  1. That is not quite accurate. USPA insurance covers US residents worldwide, and all others within the US only, but (here's the kicker) the legal action must be filed in the US. CSPA covers Canadian residents worldwide with no such proviso; the small number of Canadian jumpers that might jump in UK means that there is no push to change anything. It would be interesting to examine the Aus, S.A. and NZ to see what their insurance agreements actually say. One thing about Canada. We happily accept BPA from the British, or USPA from the Yanks, but will not accept USPA from a Brit.
  2. From what I have seen most votes in the US Congress have GOP and DEM votes on both sides of the issue; Obviously some issues are loyalty calls to the party, but the votes of individual members must be courted on most bills. If the majority party doesn't have the votes to get something passed, they horse trade with whoever appears to be swayable regardless of party affiliation. In UK or Canada this simply does not go on. If the government loses a vote of any consequence the government falls and there is an election. A government member who votes against the government faces serious sanctions such as exclusion from committees or parliamentary secretary positions. This seriously affects their paycheques. They could face expulsion from the caucus - meaning they will have to run as an independent next time. The net result of this means that when there is a majority government (most of the time) the opposition members are reduced to complaining to the press about how (heartless/foolish/short sighted etc.) the government is being with this particular piece of legislation. A minority party representative or senator is much more powerful than an opposition parliamentarian. The second way is through the State Houses. Bill Clinton was not unaccustomed to power when he became the president even though the GOP had been in the Whitehouse for the previous twelve years. If Hillary or Obama become president next year they will be able to call on democratic resources from DEM State Houses that are in power or recently were. Because UK was a unitary government when Blair took power (it has evolved into something different since) he had no Labour Party colleagues in similar position.
  3. If you can get a flight into Sacramento it is much closer.
  4. Yep, they haven't lost on the road since they played,....... THE COWBOYS
  5. OK serious answer now. You really don't want to fuck with the University if you are an academic or a grad student. I would leave the money alone for 1 month. If it is still there I would remove it and put it in a 30 day term deposit (better interest). Renew the deposit every 30 days. If they come looking for it tell them you will give it back on 30. They may get snarky about that but in the end they will shrug their shoulders and take the money when they get it; they are bureaucrats after all. In the mean time you get the interest. The odds are sooner or later you will be asked for the money, but you never know.
  6. This is money from an ex employer? I think you should remove the money from the account. If they come looking for it tell them that it was in line with the severance you were expecting.
  7. I am not quite sure why these people didn't remain in the house after proceedings began. If I was in that situation I think I would stop making all payments but would live there rent free for as long as I could.
  8. In 1960 Jack Kemp Cook voted against granting the Dallas Cowboys an NFL franchise. It would be useless for his descendants to apologize. Never to forgive; Never to forget!
  9. I am still waiting for those fucking Campbells to apologize for all their treachery. Mostly they should apologize for being fucking Campbells!
  10. You are certainly not alone in this . I have run into a lot of jumpers over the years who's goals within the sport have changed, causing them to regret that they stopped logging. Usually their regret is centred around wanting ratings so they can earn money so they are really not interested in just repeating the jumps. In your case you have around 300 jumps spread out over 12 years. I think the main thing you need to do is get more current. If you want to improve your skills and gain more licenses and perhaps some ratings, then I would just write off those jumps for licensing purposes. If I was you I would add 150 or so to my numbers (it's your log after all) but never apply for anything until your signed jump numbers are sufficient for the license or rating. As for not wanting to bother the gods to sign your book, I'm sure you have been around the sport long enough by now to recognize that if someone really doesn't want to take the time for something like that, well, you just don't need someone to jump with that badly do you?
  11. Well at least he can cheer for your Seahawks after the COWBOYS kick the midgits' asses for the third time this season next week.
  12. I don't think there is a breaker out there that would protect someone that stupid, nor should there be. Gotta let Darwin nip these things in the bud.
  13. 25k well spent when you have the blue screen of death eh?
  14. Why do you live in Tofield? If you are going to live in a small town do what everyone else does- drink.

    Paramotors

I think Jo-Jo were big in that market before they started manufacturing the HOP. You might try them.
  16. The different grades have known cost differentials for converting to refined products. Generally the higher the price for the raw product, the closer the different grades will be proportionally because refining costs do not move in tandem with the raw price. Alberta tar sands bitumen -probably the lowest quality oil product on the market- generally trades at about 40-60% the price of LSC.
  17. Answer #1: The jets are no more because the government of Manitoba believes that public money should be used to build rinks for kids to play on, not millionaires working for billionaires. Those bastards in Phoenix on the other hand subsidized the fuck out of the new rink and stole our team with all the jobs that go with it. This is in direct violation of the free trade agreement- fuckers. Answer #2: Winnipeg is a city of about 650 000 people with a very undynamic corporate base. When the NHL fiscal framework rose to the level it is at today Winnipeg simply couldn't continue to support the team. Essentially the NHL outgrew the city (same thing for Quebec City).
  18. Tony Blair's first term was also the party's first term in a long time. It wasn't just him that needed to be accustomed to power. The US system is a bit different as the dems have still wielded power over the last 8 years; in the Congress due to the relative lack of party discipline, and at various state houses.
  19. Edmonton is a boom town. It is full of high paying jobs for the working man. The violent crime rate is quite high and the level of gang activity is going through the roof. Mainly the residents are a bit shell shocked by the apparent increase that comes with being a bigger city.

  21. Yep Harley Davidson doesn't make 'sleds,' Arctic Cat and Bombardier do.
  22. Both Winnipeg and Moose Jaw have gangs. Moose Jaw is pretty small but most of the Canadian prairie drug trade is dominated by very violent Native gangs as well as the Hell's Angels. Winnipeg's downtown is perhaps the least safe downtown district in Canada.
