  1. Countries that fit that description (eye-for-an-eye/ lower crime rate than US) do exist. As a control for your implied hypothesis (causality) why don't you see if you can think of some countries that fit the null hypothesis (non-eye-for-an-eye/ lower crime rate than US). Here, I'll get you started: Canada, UK, France, Belgium, Netherlands,... See which list is longer.
  2. Sell the canopy, she wont let you skydive any more anyway.
  3. This is true. There are those on here however, who are advocating pure solitary for these people; no books, no letters, nothing. At this point I think they are venturing into the vindictive rather than prophylactic.
  4. "Shake Hands with the Devil"- Romeo Dallaire Not a happy book at all, but it is a story we all should bear witness to. "The Satanic Verses"- Salmon Rushdie. No that the furor has died down from the Fatwa you can enjoy it for its own merit.
  5. Is punishment the means or the end? If it is means, then what are the ends and how in this case does it promote them?
  6. Carbs are good before your work out for energy, but why do you need them in any quantity afterwards? Protein builds muscle, not carbs. BTW Why do you wait to eat the whey?
  7. A can of tuna (they have those half sized cans that have a bunch of flavours like peanut satay or lemon pepper) and a four oz cup of real juice right in the locker room before your sauna is what I like.
  8. Eating before you work out should help you lose weight. You should eat a smaller than usual dinner at least 1 hour before your work out and have an high protein, low carb snack right after if you are building mass. At that time of day you don't need carbs for activity, you just need a little bit to help you digest the protein. A bit of broccoli or a small OJ is good.
  9. Ahh, an English lesson from a German. I am humbled.
  10. And 2 many typos Man, after reading the crap you're spreading around, I'm quite sure you must be an alien. Or a comedian. Or a relict of American Civil War .... relic I know English isn't your first language, but if you want to be the spelling police you had better get it right.
  11. I really don't know the answers. Personally I have never heard of a Hannibal Lector type of criminally insane escape. I have heard of escapes from Max; Allen Legere in New Brunswick about ten years ago comes to mind. As to where the line between criminal and criminally insane lies, it truly is something I feel is technical enough that my opinion as a voter and taxpayer is irrelevant. I am happy to leave it up to the medical and judicial communities to work out between them.
  12. I'm a bit confused as to why he isn't going back to the criminally insane house. It seems from his earlier "not criminally responsible" verdict that he should stay there, but have a "no excursions ever" tag on his chart. It looks like he had a really bad lawyer to plead guilty when he clearly had a good shot at another insane defense.
  13. Really tough to find fuel outside the big cities in the US.
  14. I don't know of any other countries that have banned CP via the constitution/courts. It is a legislative decision. If we can do it so can you.
  15. I got him too; I've never heard of him. I guess that's not good.
  16. Socrates was not innocent; he was guilty as charged.
  17. And when he does it successfully you will get a, "Shows what you know you nattering nabob of negativity."
  18. Isn't that the very definition of the UN ambassador? It is at least for those who support the UN and its mandate, like the democrats. Wow! There is a law that excludes American citizens from Cabinet. Is that constitutional?
  19. It is nice to see y'all agreeing with your Cubano neighbours once on a while.
  20. Doh! You are right. You know I could see Tom Hanks face as I typed Murray's name.
  21. This is bullshit! Every time I look at the thread list that stupid smiley face is staring at me. [Bill Murray voice] There's no smiley faces in Speakers Corner.[/Bill Murray voice] Edited to add:
