Let's hear it for Sheriff Paul Babeu of Pinal County AZ!
Andrewwhyte replied to ryoder's topic in The Bonfire
Mobile photo radar was abolished in British Columbia a few years back. During the debate the facts came out that over 80% of the huge amount of gross revenue it generated was chewed up in costs. When you factored in the opportunity cost of the officers involved it really didn't make sense. I am in favour of red light cameras, although I have never heard of the "shortened yellow" trick. I am also in favour of fixed photo radar at high accident locations. I do think that they should be marked as photo radar sites. -
What part of "God's Chosen People" don't you understand?

I think the most important duty of an instructor is to drive home the idea that the individual jumper is responsible for themselves. For those who are uncomfortable with that we have tandems. That said I think we all have to be determined to not be the target of instructor shoppers. We all have seen them, if they don't get the answer they like from one instructor, they try another. Far too many instructors just want to be loved so much they will relax the rules in order to be the cool instructor. They allow jumpers to attempt what they are not ready for, and they pass students and novices for tasks they have not sufficiently mastered. There are others who will relax the rules because they think they are too stiff anyway. This is even more insidious because it undermines the entire USPA/CSPA/BPA etc. network of instructors. The system works because we take the signature of a rating holder at face value even if we don't know the individual. IEs need to be more diligent in identifying these people during courses.

I guess the question is what made that outburst so predictable? Could it be,..... LOGIC?

how does this work? (senator select burris)
Andrewwhyte replied to TrophyHusband's topic in Speakers Corner
Yes, it seems that if Reid's view was true to the extreme they would simply vote not to seat any Republicans. -
That may be true but those who don't get appointed only win the next election (in NY) on out of every 19 million times.

I presume that would be a part of the enforcement process . Are you in the military Andy? Blues Cliff No.

While the new Admin is likely to be more gun controlly than the previous one, I highly doubt there will be a house to house search any time soon. We have had gun control in Canada for almost forty years, but no house to house searches yet.

I suspect the meat of the question is would you be willing to kill the citizens who are not giving them up willingly.

Hey Murray, How's your heartbeat? Coming down yet? Damn that was an exiting game.
-
Why on earth would that disqualify you from working at a dropzone?

I think it's called an odometer.

I have a feeling the Canada-US game was just a warm up for the final.

Should the taliban negotiate with the US of A?
Andrewwhyte replied to shropshire's topic in Speakers Corner
Hudna is an acceptable tactic until the Taliban can destroy the west. -
Sadly I would have taken advantage of many can't miss investment opportunities that have since missed.

If the drogue bridle was clear like a normal tandem skydive, even if the kill line was cut or broken with some of the sheath still intact, it wouldn't go anywhere nor would it collapse. When the drogue release is pulled, then it would leave. The main pin would be pulled leaving the remaining kill line and an open container. You're not going to be able to cut the sheath anyway. Right.
-
Yep, the cure for drug addiction will make people feel like they are dead inside, and they will stop taking it. That is often the problem with schizophrenia drugs. In our case the drugs for our substance abuse will make us not want to skydive, and we will stop taking it.

Has anyone ever hit a bird?
Andrewwhyte replied to Tuna-Salad's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
You make noise in freefall. The birds get out of the way. -
Not a goode idea! The tandem pair is falling at a reduced terminal 120-130 or so...If you manage to cut the drogue which would not be very easy I might add, once you get to the kill line the drougue will collapse increasing the pairs speed to tandem terminal.....so before you get through the drogue it will collapse, now they are doing 180 or so with a deflated drogue whipping around becasue it is cut in half.....not a good reserve deployment picture... Much better odds of the reserve deploying past the INFLATED drougue...at a lower speed. I think you are mistaken. On a Strong system a cut kill line will not kill the drogue; on a Vector style system once the kill line is cut the drogue leaves.

No TE is obligated to take any candidate. The three year rule is an absolute minimum that the TE can interpret as they will. If they decide to tell someone that they want more time in since the candidate became a 'regular' jumper I doubt they will get any flak from either the factory or USPA. Sure the candidate will bellow with outrage, but they will either still be there in another year or so, or they were a waste of time anyway. I don't have a problem with the TE having a little discretion to increase certain minimums.

That is one of the reasons it is not used in the Seattle area. The salt would be a detriment to the survival of the young salmon in the gravel beds in local streams. Nearly every freshwater stream in Western Washington has a salmon run. You can watch the runs going thru the urban streams in several places every fall to lay their eggs. Many people here realized the importance of saving salmon habitat, it makes economic and environmental as well as traditional sense. Is not all of upcountry Washington in Salmon country as well? I mean all that snow in the passes ends up in the western Wa. watersheds or in the Columbia; so will the salt.

The same situation is here in Canada with Roger's network having a monopoly on Iphones. I think Apple has mad a serious strategic error. Sorry to hijack your thread.

And the US ELECTED Bush TWICE! I guess any and all violence against American citizens and assets is justified by that logic.

The homicide rate also fell last year for the general population. I don't think the wearing of armour by cops was a significant factor.
