  1. Generally you use someone you both trust. If you have never heard of this rigger maybe he is not the best guy to use. Why don't you ask your DZO if he has ever heard of the rigger. If not then ask him or your rigger if they know any reputable riggers in that city. Another choice would be the other guy's DZO.
  2. A purely service based economy is impossible; there must be some industrial goods. By the same token a purely industrial and service based economy cannot exist; there must be some agriculture. That does not mean that Singapore should begin hiving off large (for them) tracts of land for agricultural use. We have trade for that. The decline of North American manufacturing is necessary if we are to maintain our superior standard of living. In Canada we worry about having manufacturing jobs but no head office jobs or research facilities as US corps swallow all our domestic producers. US (and Canada) need cutting edge manufacturing facilities so we can not only keep ahead, but sell that know how to others. Run of the mill manufacturing that uses old tech and labour must be done by others. It is either that or have our consumption fall to world levels, and we certainly don't want that.
  3. Perhaps you should re-evaluate your choice of canopy.
  4. Shall we say within his first term for ten jump tickets at winner's choice of DZ in the US?
  5. Yours is assembled in your living room, but where were the components manufactured? You are correct that I would need to change rigs, but I am not the one arguing in favour of commercial isolationism. My point is that we all lose when we succumb to it.
  6. you'd not be able to skydive until you got a new rig. And you'd not be seen on DZ until 2010. There are rigs made outside the US and DZcom comes from Canadian servers regardless of who owns it. Of course unlike most of the people on here I am using a made in USA computer. My point is the standard of living enjoyed by Americans is to a large degree dependent on international trade. Microsoft, Intel, Boeing, Caterpillar, the list goes on. The number one mistake our leaders can make during economic downturns is to throttle world trade.
  7. And this is different from your CURRENT Senator, how? Hillary DID get elected.
  8. What would happen if the rest of us spent "a year without Made in USA?"
  9. Her last name is Kennedy and not Khadija. I think that counts for a little less than half the country. Hence my princess crack.
  10. She is way more qualified than Palin How so? Palin has served municipally and Gubernatorally. Her depth of service would not stand up well against some of the others rumoured for the NY seat, but It is still a better record than Kennedy's non existent one.
  11. Anyone think she has a shred of credibility as a candidate for Senate appointment? I mean besides the fact that she is a princess.
  12. And these days in the good ole' US, you'd probably have a simple assault charge placed on you too. If the reporter gets any more than that, it will be an injustice. In Iraq there is a specific law against insulting a foreign dignitary.
  13. Can we get a "throws shoe at Mod" icon?
  14. It's called quantitative easing and they have already started.
  15. (sigh) It warmed up to -11F today. It was -20 on the weekend. Of course with the wind chill it was -40.
  16. So was it a drogue in tow or was it a bag lock?
  17. Waah, Waaah, Waaaah. Redskins are in their rightful place in the basement of the division.
  18. He didn't tell America what he feels. He didn't say anything. He took his fucking shoe off and threw it at the President like a child having a hissy fit. If you think behavior like that is appropriate in any situation then there's no reasoning with you. It's absolutely boggles my mind that people would defend assault on the President. If the US was occupied what would your reaction to the leader of the occupying nation be?

    Dog problem

Good dog. Keep him on a lash for a while. The villagers probably understand better than you think. Nobody really likes a poodle.
  20. So maybe we should let GM fail and bail out the parts suppliers. After all, they have a viable strategy (supply the other manufacturers) if they survive
  21. I drove from Lost Prairie to Quincey once. A week later I drove to Lodi chasing a girl I met at the convention. Generally you travel faster than the Googlemaps people say you will so it is really just a one day non-stop. The return trip will be the boring one.
  22. So what are the really scary guys in that annex to the pentagon doing with this?
  23. So does that mean you are in favour of government money for some auto manufacturers, but not others.
