When I first heard about this show I ignored it. I don't care much for westerns, and this was billed as one in space. Didn't care much when it got canceled and didn't think it was worth all the hype the fanboi's gave it....much less worthy of a movie. Was I wrong. I happened to catch an episode recently and now own the DVDs and can't wait for the movie this weekend. Funny thing is I hated Mal when he was on Buffy as the Preacher and the same for the actress that played Jasmine on Angel...I thought they were just dry/terrible actors. Due to my work schedule I am only half way thru the DVDs, but I can't believe how much I like this show. I promise you that many priests have had sex sometime in their life. There are quite a few people that were active in their dating life while we were in college...some hetro, some homosexual. So, what is really the issue here? The fact that someone has had sex or something else? If they are celebate now what does it matter? I will also tell you that many priests are homosexual (prob even some you already know) - but have not been active in their sexlife since they became a deacon. There is a significant size of the priest population that was gay at one point. Scared of what they will teach your kids? If they are a good priest they will teach understanding, not to judge (that is left for God), compassion, faith, strong humanistic beliefs, the Golden Rule, and so forth. Would you have an issue with a secular homosexual instructor teaching your kids? That person could be far more active in their personal beliefs than a priest. People tend to forget there isn't much of a difference between you and a priest. They do not have a stronger faith, they are not less of a sinner, they make mistakes, they get things wrong, and they are just as human as you. These are people that chose to spend eight years of education on the church to help preach the Word of God; to dedicate their lives to living by those words. Each has their own interpretation of what that means just like you. No matter what you will eventually have a conflict with what a priest will preach/teach due to your own personal beliefs - will you let ignorance and lack of understanding be one of those reasons? Very unique - not sure I understand the graphic coming up out of the heart. The artist did a great job - how long was that sitting? 4 hours? I agree, the outlines always seem to hurt more than filling the ink in. Take care of that red ink - I have a heart that faded within a year. To avoid conflict of interest and more drama - those board members that are DZOs did not vote. It was not a representation of their thoughts on this topic. Imagine what could be said if a DZO did vote to revoke the GM of their competition? That would be just as unethical. DZ.com, SDAZ, or anyone taking legal action against Skyride have nothing to due with hurting your friends. This is something that has been going on for years and most in the sport knew about it. In fact, long before you were in the sport there was an article in Skydiving about ASC advertising only on a local level to steal business from the surrounding states. Most of this discussion took place on rec.sky, and a good portion of us in this thread spoke up about it back then. It wasn't until this became something that impacted the entire sport that more got involved. As said above, what was happening out of ASC was not a secret to anyone. Those that stayed there despite that knowledge only have themselves to blame for their decisions. It's been said for over a year now that legal action WAS coming. It's been known for close to two years that official requests to stop deceptive practices have been issued to Skyride and the owners. This was in Parachutist, Skydiving, Rec.Sky, the USPA meetings, and DZ.com. Many have left ASC because they saw the greed and how it was having a negative impact. They also realized that when the axe came down it would hit them. Those that continued to accept Skyride certificates and those that worked for them only helped bring this issue to where we are at right now. Legal action could have been avoided if B&C did the right thing and ran an ethical company (they had their chance but chose otherwise and it seems they find new limits to how far they will go each year), or if the community helped cut off their cash flow. Fraud is a very vague term, but it works when trying to get your marriage annuled. As someone else pointed out - annulment and divorce are two different things. What could consitute fraud? For example, if he said he wanted kids before they got married and then told her later he never wanted kids that could classify under that category. It could be that when the divorce is filed, a different category may be used (I think there are only a few to choose from, right?) I'm certain that listing it as that is to try to obtain some level of privacy in a very personal matter. That being said, why do people love to feast on the misfortunes of famous people? Is it the slowing down for a car wreck mentality? I have enough reality and drama in my life therfore I do avoid the trash mags and reality TV. It's all the same to me. Saw them a few years back - they still rock. However they are not worth the cost they were charging. I'll rent the DVD when it comes out.
