  1. yeah, all those 4way people on the 300 way made their first swoop.... I guess they all owe beer.
  2. and those who refuse to believe that there are better, more efficient ways to fly miss the point also. maybe you do need to pop up and back, if you're coming inhot on a formation, but if you are level and need to go to the next point (I know, there isn't a next point in 10 way), you may find yourself off level -- do you really want to do that? why make two moves (up and back, then down), when 1 is sufficient (straight or translating back).

everything about them is fake, but they are hot in the clothing they wear (or not)!!!
  5. I was thinking more along the lines of a harley....
  6. really, especially since the Jeep obviously lost the contest, would be nice to know what kicked it's butt....
  7. Sounds like my landing only because it had just rained the grass was wet and I did a 1 knee slide for about 15 feet. those can be fun too!
  8. I guess its the double word(s) and blantant misspelling that got me (not that I spell any better...)
  9. There's an oxymoron if I ever heard one! yeah, well I'm not so good at it either, but did you read it?
  10. Then please explain the proper flair to me. I have only 1 jump with this canopy so please teach my how to do it right. I think it's been explained above somewhere, but basically, you apply enough toggle to stop vertical descent.... now you are moving horizontally across the ground. keep applying toggle to keep you there. when you're going slow enough, finish the flare out and if you do it right one maybe two steps is all that's necessary. the trick is to keep flying your canopy and not touch down to early. I've watched a lot of pilots stop their flair halfway, and run like a sprinter at the end. there is no need for that if you do it correctly.
  11. a cessna DZ you can tell people what you are going to do, if you are at a larger DZ, you could either get a) hurt b) yelled at C) grounded d) all of the above. you need to be aware of your surroundings, you need to be aware of others around you. You need to understand local customs for landing and what that entails. doing a downwinder in front of me if I'm coming in for a landing following established landing pattern in the main landing area will not make me a happy person.
  12. Just curious on this one. Have you actually flown a PD reserve so you know how it differs from a Tempo? I know you can demo them and was just wondering if you had done that. I jump a PD loaded at about 1.5, they land like a dream, soft no issues, I have jumped other reserves loaded a lot less that thumped me in. My money is on PD any day.... this particular Mal (good job not wasting any time Kevin), brings to mind another thread about packing the main and those who wondered why they had to do it per the manual. The rig looks like a Mirage, it needs to be packed a certain way. If a packer or yourself doesn't know, find out, or have someone else pack it!
  13. interesting story, but it butchers the english language.... it is written terribly
  14. It is very bad form to do down winders with multiple planes/passes/people in the air. good way to get seriously hurt.
  15. If you can't make it into the landing pattern from whence you came, land off where it is much safer for all involved please.
  16. I posted this before, but the veiw out from work... (which is also the same veiw almost from the back of my house if I cut a few pine trees down)
  17. ah, you missed the skysurfing on a commercial during the superbowl, too.... points to people who know who it was.
  18. so when you are turning points do you really want to go up and back (up being the key word there)? it pus you off level -- there are some others that teach other methods that keep you on level at the same time.
  19. it is, almost 5% -- that's a large difference when you are getting in the smaller sizes.
  20. snowmobiles will do over 100, it's fun! another favorite past time of the ice bound north is motorcycle racing on frozen lakes, the tires have screws inserted in them for grip. Those guys are slightly off their rocker.
  21. when are you going? I'm going to meet my brother there last weekend in February.... I think I'll fly into Reno. You really can't go wrong at any resort around the lake Heavenly, Kirkwood, etc. THey have gotten absolutely dumped on this year so far.
  22. thanks!! I really wasn't sure about the split personality thing though...
  23. Sweet, I'll take you up on that! who knows maybe I'll get down there to the tunnel in teh next few months.... what colors did you get?
  24. Oh, no fair, you had insider information! Off to jail with Martha Stewart for you! Chuckie is retiring from the army, and Katie's going off to Kuwait. So, I'm going for the celebrations!
  25. North Carolina, in specific Raeford... watch out folks, mamma in the house...
