  1. If you are a take charge kind of guy go for AFF. If not and just want a one time thrill go tandem. Seeing that you are a climber I would think you would like AFF much more and maybe even find a new passion.
  2. I went to the mail box and found my new B license today.
  3. Welcome abord. Don't worry about going by your self because after a few jumps you will have made some new friends at the DZ. Before long your old friends will wonder why you are never around on the weekends anymore.
  4. When you find someone to give you a lift let me know. Then I'll be out to add a jump in South Dakota to my log book.
  5. Yea I wish I had some pictures of the beauty of the coming storm instead of just the aftermath.
  6. The last one is definently Iowa, big ditches gravel road and corn.
  7. Does it only happen on Friday nights before The Dukes of Hazzard come on?
  8. The sad thing is that I am related to some people like that.
  9. I saw a bill board on the way home from PA once that said "If your partner isn't 18 she will be when you get out of prison" I laughed so hard I almost had to pull off the road.
  10. Had a great time. Hope to see yall next year.
  11. I can't say what really got me thinking about it. I had never been in a plane before and had actually resisted the idea of flying. However I always liked adventurous things. I took a scuba class and dove several times with a couple friends but after they moved away I never dove again. I do remember watching something on TV back when I was in high school, I think it was 48 Hours. They had an episode about skydiving and was at a friends house watching with him and his brother. I do remember saying I wanted to do that some day and they said they would never try it. They are actually the ones that got me into scuba. The whole idea sort of excaped my mind until a guy in our fire department said he had made a tandem jump and couldn't say enough good about it. Still a few more years passed and while driving west on interstate 80 west of Chicago I saw the signs for Skydive Illinois and Skydive Chicago. I stoped at both, but was to chicken to jump. I even had the waver filled out at SDC. Another year went by and the next winter I started to think about it again. I started looking and reading about it on line and decided to give it a try in the spring. The last day of March in 2003 I was going down the same strech of route 80 and this time went right in to SDI in Moris IL and without hesitation signed up and a few hours later made a tandem jump. I never told anyone, after all I never wanted to fly in a plane before. When I got down I was scared shitless and although I acted cool I wasn't impressed and decided I would never do it again. After a few days the whole experience sort of sunk in and I realized I had done the most exciting thing in my boring life and was just to stupid to realize it. The next week I went to a different DZ where they offerd AFF thinking if I could do it my self I might like it better. After that first Aff jump I was hooked. The thrill of free fall and then the silent beauty of the canopy ride is still something I can't describe to a non-jumper. I think that sort of sums it up.
  12. -19-1 19 jumps at Couch Freaks. What an awesome boogie, can't wait till next year. Beer for a first jump from a 206 Cesna and it only cost a buck.
  13. If anyone knows of any devastated volunteer fire departments that need donations let me know. Our fire department voted tonight to give up to $10,000 to help out some of our southern brothers.

  16. Yea we used to stir it with a fork to break the cream up before pouring it out of the pitcher. We were always told that we shouldn't drink un pasturised milk because you can get sick from it. Nothing ever did happen to us though. I sometimes wish we still had the cows, but then I remember how we never went anywhere because of having to be home to do chores twice a day.
  17. Hey grue have you made up your mind if your going to Couch Freaks or not yet?
  18. 2% For me now. For some reason whole milk doesn't agree with me anymore. When I was growing up we had cows on our farm and had whole milk right from the cow just like the article recommends. I don't think it made us any healthier though.
  19. Sunny your comming? I can't wait to see you again.
  20. Sorry to hear that man. I've had to deal with a lot of death in my family this year (some very suddenly) so I know how you are fealing now. Again very sorry and hang in there. It gets a little better every day. Trust me.
  21. Now Sunny you could never be trailer trash. At least in my book.
  22. I could be just as happy with an extra cool million if you don't want it.
