The danger in this is that there would now be an incentive for some groups to deny other groups the qualifying criteria. You may see high school graduation rates amongst minority groups fall in certain districts. Wasn't the literacy criterion used to prevent blacks from voting in the south for quite a while?

Funny you would say that in this thread; -Robert A. Heinlein

Tandem progression - popular/successful?
Andrewwhyte replied to cpoxon's topic in Safety and Training
I have only taught one student through Tandem Progression. I was working in Mexico, landing on a busy beach. I thought it was brilliant. We were able to go through all the free-fall learning as per AFF but with canopy control lessons that were far superior to regular AFF or RAPS style program could ever provide. I particularly remember hitting a wind sheer at 1000' or so and asking the student how the new wind direction affected our planned pattern. This training paid off big time when his radio malfunctioned on his first jump on solo gear; He flew a nice pattern, moved down the beach a bit to where he had more room and landed nicely (it really was tight for a student). I have not used the method since because of manpower; TAFF really does take a lot of one of your more usefull instructors' time. For the committee to refuse this program they should be prepared to give their reasons. I cannot see a safety concern that would preclude the program, nor can I find an issue of quality of instruction. Any other issue I can think of would come under business efficiency or competitive advantage; neither of these IMHO should be within the mandate of any BPA committee. -

You're kidding right? RIGHT? It had Chuck freakin' Yeager in it; it is a cinematic classic! -
I wish the 'skins would get better so it would be more satisfying when the COWBOYS kick their asses.

If you are looking foreward to watching the 'skins you still know nothing about football.

I stayed there one night; I think it was $125.00. A double bed, two singles, and a double hide-a-bed. It was very nice but, as Remy said, a bit expensive unless it is used as a team room.

Actually Chuck Norris has that record. He has all the records.

If they do it full time tip 'em cash, if they are part timers tip 'em in kind.

The area of jurisdiction will be trying in a lot of cases. If for example I post that Amazon is a poor skydiver who should not be allowed on big ways because she is a drug addict, I have said something that is both malicious and untrue. The problem is does she file the case in Washington where, arguably, the most damage is done because she lives there, in Alberta because that is where I wrote what I did, or in British Columbia because that is where the DZ.com server is located?

There was a 5.5 aftershock about half an hour ago.

I would rate it an above average bunkhouse with a semblance of privacy in each bunk and a locker. For two days I would say it is a huge savings if you can avoid the car rental or like to have a few at the Bent Prop.

What is this "drive" you speak of?

Redemption for your sins is only available through Christ, and this requires the intercession of the church; this was the whole point of Christ establishing he church, according to Catholic dogma. If I am not mistaken this was one of the good friar's theses. The pope at the time of ML excommunicated him; he was denied the intercession of the heirs of Peter and thus, the sacrament of last rites. Sorry, Eternal Agony for Marty. -
Which EP Method is taught at your DZ?
Andrewwhyte replied to Thanatos340's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
What I am getting from this thread is that the "two hands per handle" method is much more prevalent than I thought in US but basically non-existent anywhere else. -
There is a cost for everything.
Andrewwhyte replied to diablopilot's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
There is a junior guy at our DZ. Sometimes I help him out with stuff. He is a mechanic. This week we traded cars so he could fix mine. I sure hope he doesn't want MONEY for the service. I mean, were all brothers right? -
Sue the Airline! That should stop the weather diversion!

Huh? Wasn't he excommunicated? He's roasting in hell as we speak for his heresy. -
Sue the Airline! That should stop the weather diversion!
Andrewwhyte replied to Rookie120's topic in Speakers Corner
Well, the American citizens do anyway. The inconvenience was due to the weather and the US customs and immigration department not having a suitable contingency plan for this type of event. Call your congressman if you like, but stop blaming the airline for government regs.
