  1. (SFW, but not exactly something to read before you eat ) http://www.ls2.com/forums/showthread.php?s=299e607a90ccc48e8c38f8bf2d660a6a&threadid=4655&perpage=15&pagenumber=1 Came across that on IRC. Really quite an amusing read (if not somewhat disgusting) - simply for the 'er.. christ, is that for real??!' factor. I reckon he was just playing for attention.. what do you think? 2. Given that one does not have to go far to prove that violent crime victimization can happen easily to any person at any time in any place, that would be my justification for carrying a defensive weapon (and even a handgun qualifies) at any given place and time. Even in the supermarket, or the library, or on the sidewalk, or at the beach. People get victimized by criminals all over the place. It is not a fair presumption that just because an otherwise law-abiding citizen is carrying a weapon that that person intends to use it unlawfully. If that were the case, they could pick me up for attempted rape just because I have a penis, or attempted arson just because I filled a can with gasoline. What you're talking about, it seems to me, is a justification for "prior restraint," which is only legal in exceptional cases (and I can't think of one). No, I'm sorry if you misinterpreted my viewpoint, but that isn't how I see the situation. I was just pointing out how the courts may view the situation over here. If you want my viewpoint on the matter, step back a few pages and look for my post. I think it'll give you a good idea of where I stand on this. 'buttplugs? where?' - geno
  3. Personally... I prefer women without facial hair. There's nothing quite as offputting as getting intimate with someone then realising that no, that scraping on your top lip and nose isn't because of you.. mmmugh. Of course, that's just personal oppinion, each to their own Oh, what? Sorry.. misunderstood the quesiton, honest guv. Errrr. I'm not a lay-dee, so I couldnt possibly comment. Well.. errr.. try just the goatee without the tash? 'buttplugs? where?' - geno
  4. No, I think he's making a valid point. Yes, it's illegal to carry a weapon in most circumstances. After all, by having that weapon upon your person, it raises questions as to why you'd have it. If it wasnt to cause harm to another, why would you keep it? Of course, self defense is a very good reason in deed, but it comes down to the 8st woman vs 12st burglar situation. What's reasonable in the situation. Sure, that's in the article, granted. But this discussion hasn't just centralised over the contents of the article. It moved on - partially by your self-assuming comments based on said article - to a case of commenting on the situation of british law. You made claims which in effect were not entirely true. I'm not being anti-american ("Oh they're not British so they know nothing") here, and I'm sure you could easily know as much or much more about British law than myself, but I must admit I chuckled when you tried to claim to know more about the British legal system - or rather the application thereof - than a Barrister. I do apologise for sweepingly calling you a knowitall - however, the means by which you presented your arguments in defense of your comments did portray you as someone who'd stick to their guns at all costs. I believe there are certain names for people who adopt that manner. Sorry if it isn't you.. Peace!
  5. Check my profile dude. Heheheheheh.. I do love seeing a knowitall getting put in their place.. 'buttplugs? where?' - geno
  6. Not so sure about killing intruders, as that's a double sided knife, but I do think reasonable force being legal is very much nessecary. I may be mistaken, but I recollect hearing something about a burglar falling on something, breaking his leg - and the homeowner being liable. It's this insane legal situation that seems to laugh in the face of reason. In my view, if someone breaks entry into your house, then they do so entirely at their own risk. I know for a fact, if I found an intruder in my house, and I felt I could hurt them without being hurt (badly) back, I'd give them a beating to remember - but not kill.. Is this irresponsible? I dont think so. The fcukers shouldn't have been there in the first place. "Bastards" indeed. Fcuk you too matey. Sorry.. rant over. This is just one of those stupid issues that really gets to me. 17. souleh

    MMORPGs

Planetarion and Earth2025 were the two I played at school.. kinda got bored of the whole genre now though Probably cause I ended up writing one due to sheer mind numbing boredom in lectures, a spacey type one, was alright.. but after you've written a few thousand lines of code on the subject, the beauty starts to seep out of it. *shudder* 'buttplugs? where?' - geno
  18. Mine's a rather boring one I'm afraid.. souleh being short for the original version, soulchylde. I was in one of those deep and meaningful moods, your "soul child" being your personality or something. Yes yes, I agree, it made far more sense back then.. so now it just gets shortened. Plus nobody can remember the full ver, so I tend to get 'souleh' yelled at me.. It stuck, voi la. Though people seem to pronounce it 'soul EH', when it's souly, which kinda annoys me 'buttplugs? where?' - geno
  19. Big thanks to both of you. Unfortunately despite spendng large chunks of today trawling through auction sites, camera shops etc, I've not managed to find anything particularly useful to my budget One friend has a top of the range sony minidv cam, which he said we can use (great!), cost him about £1k - but we need multiple cameras for this one.. http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=2985420432&category=20333 I'm planning to bid on that. Seems a fairly good camera for the price (I'll probably max bid £160 or so) Any last minute 'NO! DONT DO IT!'s?
  20. Kinda student films.. lots of students involved, but not an actual project through the course. Hence why I couldnt get my hands on their top of the range pro DV kit I've yet to actually find somewhere local that'll rent minidv cams - can you believe it! Sucks living in the middle of nowhere (practically) - cornwall - As to lots of people at my DZ having fancy cameras.. I don't have a DZ now, it's closed down 'buttplugs? where?' - geno
  21. Unfortunately, it'd cost me 3-4 times the price of that cannon camera to get a higher quality panavision/equivalent for just one day. And i'd get to keep the cheapie Perhaps I'm going blind, but cheapest I can see on there is £735 a day for a lightweight camera. True, it'd be superb cinema quality imaging, but a bit out of my grasp for what is essentially a home project Thanks for the feedback though.
  22. (Told to post it over here, got the wrong forum.. whoops ) I'm making a small film for a project, and kinda need a video camera. I'm on a really tight budget, so need help and tips (please!) on getting the best bang I can for my buck. Second hand / ebay etc are no problem, I don't mind using those kind of resources. I've got my eye on a Canon MV1 (currently list price £115.00), is this camera any good? Has anyone used one? Ideally I'd like to get a Mini-DV camera to make editing easier and quality best, but it's no big issue as one of our guys can convert pretty much any format to digital anyway. I'd like it to give as clear (think TV-like?) picture as possible! ;) Alternatively has anyone got an old camera that just about fits these criteria they would want to sell me? I can cough up about £150 or £160 ($280/$300) at most, though obviously the less the better! Thanks in advance!
