You'll probably find what you're using borrowed design off ikonboard/vbulletin anyway.. ikonboard has been around for years..

Hmm, you had a user/daemon process crashing the kernel? Something serious not right there. The system should prevent any kernel memory space being touched by a user process, and I certainly hope you're not running MySQLd as root! It doesn't need a port < 1024, so there's absolutely no need!

Great if your hosting doesnt support PHP or doesn't have a MySQL database for you to use. However, flatfile databases are much slower than using an indexed MRDB like MySQL. Plus perl is what it stands for - string handling + reporting. It's designed as a server-side scripting language and for that it's brilliant. However, PHP is much faster for web-based solutions. If you've got PHP and MySQL have a serious look into PHPBB. I use it myself, it's completely free and very fast. http://www.phpbb.com/ Sorry to be so negative - what you have is looking good though! No, so far it's crap. It's been snowing lightly in little drifts.. nothing remotely nice and exciting, just enough to slow the morning rush hour traffic down to an extra agonising crawl! It's also damn cold. And nobodies around to do anything. And lectures are boring as hell. And I brought me new camera in to have a play with and forgot the damn battery! I think this is one of my blonde 'doh!' days!

If you checked the 'remember me' box on the login page, then yes, they would be able to access it, and yes changing the password should solve it. If you didn't do that, then as soon as the browser is closed, all cookies for the site should be cleared, so there are no problems. 'buttplugs? where?' - geno
