Noise levels during freefall are very short in duration (30-60 sec); I wear regular foam ear plugs on the ride up and take them out just before exit.

Work in Canada- anyone done it? info please

When I worked at Pitt Meadows (Vancouver market) I got about 250 as the number two. I think Rigerrob's best year would be around 400. The DZOs son at Abbotsford told me he did 800 last year, but I don't think the employees get that many. In the Toronto market the Otter DZ doesn't fly every day and they have a big pool so I don't think they are getting more than about 300. The KA dz maybe the same or a bit more. I really don't have a clue about the Montreal DZs or Quebec City dzs. -

Two on the first day and three after that. -
Why would you call during the game? That doesn't make any sense; at least wait until the intermission. Duh.

Well, a few years ago he fixed a US election and made a retard president; that's kept him entertained for a while.

As far as I can tell there are exactly three non-DZOs who earn their living in the industry in Canada exclusively (or almost exclusively). Two of them are master riggers and I am the third; I am either emmigrating to New Zealand next month or leaving the industry. In short I am going to starve to death. The industry can pay well over a seven month season, but often does not; there are exactly five DZs with turbines. Pay is similar to US ($30-50/tandem, $5-7/pack job, $10-20/tandem rig, $50-70/reserve pack). But don't let me stop you. Good luck -
Well try this on for size. Vancouver does not have a racially exclusive neighbourhood in it. Yep, no ghettos. The down town core is mainly the haunt of the young middle class and you can take a city bus to the ski hill.

I don't. I have a Z1, but I have always worried that it will impede communication too much. The way I wear mine my mouth is covered by the face guard. I have never been hit (hard) by the student's head on a tandem (although one managed to punch me in the face on opening yesterday ). That would be the only reason I can think of for needing one.

The last time the Canadian dollar was worth more than the US was during the seventies when the US was mired in an expensive war they could not figure out how to pay for or get out of, and the price of oil was very high (sound familiar?). The result of that was a decade of economic malaise and inflation followed by the worst recession since the thirties.
-
Well when the US dollar falls, the price of oil (I'm sure you've noticed) and other imports rises. Basically all you Americans are taking a pay cut when the dollar sinks. When consumption in the US falls to the point that the population stops pissing their money away on luxuries they cannot afford like six and eight cylinder cars and (gasp) air conditioning, and of course wars, then the dollar might start rebounding.

Wanna buy some oil? Blue eyed sheikhs are us.

They come in metric too. BTW UBC is one of the most beautiful campuses in the world. You'll love it there if you can afford those expensive Canadian dollars.

The Federal Reserve Board controls the supply of money; they do this by lending it to institutions and the government. The money doesn't exist until the fed lends it out so they are in effect printing money. They do this on a constant basis in order to balance the demand for money. If they create less money compared to what the big institutions want to borrow this week then the price (interest rate) will rise. If they create more then the interest rate will fall. In order to stave of a general recession due to the sub-prime lending crises the Fed decided to lower the interest rate (by printing more money) by 1/2 a percentage point. This was more than the market was anticipating so many institutional lenders are selling American securities and buying other ones (European, Canadian, Japanese etc.) This means there are more people trying to sell US dollars than buy them so the price falls.

Uhm,..you do know that he was taking the piss out of Australians and not Americans in that clip,.. don't you?

There are people training both, but the two-hands per handle does seem to be much more common. Blues, Dave Actually the poll indicated about 50-50.

That's a great idea; We'll send them all to Australia. -
In 1995 when we were building General Motors Place in Vancouver the Audio contract stated in the preamble that all measurements were to be in metric. Various times later in the same document were distances referred to in feet. That is probably typical. Architecture is mostly in metres, engineering is mixed and the construction happens in feet. The adage in the industry is 'buy in metres and sell in feet' (and put the extra three inches in your pocket). Most Canadians switch back and forth effortlessly; if you cannot you would be best advised to use strictly metric as you will have to some of the time (on all government work, for example).

The point is maybe he wants to show the peeps back home that he is not a war monger. Maybe that is the straw that we hang onto; that little bit of rationality that saves us all. During he cold war we thought they were nuts and they were sure we were (well Reagan anyway) nuts: but it turned out that none of us were nuts and we didn't blow each other up. I don't like this guy and am not convinced that he isn't nuts; but we have to give peace every chance it can get; hundreds of thousands or millions, or tens of millions of lives are at stake. -

I think you are thinking of Vector/sigma & Icarus tandem canopies; the only strong canopy to be normally outfitted with flare toggles were the Master 525s. -

I am sure there will be some who condemn it because some of the kids will be flaming losers. There are those who don't want anything to do with children learning hard lessons. Other than that, meh another reality show; whatever.
