  1. Damn good game. 1-0? Now that was a real baseball game. Fundamentals, no bad calls, no juiced ball, making one hit count. Backe? That kid outpitched all the other Astros pitchers in the Series. Thanks for a good series - you made us have to win those four games. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... 2. Notice no riots or any of that stupid junk? Just fans finally enjoying what should have been our so many times before. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... I WILL fly again.....
  3. It's like a fine wine..... And god damn, it taste amazing! HEY HEY!!! GO GO SOX!!!! WORLD CHAMPS OF BASEBALL! hehe...plus I made a decent amount of cash on my Vegas bet! woot! _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... 4. Sox fans are born as well. It's like a piece of defective genetic code that is passed on to each generation on the South Side....just like anything else down here (Irish, Catholic, Democrat, etc ). Not only has it been years of suffering...it's been being the OTHER loser team in town. Growing up sitting in an empty Comiskey Park....bonding with those people that remember that buying bleacher seats meant you had front row Golden Box seats behind home plate.....never leaving until the game was finished because if you did there would be almost no one there to cheer your team on in case they rallied to win. That's where we learned to love the small ball because outside of guys like Bull and Kittle there wasn't much. We learned that Winnin Ugly was the way to go....and outside of that we only had Disco Demolition and the Shoeless Joe to get all dreamy about. Then we had to deal with poor TV/Radio reception broadcasts and the only coverage we got in the media was when something went wrong at the park. Loving the Sox became something more than just a friendly sports fan thing....it became part of you. Old Comiskey Park was our Home - as a die hard fan you had free run of the park, your family and friends worked there, you would recognize the other fans you saw there, you stayed thru those 6 hour rain delays, Andy the Clown knew who you were.....I've never seen so many people cry when the wrecking ball finally hit it. That's why the Sox fans were the first ones to complain about the new park.....and now 15 years later as the park has been reshaped into something more like home, it's nice to have it feel like home with a good strong small ball team again. But for the South Side it's more than just a victory or a world championship. It's about it finally being OUR time. The South Side is that other side of town that most tend to ignore. I still see it on a daily basis - telling professional people in my field that I choose to still live on the South Side and them acting as if I have the plague. It's retribution and justice for those of us that make this part of town our home. Many of you may roll your eyes at this, but if you didn't grow up as a South Side Sox fan.....you just won't understand. Is this Heaven? No, this is the South Side.
  5. Since I never rate what makes a man attractive, it's a non question to me. I'll leave that one to the women. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... I WILL fly again.....
  6. Any woman that smokes is not attractive. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... I WILL fly again.....
  7. Heh...I remember that. Poor kid. He hasn't been perfect as the third base coach in the off season. Plenty of "what was he thinking" was asked a few times. But still playable. But the fans had a right to go for it, just like Bartman and the rest of the Cubs fans did a few years back. Like I said - we don't blame things on missed foul balls, we just keep playing. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... 8. Bud Light presents, real men of genius, Today, we salute you, Mr. Cub Fan-Bandwagon Jumper White Sox fan. As you drive like a nervous wreck down the Dan Ryan in the Mercedes that your parents bought for you, you wonder, "Will the South Side Faithful accept me and my sweater-vest and Heineken-drinking ways?" You arrive at the ballpark only to realize that "Hey, there's no Ronnie-Woo-Woo here, but only countless look-alikes selling shirts that say, "Cubs Suck", and "Cuck Da Fubs." But this doesn't offend you. Why? Because now you're a Sox fan, dammit, and to prove it you put on your newly purchased White Sox cap, only to be ridiculed by a real Sox fan, who says to his buddies, "Wow, look at that douchebag." So crack open an ice cold Bud Light oh Fairest of the Fairweather Fairies, because if it's the Blue Jays that make the playoffs next year, you might have to carry around a new pet bird like the little b*tch that you are... (yes, I AM enjoying this. Esp since those bastards did have my tickets! And it was a Cub fan that sent that to me) _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... I WILL fly again.....
  9. Shock. Tragic. End of the world stuff here!!! Someone doesn't like guns and will use one in a movie!! That's almost as bad as non-smokers taking a puff on a cigarette in a movie! The Horror. Hmmm...maybe that's why they call it acting? nah.... this thread is proof that some people take life and certain issue way too damn serious. grow a sense of humor for fucks sake. not everything that involves a gun is a platform for you to stand taller on your soap box. sometimes life is just life and people will live in ways that don't agree with yours. damn it. I wasted part of my life reading this drivel...then made it worse by responding to it. bet it recieves some veiled PA of some sort. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... 11. Oh - Dusty Baker wasn't so gracious in the latest ESPN magazine. Asked who he would cheer for in the postseason and he said "Certainly not the White Sox." This coming after Oz has defended the guy against our nasty sports media all season long. Oz's reply last night? "Let's see who owns this town after this series." We may be the #2 team in this city, but I can't ever lose an argument to a Cubs fan again - I'll just point to my World Series hat and smile _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... 12. Go Garcia!!!! Maybe he can pitch the winning game and get a hit as well! _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... I WILL fly again.....

