Glad to hear you're ok! A similar thing to that happened to a friend of mine at a party last week. We were all just having fun on the double vodka and redbulls, then got back to mine and he found a bottle of Sebor Absinth in my cupboard. Passed out, spewing up blood, incoherant. It was kinda scary - he was out of it and had alcohol poisoning for two days. We all go slightly easier on the drink now - at least to keep an eye on him! 'buttplugs? where?' - geno

I was looking for an mp3 player a while back, but decided against it. Instead I got a minidisc player - the Sony MZ-N710. It's light, can play for up to 85hrs from a 2hour charge, and because it's MD and not memorystick or other expensive solid state memory, it's cheap to record lots of music. Nearly got one of those mini-hdd based players though.. however, I'm pretty rough, and they're rather heavy (a friend has one), so decided it probably wasnt a good idea :) 'buttplugs? where?' - geno

This is an appeal to anyone in Cornwall, UK, to meet up for a pissup, then hopefully organise some jumps. I get the distinct impression from the DZO at the CPC that they wont be open regularly, but might be able to do jumps for groups of people.. unsure right now, but the pissup would be a good chance to meet up anyhow! I live opposite a pub, so get to play pool and have a few pints from time to time. But I dont really know or get on with anyone from there so I dont tend to ;\ Im now utterly bored on sunday afternoon waiting for time to pass for no apparent reason. The weather's rainy, wet, cold and windy here this time of year. Bring some thermals! A close family friend died a few years back of Cancer. I really do think that it may be one of the worst ways to die.. she slowly deteriorated, on oxygen, sickness, tired, then death months later. Horrible, I wouldn't wish it on anyone. At least with death by stabbing, shooting, burning or drowning is relatively quick. 'buttplugs? where?' - geno

Thanks for all your positive responses, I'll make a note of the tips :) And yes, it's a tandem.. so I expect I will have time to think about what's going on as I go down. But hey - surely that's half the fun. I want to really enjoy the experience - and the fear and adrenaline are all parts of that recipie. Cornwall - the one at St. Ervan (http://www.dropzone.com/dropzone/Detailed/547.html) It's closed right now, but I had a nice long chat with the owner on the phone last friday. Great chap - explained the situation with it's closure, but also told me that they were planning a relaunch of sorts, and had lots of ideas in the planning at the moment. He told me to ring back in a few weeks, so when I do I'll let you know the details. It'd certainly be nice not to have to go up to Exeter to do a jump down here as we're kind of on the toe of the UK - a long way to get anywhere! Got his home number off a website - which he was quite surprised about - moral of the story, dont put it online to start with! 'buttplugs? where?' - geno

I noticed that :-) I've met and spoken to quite a few skydivers in the past few months, and I can honestly say every single one of them has been truely friendly and outgoing. I'm sure it must be a first! On a side note, is anyone here from Cornwall or the south west of England? Would be nice to meet up with someone else around here who's into skydiving as a hobby. Hi there, Totally new to skydiving.. never done one - but last week I agreed to do a sponsored one for the end of november. Can't think about much else since! Found out yesterday that my local DZ is closed right now due to unfortunate bad press and so forth.. so I've got to wait until March or April now! argh! I don't think I can take the wait! ;) I'm really excited and looking forward to it, as I've always wanted to do one but never had the chance. But now what I've agreed to has sunk in, I'm terrified as well :P I'm visualising getting up there and just freezing, then ruining my chance - especially as it'll be for charity. Any reccomendations to help ease the fear and paranoia that comes with a first jump - and a long wait? Looking forward to your replies, I can tell ya! Thanks, Nick.
