What are your thoughts on Pilatus Porter aircraft?
jumpinfarmer replied to McDirt's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Well there no where as big as an Otter or Caravan but, I think they are a lot of fun to jump from. I have only however jumped one a few times and that was at Paradise Skydivers in Vinton IA. They have a real nice one thats fast as hell. -
I can't really give you any advice. Sorry. What I can say is I know how hard it is to find time to jump. I am not married and don't have any kids but I am a volunteer firefighter and self employed as a snowplow contractor in winter and farmer in the summer. Both jobs can be very demanding and don't have much flexibility to allow time off. If I had a family I don't know how I would balance it out. What I do know is you need some time to your self. Weather thats spent skydiving or bowling makes no difference you still need to get away from the family if only for a few hours every few weeks.

Yep. Just a few weeks ago I did evening chores for a friend so he could go to his sons hockey game. When I was growing up my grandpa had cows on our farm but he sold them before I started farming. I could bore you people for days with stories from the cow barn.

wolves to be killed with few restrictions in wyoming
jumpinfarmer replied to warpedskydiver's topic in Speakers Corner
A diary that was kept by one of my ancestors tells of how he had to climb a tree one night because he was being pursued by wolves. They stayed under the tree until morning when he finally came down. Of course this was in 1809 and things have changed a lot since then. -

Not only livestock but they will also go after people if there is a pack of them. -
I got two today. A four way and a hop-n-pop. Felt good after five weeks of bad weather.

Frontier Sky Divers MOST Expensive place to train
jumpinfarmer replied to JohnElliott's topic in Events & Places to Jump
Hey Matt don't feel bad I got a bashing to after I PMed this guy. And when I tried to respond he had locked his PMs. Must be he doesn't want to hear what we have to say. I'd like to know where he thinks he's going with $1,000 to get an A license. Jimmy! Do you think this guy would go through what we did to get that tuffit you have in the picture? I don't think so. I know I don't make a lot of jumps and am not around every weekend like a lot of you but, I do try to pull my weight when I can. I've got about a cord of 2006 bonfire stacked up next to my house waiting to be delivered when spring comes. -
With all that fashion, you should head up to Couch Freaks next summer.

I went to a stove fire one night and the people could have cared less if we saved there kids or not. They were just worried that we would have a hard time getting there two Harley's out of the dining room where they were stored for the winter.
-
Save them until spring and then I can watch with you when I visit SDC.

I'm sorry to hear. When I lost my dog a few years back it happened almost the same way so I know exactly what you are going through.

The same goes for the Republicans. I like Bush but I also think he does some very dumb things.
-
If anybody knows what point this person is making, could you translate for me? I guess you just can't stand being dumb!

QuoteSounds a lot like how cows, chickens, pigs, and fish are treated in the US ... or anywhere.Quote So where do you get your information on livestock? What makes you an expert on how cattle and hogs are treated?

I'm not a real tailgate fan. I would say in my limited experiance I like Otters best. I do like Porters though as well. -
My uncle had a team and there names were Pete and Jake. I have some old farm pictures with the horses they used to have and the names Pete and Jake seem to come up alot they must have been popular names for horses.

I'm not sure where to post this but here goes. Is there tax on av-gas and jet-A? If so what constitutes an exemption from paying this tax? I ask this after looking over my own tax return which has a couple pages of fuel tax credit info it it. On the pages they mention aviation fuel and exemptions for it. I'm just wondering if some of our DZ's might be missing out on a tax break.

How Do YOU Feel About The Possible Port Purchase and Why?
jumpinfarmer replied to boinky's topic in Speakers Corner
Why can't Americans run there own ports? Are we to dumb? Lazy? I don't think any foreign country should be aloud to run a port or any other type of operation in the US. Maybe I'm just to dumb but why can't we run our own country. -
If I buy an orange tractor do I get a trip to Eloy?
-
Grain corn is mostly starch. You eat that in chips and corn bread. Sweet corn is a vegetable. You need to chew it real well or will pass through the digestive tract almost unscathed.
