    Yes and no. It's majority rule with minority rights. The 'people' can and have made huge mistakes. Just because some people dont agree with gays or find their sexuality offensive does not give them the power to deny them rights which every human being should be entitled to. If we take religion out of this equation its about granting a minority group basic rights.

    Same here. Packing gives me time to chill and inspect my gear. My all time favorite thing is jumping out of the plane. I just love it.

    You dont have to be either to read up on history. Look up the Gallup interracial marriage poll in 1958. Is 94% a majority? Interracial marriages was enough of a an issue for the SC to step in. At one point in time 41 states outlawed interracial marriage. Are you telling me that if the majority wanted to legalize interracial marriage that these states would not have outlawed it. Yeah we do. It's written down in history books.

    When has 100% of the population ever voted? Enough people voted to outlaw interracial marriages in many states. Billvon is correct the majority in this country did not want interracial marriages. Just like less than 100 years ago the majority did not want women to vote. The 19th barely passed 2/3rsd by two votes in the Senate.

    I know I'm going to get flamed on this but I find that most Americans, lib and conservative, have very poor knowledge of history and geography in general. Like you said most have been exposed to it and thats about it. It's upto the individual to educate themselves if they want to.

    Highly unlikely that would ever happen, but if it did then what could you or I do. Hell people could vote to change the colors to black, white and grey. Which would make for a pretty damn ugly flag and it would be flown.

    Good point. If States wanna fly it go for it, but on the Federal level no way.

    I don't think it should be banned. Like it or not it's part of our nations history. Banning it would IMHO be like trying to forget our past. I'm against flying it on Federal and State buildings, but if someone wants to fly it on their property go for it.

    Careful what you preach. Back in 2001 over $10 billion was given to the airline industry, your industry, in the form of Gov subsidised loans and over 5 billion in the form of grants. Do you think Delta would've survived if goverment assitance wasn't handed out. Personally I was against this. A few airlines would've filed for Chap 11, some would've gone under and others would've emerged stronger and leaner. So it's ok to bail out an industry that's in trouble, but screw people when they lose their jobs or come across tough times.

    I really enjoyed Batman Begins, but still think Burton did a kickass better job. Burton pretty much gave Batman the dark tone on the movie screen, like Aggie said following the Miller graphic novels. Keaton and Nicholson kicked ass, Neeson was a good villian but you cant compare him to Nicholson. Also forgot to mention Kim Basinger playing Vicki Vale.

    I'm more concerned about the parents that feed their kids junk food on a regular basis and dont teach them healthy eating habits. My neighbor has two kids, the older one is obese, the second one is getting there. I'm not talking overwieght, obese as in 250lbs plus on a 16 yo. IMHO that is far worse than lighting up and smoking a cig.

    It offends me when people desecrate the flag, but as disgusting and repugnant the actions they take it's their right to do so. The Constitution as been amended 27 times, one of those was to repeal a mistake. It grants us freedon, not limit them. This Amendment limits our freedom of expression. Do you want your children to have less rights than you had? Like Diablo pilot said, this is not a road we want to go down on.

    Both sides screw each other with equal zeal. Look at what happened to the dean of Harvard Law school. Bush's judicial nominees aren't Saints. Neither were some of Clintons. Pickering got what he deserved, do a little research on him. The 5th circuit court of appeals even said that Pickering violated fundementals laws when making some of his decesions and overturned several of his cases. This is coming from one of the most conservative appeals courts in the nation. This court had three vacancies and the Reps refused to hear any of BCs nominees for fear that he might fill the vacancies. This is even after the court declared a state of emergency due to the vacancies. How many of Clintons nominees got hearings? Look up Jorge Rangel, and Enrique Moreno. At least Ws nominees are getting a chance.

    Please like the Reps played nice during BCs two terms. Both sides do this and to say that one is a poor loser is BS. Didn't Jesse Helms block every single one of BCs Black judicial canidates to the 4th circuit court of appeals. Look at what happened to the current dean of Harvard Law School. Both sides play dirty, and you think the Reps are cleaner than the dems.

    Really glad to hear that you're OK. I jump at snore too and I'm really scared of the DDs. I did some research on them and the dust column rarely exceeds 1KM, but the thermal updraft can reach 3-4KM above the ground. Mind you this paper uses DDs in the Arizona desert. I included a link to the report, it's really really technical but if you scan it it has some useful info.     I didnt mean to trivialize the acts this kid did with the two minors. You cant compare bestality with child moletation, but IMHO isn't it better to protect the identity of the minors and family rather than feed the curiosity of the media and public. As to releasing his photo and name, well isn't that public record. Also if putting more emphasis on his rape of the dog gets more exposure to this story so be it. Do you think we would be talking about it if it just involved the two girls.

    Maybe it focused more on the dog than the minors since they cant release any information on the girls. All that was said was rape, if they released more it might have a bearng on his trial. Either way this kid is a sicko who needs to be put away.

    Highly unlikely, that's why they are fanatics. What scared me most was the willingness of the government to interfere in the Shiavo marriage. Last I heard the parents are seeking alternative legal actions.

    Point I was making is that if you're rich and famous you can get away with murder, just dont mess with uncle sam. In MJ's case do you honestly think you or I would've gotten off scott free. Look at the McMartin pre school trial in Manhattan Beach if you think lay people get the same treatment super stars do. Justice is far from blind, but I would rather take this system than most.
