What is so evil about requiring id to vote?
cvfd1399 replied to Anvilbrother's topic in Speakers Corner
I would argue that it is, but let's say your right today it isn't, but they figure out no one is monitoring, and becomes a huge issue. How do you deal with it then? -
What is so evil about requiring id to vote?
cvfd1399 replied to Anvilbrother's topic in Speakers Corner
Ok you say its too intrusive to require people to get an ID to vote. Then how do you stop legal Americans from voting dozens of times, prevent illegal immigrants from voting, or verify the integrity of the vote? Or are you saying that all of the above is ok? "Vote early, vote often" is the course we are going. -

What are you talking about man? I asked a simple question about requiring voter id and registration. -
Im still getting this error. Service Temporarily Unavailable The server is temporarily unable to service your request due to maintenance downtime or capacity problems. Please try again later. When it is working, it is painfully slow. Today I am from a different computer, and a different IP, so the problem is not on my side.

Ok fuck me yea I diddnt remember it exactly, but my intent was to tell you guys about that bit of information. There was no malicious intent it's just how I remembered it. I found it and clarified what I said. From now on I will only post 27 links of the same thing just to satisfy the need to not to be bitched at. Fuck I thought this place was to discuss things, not fucking drop links consisting of 1000% hard facts. It stil remains i fucked up and diddnt remember it right but the truth is the cdc proposal was nixed by Obama in 2011 is what I was referring to. Fuck this place...

First off I never asserted that what I was talking about was exact.. I even said I would have to find it. 75% of what I was talking about I found for you. Who cares that it wasnt related to the border, that was insignificant details pertaining to ebola, the main point was about the cdc proposal that got nixed. What it boils down to is I stated there was something in 2011 that could have prevented this, or helped track him down faster that was crushed by obama, you called bullshit, I found it, now you want to nit pick what I said. Get over it. You act like you remember word for word everything you have ever read or heard.

I'm with you, I think he had a reason to defend himself and will not be charged. It would also not surprise me if despite a real world justification, that the Feds pressure him to be charged somehow. -
Bullshit they even have a Facebook page! https://www.facebook.com/purple.unicorns11

You can't support that it doesn't do what I said, so I don't believe what you say either....

What! So how is it ok for tyrant of the majority to be invoked on people who lose a local mayors race, or state governors race, but holy shot let's not do it on the national level?
-
We know that's not how it works, and it's unconstitutional, we are talking about how/why it would or would not work. If you can vote for one person or another, then you can easily set up the voting to allow a yes or no vote for gay marriage, gay healthcare rights, etc.
-
Say that exact same thing the guy above us. He thinks just because the whole god damn plan is not laid out there for him to see, then it's not possible it works other then how he fucking thinks it does.
-
Why do you think they wanted to maintain the data, for a booty call later?? It was to proactively and retroactively track people from an infected country...period.
-
i don't give a shit if they know where I have gone...I sign up for a flight online, pay with a credit card, scan my id at the airport, and subject my self to inspection by the airport security, what part of privacy do you think you have right now?? I would be thrilled to be contacted that I might have been exposed to Ebola if I was on a flight with someone that was found out to have it!!!!! Compared to your government stay out of my privacy world where no one knew who was on the flight to contact and you all died I'll take the first one.

Ok so using bill's example of gun rights vote after a shooting. If 51% of the people voted against a gun ban and it lost in the "majority/tyrany" situation then the 49% would get shafted as you say. But how is it fair in our current system if majority of the people do not want a gun ban, but the Supreme Court makes it legal anyway ok? How is a direct majority vote not invoke a majority/tyranny in a local or state election but it does on a federal level? When my mayor gets elected by a 51-49 margin how is that not the same as a gun ban getting 51-49 on a national level?

I wasn't wrong, just had the details about what package the plan was in, and why, but the fact that he nixed a plan was the main topic I was trying to remember, and I was correct, so quit being a dick. And the rest is your interpretation of that plan. It was supposed to track travelers to allow the U.S. to find people who visited countries with a breakout proactively and retroactively.
-
I can't believe you are against a system that would help stop someone from coming to the us with Ebola and possibly infect somone you love. Don't want to be tracked by the government lmfao! Do you own an iPhone, computer, credit card? Hell have you driven on a U.S. road lately? Those traffic cameras actually go somewhere and are recorded.

Your missing the part where it mandated that airlines collect and maintain contact information for fliers in case they later needed to be traced as part of an investigation into an outbreak. Soo... Outbreak happens in Africa, government requests records from airlines showing travel destinations and names, and see where people have been. They then manage High risk, or possibly infected travelers via that database. That's what I was referring to. Obama. Nixed this, see my post above.
-
Yea the system is real good when you have 6 states that decide who is president, and get 4 presidents who were elected despite majority of Americans wanting the other candidate. ...and this happens . Wiki swing states article.
-
I know that there isn't, im just thinking that if there was a majority wish in the nation that something like this would exist. Are you arguing against making gay rights legal faster is a bad thing? Are you also saying that if majority of the country wished for something to be a certain way that some bribed up politicians or some old ass judges should be able to prevent the will of the majority of america? I bet you are one of the kinds of people that when an office votes on what to order for lunch and you don't get your wish you cry about it.
-
That's all I'm trying to say, I figured enough people supported gay rights these days a national vote would just pass it and get it out of the way, obviously people here think that's wrong to do. However you fairly do it, just get it over with, and move on to the other things we need to be doing.
-
Yea its really moving along.... Gay rights started in the 1950's From the OP's article You know lets just mozy around this issue.....You miss my point, pass the rights or not and move on, like by the end of this year if possible. You cant possibly say your satisfied with the governments actions on a debate that started 64 years ago, and have progress in 2014 being reported as "punt the issue", "sidestep the issue", "premature to intervene", "no need for us to rush"...do you?
-
Here you both go....Sorry it was 4 years ago, and I did not remember the exact specifics, but I knew it basically nixed plans to prevent diseases spread by travelers. http://usatoday30.usatoday.com/news/washington/2010-04-01-quarantine_N.htm The bold part is what I was talking about. People can lie about were they have been on forms, I was told they do not always stamp passports so that does not work, but this would have required airlines to track where people have flown to and from. This would have helped us identify and not allow travel in to the U.S. or quarantine this guy no matter if he was sick or not.
