had around $28,000 total in wage increases aka raises over the last 5 years. That around $5,000 a year. I wonder how many people get $5K raises every year even when the economy is hurting. -
That's a huge assumption youre making. This happened to me in college. Dated a girl for over 4 months, one time I went into her bathroom in the morning, I needed crap for my contacts. As Im searching threw her medicine cabinet I find a new sript for Famvir. I was pissed, but I didnt assume after that that all women are liars. Yeah, HIV is more prominant in the gay community than the hetero one. Yes, they are proactive about combating it. But there are still dumbass out there with the "I wont happen to me" mentality. Shit look at our community. One of my friends told me of a local so cal jumper, 500 so jumps, who got a sub 100 x-braced main AFTER everyone at his Dz told him not to. Now he's in a wheel chair. People do stupid shit. In this day and age sex can fucking kill you. Out of the 400k cases of new HIV infection from 99-03 over 60% are men, out of those 11% are hetero non IV durg users male. Now knowing that the transmission of this bug is very hard in unprotected hetero sex thats a lot of unprotected f-ing around isnt it. How many times did those guys have unprotected sex in order to get this bug.

Both good articles, but the cost of treating 23.9K patients at $15K a year is 385M, when taken as a percentage of Ca's GDP, 1999 $1.3Trillion its aprox 0.0003%. Hardly a huge health care cost. I totally agree with you that knowingly having unprotected sex with an HIV+ indivual is f-ing stupid. Still that's no reason to deny them meds or let them die. In 1998 we, CA, spent more than 7.7Billion treating obesity related illnesses. In 1998 obesity and overweight related illnesses cost our, USA total, health care system 72B USD, 92B USD in 2002 dollars. Yet you dont see me saying withhold the meds from the fat people and let them die.

You're throwing a lot of hype at us w/o backing it up. You say that HIV/AIDS costs the healthcare system money. Where are these figures coming from? How much money is it costing us? You state that theres a 'gay lobby' group hiding figure yet you provide no data as to the group or the real figures. Then you say the following: Have you done your research as to the varing infections rates between different types of sexual activities? Your statement is a huge assumption based on one partner telling the other he or she is positive and the other partner being a willing participant to have unprotected sex with someone who is HIV+. Again where are you getting this data from.

Everyone who is promiscuous should be tested EVERYONE and use protection. Lucklily my dad being an MD drove safe sex and getting tested into my head when I was teen since he knew teens are getting laid left and right and I still had unprotected sex in college and HS. Yeah I was a dumbass. Over 88K women got this bug from 1999-2003, most from positive hetero partner. 1 in 4 Americans has herpes, most dont know and the ones that do sometimes dont mention it. There is no excuse if your f-ing around not to get tested and use protection. I even read somewhere that Chlymadia (sp) is on the rise too. It's not about gay men or straight men, its about being a responsible adult. I guess we are around the same age, by your screenname. Look at your group of friends how many of them have gotten tested for any STD. How do you know this?
