It is easier to walk thru life with the blinders on and not question anything. Leaving the comfort zone of ignorance is too much for many people and may shake the foundations of ignorance they were raised on. Also - short term, selective memory also helps fuel their misguided angst. Despite our best efforts to piss off the entire world, a large portion of the countries out there offered and organized aid for the Gulf Coast after the string of deadly hurricanes. Most of that aid sat unused as pride got in the way of using what was available. Sure, excuses can be made - but in the long run we choose to borrow money from other places that most likely cannot afford the loss of those funds...esp since our war funds have drained us of so much already. Enjoy taking pleasure in the misfortune of others to further an ignorant opinion on another country? Because nothing like this ever happens anywhere else? When somebody makes a soap box out of this sort of tragedy I tune out and can't hear the point they are trying to make. Kick a man while he is down, huh? However, it is a different culture. This may sound cliche, but it is very hard to make it out of those neighborhoods. Not because the children there are sub-par, but many things are missing to help them get to the next step, too many things missing for their parents, etc....and too many strong negative incluences that are often too much for any young mind to overcome. I didn't understand this until I spent a couple summers living in those neighborhoods and spending time in their lives. That area of Chicago, for the most part, is mostly minorites. The graduation rate is terrible and the mortality rate of those that leave is even worse. It is an issue that has been a topic for many years. Is it right or wrong? Eh, I'm not going down that road as too many uneducated opinions will stem from that. However, something needed to be done - I'm curious to see if this will have a positive outcome. Those cameras are all over Chicago now. Our Mayor loves to empower the Dept Of Revenue to find new ways to get massive increase of funds. Anyhow - a trip to traffic school informed me that anything put on a license plate in this state is illegal. In fact they can write you a ticket if you don't remove the previous yearly tag before putting on another one (mostly to stop people from putting them all over the plate). Those plate holders are considered illegal in IL since they can block some of the plate, and the grey/smoke plastic covers also used to disrupt laser guns/cameras are illegal. Guess I just haven't been paying attention to this news story. So, from what I was told at work today: -a pandemic called the spanish flu happened years ago that was a version of this -it goes bird to bird, and bird to human, but not human to human -chance that it could mutuate and go human to human -the mutation on each jump could make it hard to come up with a way to stop it. -could be a pandemic if that happens. cats and dogs living together, mass hysteria SO....what I can tell is there isn't anything you can do other than wash your hands and stay away from sick/dead birds. I believe that search bar is classified as spyware - try using adaware and search and destroy to see if they remove it. Hijack this is also a great tool for removal of this sort of thing. Went out with a girl in college that did this....detroyed part of her stomach - ate away at tissue and caused bleeding. Required surgery to fix and had digestion issues afterwards. Mark, Good luck man. I've heard both good and bad about working with EA. Hopefully you will find the good....but I'll tell you this after been in IT for far too long....most of these jobs are what you make of them. No, it definitely wasn't as stupid of a scene as when the Bulls won, I'll give you that, but people were still being stupid. Watched WGN news this morning and they made no mention of it. Figure the Tribune company would be the first to report something like that. I was living on the west side one summer when the Bulls won. I spent the night in the basement with my baseball bat - the riot was that bad. One or two people being stupid? Ok, I can handle that over a riot or what happened on Division street in 2003. Last night? I was out standing on the street with the rest of my neighborhood (south side) and taking it all in.
