  1. I think the price of oil is still rising against most currencies. The $CAD is up about 75% over the last few years and oil in $CAD terms is still up. Your point is still valid that oil is not up anywhere nearly as much for most people as it is for Americans. I think it's fair to say your debt and deficit situation (governmental and personal) are to blame. You simply cannot afford those wars you are fighting. Wars are bad. Tell your leaders.
  2. You think you got terrorism problems now. What would American society be like if the bad guys weren't brown and could imitate your accent?
  3. Did you just call me an American? PA! PAAAA! you're almost one.. You goddam krauts don't know shit.
  4. ask not for whom the bell curves... it curves for thee.

    Gout

I have gout; so far just in my toes but the attacks have been increasing in intensity. I have not done a lot of research on the subject so thanks for the advice. Eating the good foods is a lot easier than not eating the bad ones, especially the bit about alcohol and mushrooms.
  9. The law still matters in a civil case. If the judge allowed/disallowed testimony in error or failed to properly instruct the jury as to the pertinent law the judgment can be overturned.
  10. They COULD be. But, think of the "glass plaintiff." It's the legal theory of a plaintiff being particularly susceptible to some type of injury. Funerals? Yeah. Abortions? Probably. Workign as a scab? Nope. They COULD be??? If not why would they yell such a thing? Scab is a word that has been cultivated to evoke a negative emotional response much like RAT is among criminals and (curiously) police officers. I think the 'glass plaintiff' argument falls to the obvious intent of the defendant. It seems to me that you are getting very normative in your interpretation of an inviolable right.
  11. What I really hate is fucking 2000 jump wonders who think they invented the goddam sport. You hope some of them hang around long enough to get some humility, but you know that's probably not going to happen. It's about as likely as them shutting their pie hole once in a while and listen to those of us that have.
  12. Is protesting at an abortion clinic not equally so? What about yelling "SCAB!" at a replacement worker during a labour dispute? Are the union types not specifically trying to cause emotional distress?
  13. Assuming this is upheld upon appeal, what are the ramifications for anti-abortion protestors? Anti-Republican/anti-Democrat protests? Defending freedom of speech for people you agree with is without merit
  14. I tend to look at the student's alti rather than my own.
  15. I buy gas at a station where the jockey washes my windshield and checks my oil.
  16. As a Canadian born member of a religious minority (atheist) I would take offense at the PM touting Christian values as Canadian values. Oh wait the current one does that.
  17. I recently bought a VISO. About five jumps later I looked at it in freefall and had a little trouble seeing the display. That's when it occurred to me that I hadn't looked at it once on the previous jumps.
  18. I agree. "The victim was known to police" seems to be a very common refrain when talking about murder.
  19. I've got a brand new pair of roller skates... you've got a brand new key... I think we should get together... and try them out to see...
  20. When I was a kid we had a phone you had to crank the handle to get the operator to pick up (plug you in actually) and you told her which line you wanted to connect with.
  21. HAHAHA! That's just crazy Bill. You and I both know the earth is only 6000 years old. If you can't come up with any more recent examples than that you will have to admit that this whole line of argument is faulty.
  22. What would you call this corporation? A Soviet? The most likely transition between your current government and a libertarian one would be for all the highways to be sold to a corporation for one dollar. That corporation would be owned by Dick Cheney.
