I've had the same gear bag since I graduated student status.... the thing fits perfectly in an overhead (short side showing, too, takes up NO room). THe best part now, is that before it only held a rig and maybe a tee shirt. I can get both my rigs in it now. Terry Pike at Aerotech makes a nice gear bag, and you can get different sizes, and custom if you so desire. Look for his ads in Skydiving mag. (I've got his number at home, PM me if you want it, but I think he has a web site also)

Alrighty then, 95 bucks will get you converted...

They are using some sort of bungy set up *I think*. Majik is also jumping them and I talked to Doug for a while about them, but could never catch the container open on the floor when I was thinking about it to take a look. on another note, I know some folks that have sewn Zpo fabric inside the D-bag to help get the canopy in easier (slippery).

20 to 25 pounds is not unrealistic for modern gear, both my rigs were in a gear bag with some other crap in there, and they came in under 50 pounds on an airport check in scale.

I dont' think you would need a new PC, you would have to add an extension to where the hackey currently connects. Keep in mind I have never done this and could be completely wrong.

What are the Dangers of underloading a HP Canopy?
weid14 replied to Viking's topic in Swooping and Canopy Control
I guess in it's how you define it, I would still consider it a student progression at that jump level, though. That's ok, you don't need to call, I was just trying to show that lightly loaded HP canopies have been jumped with some success in the past. -
squeezeit girdle nose.... hahahhaah that's to funny

Disclaimer... Don't do this If the person can hold on during opening shock, Use any size parachute you want. My stiletto 97 has been used a couple times. and I've seen it done many times on 135's Tim I know when X-braces came out in force, a Mr. BIll was done to load them really heavily and see the response. I think there was even datalogging, but I can't remember the details. I do know it was like a 4.5 loading.

What are the Dangers of underloading a HP Canopy?

I believe a few years ago there were more stilletos in use, then they went to safires for a bit, then sabre2, but I could be wrong. Even so, part of the progression is putting students on lightly loaded elips of some sort. -
aacccckkkkk Times Square is so tourist!!! that's not necissarily a bad thing, but if you really want to check out manhatten, head to tribecca, soho or the village, they are all close to each other, and not far from NYU, either. Many newer art galleries and eateries on every block (as is the fashion in THE city)

Oh, there's a story behind that one. It has absolutely NOTHING to do with me. - Jim yeah right, and Stacy never swooped the cow either...

if you roll to much, you can pull lines from the back around the front and create yourself a potential line over....

why did they ever put the "beer tape" on top of the hanger, I found that one humorous....

Do you wear earplugs during the climb?
weid14 replied to dbattman's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
drug stores have them, and they are rated in noise reduction levels. it's on the box typically. do not buy the wax ones, they can get stuck in your ear canal. and, of course, there is a right and wrong way to put them in. The ones they supply at the wind tunnel are middle of the road as far as plugs go. -
See, I'm way too innocent for my own good! (I think I spelled the cartoon character squirrels...HA HA HA!) So are you volunteering weid? I think I still have that bow tie around somewhere.... would it be worth my while?

that is the BEST stuff I have found to date (hot chillies on chicks aren't bad either). I've tried many, but the ones from EMS totally rock. Cotton for layering = bad idea. holds water, which acts as a heat conductor, which makes it worse later. Wool does keep it's thermal properties when wet, but it itches like a bugger.

well, I"m sure you can figure something out, you DO live by Daytona! by the way it's spelled Chippendales

Do you wear earplugs during the climb?
weid14 replied to dbattman's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Here's how it is.... your inner ear has a bunch of tiny little hairs that change the sound waves into mechanical energy which triggers the nerves, and all that. what happens when these little hairs get to much amplitude in the sound (i.e. loudness), they fatigue and break off, enough of them do it, and you lose that pitch range in your hearing. 80 Db is the threshold for industry (well, it's around there anyway). Basically if you have to shout to be heard, it is over the threshold and you are doing damage to your ears. damage to your ears is not reversable (the little hairs don't grow back). It is wise to wear a good earplug. -
That is an excellent commercial, but come on now, they wouldn't wear that type of underwear under those skirts!
-
then that makes every other rig on the market in suspect also. The new(er) Mirage hardware is excellent, better than on other rigs I have seen (I can't comment on the older designs as I have not looked at them closely). Mil specification is exactly that, anyone can purchase to a MILitary specification, it is a design spec for that particular piece of hardware. If you haven't seen it, only *heard* about it, I suggest you state it as such.

They are correct, all 4way teams should bow to the Inside Center and buy him or her donuts in the morning and a nice lunch!!

what's that spanking every nice butt that goes by?

John, no one ever said there was a "right" way and a "wrong" way. there is the best way for a given situation. It may interest you to also read Kate's account of her tunnel camp and what she learned. It was in Skydiving magazine.

hmmmmm, that's cool. Looks like they have some sort of Cross Keys connection....
