Depends on the height of the aerial and the type used. A dipole at a reasonable height will kick out around 12 miles. Get a unidirectional or J-Pole up nice and high with perfect line of sight and you could reach 20. Edit: but this isnt really HAM.. the emphasis is on high quality signal output and minimal bleeding

Get a Soundblaster Live! 5.1 digital - they're really cheap (mine was £25 as my mobo onboard sound broke) - and give great 5.1 output, with a digital optical out too. Playing with the EAX stuff is fun

Yeah I was thinking about upping mine to 1gig ddr + new cpu, but my motherboard is fairly old, so to get a cpu worthwhile I'd need a new one. And I've just spent all me money on a variety of new toys (including minidv cam and firewire card ). Thinking my next upgrade will be an xp3000+ and new mobo though. Or get one of those "shuttle" cube PCs - the really small ones - be so much easier to cart around

I get PCCillin came free with mobo, and as yet (12 months) I've never had a single virus on here that it hasnt caught & removed/quarrantined. Edit: Oh and lifetime of free updates, too. Of course, my linux servers never have these problems!! 'buttplugs? where?' - geno

I got Cutaway on DVD @ ebay for £3 :) The expensive one was Joe Jennings' "Good Stuff" sent from the US.. $28 inc P+P.. but worthwhile.. great DVD
