  1. These people have helped some of my friends: http://womeninaviation.com/
  2. Hell no. Each mine will have a runway for the summer and for moving personnel in and out.
  3. I want you to come to this thread on Sunday and answer that question if you can.
  4. Sure they do, but most of the cargo goes during winter. Air freight is mostly limited to time sensitive stuff like produce, dairy, personnel and equipment that is needed due to unforeseen events.
  5. Nope. Sorry, but the rules around here are pretty clear; if you screw up and die we will dissect your actions, statements and attitudes without mercy. Unfortunately Ted left a lot to dissect. Basically he became the poster boy for arrogance being a killer. It doesn't mean we didn't like him, it doesn't mean we don't miss him; it just means we are willing to use him as a bad example.
  6. I remember working on an ice island in the Arctic a while back. I was living on a barge some ways away. In the morning I would go outside and do busy work until it warmed up above -42C so the helicopter would be able to start.
  7. They don't. That's an American thing.
  8. Sadly that doesn't narrow it down too much.
  9. Of course the best strategy is to teach them Bigun's way and at the end of the lesson mention that they will have a radio back up "seeing as how it's your first time." I have been teaching canopy control without mentioning the radio for 12 years.
  10. A license is issued by an authority such as the government; CSPA is a club with no force of law
  11. If there is nothing wrong with one why do you not have one in your current rig? They are cheaper after all. I think the main thing "wrong" with a round reserve is the landings hurt more.
  12. When you get banned. Not all of us get our "one warning," (unlike Kallend who seems to get two a week).
  13. This is just the sort of heresy that has Martin Luther burning in hell now and forever.
  14. This is not new. A similar demand has held things up before under GWB and Clinton. Japan and South Korea are, understandably, not enthused to be left on the sidelines during discussions that the lives of their citizens may depend. I don't think the US want to give Jong Il the prestige of one on one "summits" like the Soviets and Chinese got during the cold war.
  15. If they resent him they are fools; If he even comes close to becoming the "Wayne Gretzky of American soccer" as hoped,he will fatten their wallets considerably.
  16. The trick is not to guess how many tandems you will do in a month, but how many you will do in a year. Skydiving is seasonal in virtually every market. There are very few places where you will get 1000 tandems per year. If you get $35.00 per jump that is something less than $33 000.00/annum? Is that enough? What if you only get 500 jumps per year, is that enough?
  17. I kinda like the Tink's: Skydivers don't knock on Death's door. They ring the bell and runaway... It really pisses him off. -The World Famous Tink. (I never heard of you either!!)
  18. Snot nosed punk deserved it. (I'll keep my opinion of the POTUS interfering to myself and keep it from SC). Not nearly enough boobies flashed in Singapore.
  19. I don't have sin problem; that's the joy of being a heathen. Is that kind of like saying "I'm not an alcoholic as long as I don't go to meetings?" No, it's like saying that offending a non-existent god is no more troubling than offending the easter bunny.
  20. I don't have sin problem; that's the joy of being a heathen.
  21. You'd let a dude give you a foot rub? FAG.
  22. If you don't mind the occassional caning... Shanghai is in China. I don't think they cane folks much there; they just send you to the organ bank. Were you thinking of Singapore?