  15. Have to like Guillen, he seems to be the only one on either side who looks relaxed and laid back. My friends and I have started calling him "El Coach" as he shares a lot of traits with Ditka. As a kid I always had a Guillen jersey - one of my all time favorite players. Finally got to shake his hand in 1990 as he walked barefoot around old Comiskey Park after the last game. I cheered for the Marlins when they won the WS because Ozzie was their Third base coach. He was always one of the best defensive players I saw while growing up - and it was his style of play that got me into baseball so many years ago. Now I have so much respect for him as a coach and hope to god he doesn't retire after this series. Or the foul ball that was taken away from Paulie? Nah, seems like that is a National League thing to do. There were plenty of "what if" situations in the game last night - but thats what baseball is all about: the human factor of the game. Hell, most of us grew up thinking "what if it was the bottom of 9th in the world series...tied game and I was up to bat with the bases loaded......." . It's a sport for dreamers. After all, we celebrate those that statiscally are failures (cheering for guys that only hit the ball 3/10 plate apperances). _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... 16. Longest World Series game ever, most pitchers ever used, most players ever used and Pods had most at bats ever with 8. I still can't believe we got out of the ninth - 1st and 3rd with one out situation....a pitcher that hasn't seen any action in close to 30 days and Oz leaves him in. It seemed that after the 9th both teams gave too many chances away....and if Houston won in the 14th last night it would have been a whole new series. 27 more outs for Chicago history. Why am I still so damn nervous? _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... I WILL fly again.....
  17. ....what an incredible game...pitcher #9 (our starter!) for the Sox tonight....it's 1:20am here....finally!!!! we win! omg, my heart. damn. one more win for us..... _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... 18. SHIT below 71 try below 75 Damit! 57F here, several windows still open here, still wearing shorts. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... I WILL fly again.....
  19. Ok...just caught this. WTF?! How the hell are you a Cubs fan? Poor misguided child. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... I WILL fly again.....
  20. Like Lane's homerun that just wasn't? The officiating has seriously sucked this post-season. Blues, Dave hah...I was just thinking that! haha (listening to the Houston play by play as well - they admitted it wasn't a homer..and they also said how beautiful the weather was with zero wind) You know what I did? I turned off the audio of Joe Buck because I couldn't care about his obsession of showing the replay over and over and over and over and over and over and over and over......for fucks sake. Just play the damn game. Houston got a lucky call...but we kept focus and turned it around anywhow (10 batters and 5 runs off their ace pitcher in one inning....and a childish bean ball on Crede, yea the Cards have more class than this team). Let's see what happens now. But I'm sure all of this is happening because the roof is open _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... 21. Why the change in dates? I gave you a suggestion a while back about short term stays and turning in your wrist band a while back....did that make it to the list? _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... 22. You know I wasn't aware the Astro's had such guidelines. If MLB is responsible for making the decision during the World Series, it kind of makes sense that they would simply follow the guidelines the home team already has in place, doesn't it? Blues, Dave now now....that's just being logical....it's much better to be fanatical in this situation _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... I WILL fly again.....
  23. If that was true then MLB wouldn't take the majority of the tickets for the World Series. Only about 2500 tickets went on sale here, and with about 10000 season ticket holders that means MLB took over 30k seats that WHITE SOX FANS could have used...you know, those fans that have been here all year. Even the fans that purchased 2006 season tickets (an additional 5000 or so) couldn't get WS tickets due to the MLB. Read the rules/fine print - MLB own everything in this sport. They get to overturn just about anything they want. I find that hard to believe and will hit my sports history books once I finally get home tonight. I do remember Selig making calls about the All-Star game - making sure it mattered (home field advantage in WS), and calling an early end to an actuall game. If a little bit of noise is the only advantage you see with that park, then you are blind. I remember a certain coach from a certain St Louis team that didn't feel that the umps were getting all the calls right in the NLCS. In fact, I think he was upset because all the bad calls were going for Houston. He got so upset he was tossed from the game. Funny how bad someone's short term memory can be. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... I WILL fly again.....
  24. 71F, cloudless - beautiful day, perfect day for baseball. Houston rules says for roof to be open if there is good weather under 80F. This ruling has happened in the past with other teams. Yea, I see how this is a plot to get Houston Get over it And Garner....he HATES the White Sox owner.....used to bitch about him when he was with Milwaukee. I'm sure he is happy to have something to fuel his fire again. _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me....
