How is that any different than a conversation that is too loud? I find it interesting to watch people in an elevator get upset with someone on a cell phone. If the same conversation and level of tone happened to be with a person standing there.....what is the difference? Rude people are rude people. It always amazes me that someone can get so upset about a person they have never met and most likely never will. With that in mind they pass judgement on this person from the short few seconds of information the television chooses to show them. It must be so hard to be better than everyone else and be able to sit from your couch and judge the world. I don't envy those people . Being that perfect must be hard....much harder than those trying to be the best in the world in a sport. I have respect for anyone that gives up everything to try to be the best in something they have such a passion for. The worst part about the Olympics is watching those individuals that have dedicated countless years and money only to lose by a fraction or an unexpected injury (my friends wife is one of those people - knee injury, figure skating just as she got invited to try for the olympics). _________________________________________ you can burn the land and boil the sea, but you can't take the sky from me.... I heard the audio this morning - I heard Jay-Z just going 'uh huh' and 'yea' during this so called duet. haha... Why watch award shows? You can catch the best parts in about 10 minutes via the internet the next day. Watching the movie 'Doom' was a better use of my time....and that isn't saying much Wonder what happens in a few years when CDs fade away and we only have digital audio. And with that excuse you enable the media to act however they want? I haven't heard anything from Spears or her media camp in some time. She has become more of a private citizen. The pictures are proof that she was being followed. She was alone at the moment with her child - and there has been news stories in the past of people stalking her. How was she to know what their intentions were? In a perfect world she would have never done this and in a perfect world her privacy during her free time would not be invaded. You claim "obviously safe in her car." Where is that obvious? Going to believe the vultures that stalked her? Or are you going to believe her publicist trying to spin this into something good? Everything around this is suspect. Again, your negative reaction to this is exactly what they wanted. You've been played by the media. Why in the world are you getting upset over this person you have never met, and most likely never will meet? I doubt this will have any impact on the lives of 99.9% of the people going nuts over this story. It's just something to complain about. I drive a car with a good safety record, airbags, ALB, etc. My backseat has been a place for carseats as well. Personally speaking, I trust them as much as I trust my AAD, so I drive as if I don't have them. I'm glad I wear mine as I have needed when I was hit by a drunk. However a short drive to safety away from idiots is not the end of the world disaster people are making it out to be. Nor does it discard 20 years worth of car safety information. What we as a culture haven't learned from and continue to make mistakes with is the media. The trash magazines and tabloids still sell. Somehow this story is BREAKING news that actually came before Iraq war coverage this morning!!! This isn't news, this is trash as are all the people involved in it. The daily doings of Britney Spears should have no emotional effect on your life unless she is a close friend or hated enemy. This is sensationalized junk meant to gain your viewership so someone can make money. Reacting to this is the same as bitting on a forum troll hook. I agree - I remember in 1980 sitting in the front seat of my mom's 1972 LeMans without a seatbelt holding my baby sister. You're probably right but the situation is still very sad on her part especially since she was on the PCH, a very busy road with a lot of traffic. In the very least, the bodyguard should have gotten in the back seat and she should have handed the baby off to him to get him in his car seat while she was driving. Since she was "escaping" the paparazzi, I'm sure she wasn't exactly driving slowly either. I agree - could have been handled better by her. And if she was speeding down the PCH, these media were giving chase only making the situation worse for her and anyone else on the PCH. No doubt. It was stupid. But people are acting being played by the media on this...and due to their reaction we are certain to see more of this behavior. Fact is, if she wasn't attacked by camera men that then gave chase, this would have never happened. Have you seen what the paparazzi can do? How they act? They can get anywhere from $15,000 to $50,000 just for one picture that would show the baby or her on a bad hair day. They invade privacy and were most likely a threat to the safety of her child. These camera folk break laws to grab these photos. Breaking a car window for $50k may seem like a good trade off for them. Was it smart for her to do that? No, of course not. However, she most likely went into a panic and took off. How do you think anyone would react if a crowd of money hungry individuals with no regard for your life or those you care for invaded you? Honestly, I can't believe how many people are judging her and this situation. People pay too much attention to these people, want as much info/pics of them as possible and then turn on them when the medium used to get that info endangers their lives. Those that claim she 'deserves' anything need to get over themselves as they were not there and don't know everything that happened. We also do not know if their have been threats made to her or her child from over-zealous fans. The best part about this? The paparazi made media out of their efforts - thus driving up the cost of these pics. The media frenzy and those jumping up about this story have just been played. They were just playing up the daughter aspect of the show. Maybe he saw the girl and thought of his daughter (yea, I know she is older now). I thought it was lame - I turned to my roomate and said she was going to kill the russian man to complicate the story line. I also wondered if she wasn't part of the plot as well. Next weeks previews show Jack getting captured again. Geesh. Twice in one day? I'm already thinking to the end of the show - how does Jack get out of this. And then I wondered, has there been talk of a Day 6? Maybe this is the last season for Jack Baurer? Maybe he ends up dead? Yeah, ephedra products are banned in Illinois because a few kids went and got killed. Dropped dead on the football practice field in high school. You expected logic? He is just trying to position his party so they don't lose the election this year. The rhetoric and talking points (sans substanance) has already started. They are betting on the typical short term memory this country seems to have in relation to politics. Make promises that extend beyond his 4 years in office - this way no one can hold him accountable when the next administration makes changes (much like he did for air polution, etc). Outside of that - it was nothing new. I've heard every bit of stutter based comments across the last 5 years.
