Since there were two maintenance related jumpship crashes last year in US we know they are out there. I don't know whether the signs were there for the average jumper to see or not. I have been around the sport quite a while and probably know more about aircraft maintenance than most non pilot jumpers. That said if I were to peruse the maintenance logs of a 182 I would be unlikely to catch anything but the grossest of violations without a several hour study. The only way for most jumpers to make an informed judgement on an aircraft is to get in it several times. If it is a POS you will notice over time. The real point about a USPA inspection program is that the inspectors would, I suspect, legally be on the hook to report any wrongdoing to the FAA. If they didn't and the plane went in you know the lawsuit would include both USPA and the inspector. Criminal charges may also be in order.

Jumpship Discussion - Gippsland GA-8 Airvan
Andrewwhyte replied to Unstable's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
When was the last Skyvan jumpship crash? -
Never happened to me before. It might be a sugar crash headache; try eating some complex carbs, and a multi-vitamin.
-
Ok. That has to be at least a $27.50 word, maybe even $35.00. Back to the violence channel.

See, its not even Super Tuesday and he's getting things done.

It does seem a strange thing to say. I do think though that more than 13% of dems are black, and an even higher percentage will be dem primary voters.

Because it's against the LAW! What part of ILLEGAL don't you understand. I mean, really, we're talking about the LAW! Other than that I got nothin'.

So buy a trailer and get a job flying jumpers. Live on the DZ and when you are not in the air PACK. Either you want it or you don't.

Here's an idea. Pay it all, then go visit your kids. They will like that.

Why does every cold I have turn into a deep chest cough?

'cause you smoke too much Ganj. Just a guess. -
Nope. Not gonna dig them up either. Since most electricity in US is produced by burning things it is impossible to use it to make things warm more efficiently than just lighting the fire in the place you want to be warm.
-
i guess that's true if you have electric heat, but electric heat is very inefficient compared to other methods.

I just put the 100w replacement ones where I used to have a 60w incandescent.

Evolution is a random walk. It does not eliminate anti survival behavior, it merely keeps it in check.

I would argue that in the long run evolutionary fitness and morality are interchangeable. -
Fuel is a cost; it comes out of revenues, what is left over is profit.

Gold was grossly overpriced in 1980. That is why the price subsequently fell and did not return to that level for more than twenty five years.
-
Maybe most people compare prices to wages rather than other prices.

What flavour? ALBATROSS

The two maintenance related 182 crashes in US last year probably don't help that image to be sure.

Let's look at what RP Says he wants to do (as opposed to what other people say he wants to do). From what I have seen watching a couple of interviews, he wants to reduce the total size of the federal government by about 30%, return to the gold standard, withdraw from the UN and all its subsidiary organizations, withdraw from all multi-lateral as well as any omnibus bi-lateral trade treaties, and cease all non-strictly defensive military actions. What would he have the power to actually do as POTUS? Given his voting record over the years he would be unlikely to sign any budget sent to him by congress; can they overrule him on the budget? Hey, it might force a little bi-partisanship in the house. He would never get the support in Congress needed to abolish the IRS. Returning to the gold standard would require legislation- not gonna happen. Withdrawing from the UN would also require legislation, but if he doesn't appoint an ambassador, I don't believe Congress can do a damn thing about it. Are trade negotiators and WTO reps presidential prerogatives or House committee appointments? Regardless, the result would be a freezing of the US's trade positions where they sit today; Congress would not let him abrogate treaties, he would not bring forward any proposals under any existing fast track authority. His main power would be as CinC. Yes he could order all the troops out of South Korea, Japan, Europe, GITMO. I am not sure whether he could order them all out of Iraq and Afghanistan; if I am not mistaken Congress declared war in both of those theatres. Do they have to end the war? Even if they do is troop strength the prerogative of the CinC? If he made these military moves the world would be a very unstable place while Russia, China, India, Iran, etc. rushed in to fill the void. I suspect he would be assassinated before it could happen.

Jumpship time is good because it is Pilot in Command. It usually is done within the framework of a corporate structure; this tends to indicate that there is pressure for efficiency as well as experienced oversight. It depends on where, but often the work includes flying in a variety of control environments not generally encountered during flying club rental flights. What it lacks is cross-country and poor weather experience and decision making.

That is precisely why we went to Afghanistan and stayed out of Iraq.

Here in Canada we get at least one reminder a week these days.

I'll look but this is Canada in winter. They don't bring in a lot of weird stuff that doesn't sell quickly. These greens you speak of are not a popular item here. We get beet greens around here, as well as Swiss chard; are they like those?
