  1. Well, where ever you received you education concerning Christianity, it was sadly lacking. Lacking firearms, Jesus wouldn't shoot anyone. However, he did command his followers to carry weapons. See Book of Luke and others (luk 22:34-38 iirc). This was to his apostles. His Twelve to carry his word. He expected his preachers to carry weapons, and he certainly allowed everyday ordinary Christians to defend themselves as necessary. He dd not want his followers to enforce Christianity by the sword, but he did not expect them to be helpless, either. If you believe in Christian teachings, then you believe one day we will beat swords to plowshares and spears to pruning hooks, but that would be the second coming, not now. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*
  2. There are whackos from four big faiths trying to skew the education system in the US. Christians, Jews, Muslims, and Atheists all want their point of view to run things, and all four have nutbag zealots. I've got no problem with a section on Islam as long as they do the same for other faiths. Good luck getting reps from each faith to agree what to teach about their own and the other, though. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*
  3. Folks Getting on their high horse also like to forget that everyone serving agreed to give up a large chunk of the rights they guarantee for everyone else. Fredom of speech? Nope. Freedom of assembly? Nope. Right to bear arms? Nope. And so on and so forth. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*
  4. Illinois doesn't even issue to it's own residents, they certainly don't recognize other states' licenses. They are literally the most restrictive state in the union. Only DC and Wisconsin are close in law, and a few "may issue" states are as bad in practice. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*
  5. You beat me to it. He's the single most radical leftwing poster on dz.com and he acts surprised when most folks think he's nuts. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*
  6. There is a pill (I hesitate to call it medication) that makes a person violently ill if they consume alcohol. There are day reporting centers that an offender can be force to go to every day to take the pill under supervision as a condition of probation. The problem is higher courts have ruled that courts cannot force a person, even a convict, to take medicine against their wishes. So that solition is out. Also alcohol monitoring anklets only work after the fact. They do t prevet drunk driving. They only report drinking after the fact. As for the "forced cure" to his alcoholism, there's no real way to do it if he doesn't want it to happen and there's no way to know that it will stick. Revoking their license is a joke. Most states don't have any real penalty for dwlr. Florida is a good exception. They treat habitual dwlr as a felony, and impound the car driven. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*
  7. No, and above is why. This guy is going around putting everyone else at risk. He's already hurt people and caused serious wrecks while ridiculously impaired (a felony in many places) plus he is beyond habitual dwi (a felony in many places). My bet is he's already got three felonies wracked up (which is automatic life or massive mandatory minimum sentences in some places). So his getting a life sentence I not that much outside the ordinary. Now add in that every dwi is only inches away from a murder conviction, and yeah, a life sentence is reasonable. This guy has been through assessments, has had the chance for treatments. If you want to say he has a disease, then he is no different than the criminally insane who need to be kept away from society. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*
  8. Wow. I already knew you don't know shit about law enforcement or criminal justice, but this last post is a real doozy. Do you know what statute of limitation is, or what its purpose is, or when the clock stops and starts? From your post, I have to think the answer to all of the above is a resounding "no." witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*
  9. Several points: -Props to the new DA for taking the harder road. -This is another example of why I think there should be no statute of limitations for rape and any felony involving use of deadly force (not threatened, actual use, and not requiring death, just use). -Not every person set free from prison is Edmond Dantes. Greg Taylor of NC springs to mind as guilty, but convicted based on improper testimony by an unreliable state employee, and so set free and called innocent. He's no more innocent than OJ, but they didn't convict him properly th first time and don't have a chance of doing it now, so Taylor will stay free and cost the NC taxpayers millions. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*

  11. My wife says I have very nice fingers. Anyway, in an update, atheists and others who disagree with him support him and respect him. He never said they should be hated or fired for their views. It's funny, I thought university was supposed to be about free exchange of ideas and learning to think. Anyone going to say this isn't a case of PCism run amok? http://www.foxnews.com/us/2010/07/16/students-alumni-rally-u-illinois-professor-fired-expressing-catholic-beliefs/?test=latestnews witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*

  13. This from the poster who bitches about people focusing on typos and spelling issues? I suppose hypocrasy from you shouldn't surprise me. The option should say "him" and not "Jim." phone keyboards are not the easiest. (and FYI: I saw it before you mentioned it, but the edit feature doesn't let you change poll options for obvious reasons) witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*
  14. I never thought quade would make an "I will us google before asking stupid questions" statment. (sorry for crappy formating- blame my phone) witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*
  15. Found on assorted news sites. Whether you agree with him or not, does disapproving of another person's choices constitute "hate speech" that calls for censure and/or termination? witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*
  16. From NYTimes and other sources. Of course most of the sources they are "drawing from" are already being challenged in court, but hey, with massive budget shortfalls and hundreds of public safety positions unfilled, yeah, let's blow more taxpayers' money. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*
  17. Please link to any post I've made where I suggested that. Last time you wrote the same LIE and were similarly challenged you were unable to come up with any. That's because when someone asks you a direct question you won't provide a direct answer. You've certainly argued against plenty of posters who stated bans were wrong and/or illegal. Because you won't state your beliefs, we can only base our conclusions on what you've written and the only side we've seen you argue. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*
  18. "Yes," what, professor? Come on, there were three questions put to you. To quote the decision you mentioned, "what's reasonable about a ban?" witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*
  19. #1 Do you believe the second amendment protects an individual right? #2 Do you believe DC's ban was legal and should have been upheld? #3 Do you believe Chicago's ban is legal and should be upheld on remand to lower court? Simple yes or no questions that can be qualified later on if you care to elaborate on an initial answer. I'm just wondering if you can answer, or I'd you'll weasel out and go straight to te qualifiers and hypothetical exceptions. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*
  20. Really, that's the best you can do? Generally we call it a strawman when you create a weak argument that no opponent has proposed and then knock it down and claim your real opponents are wrong. And if you bothered to do your homework you'd see that many of the papers from the founding fathers make mention of free men, or of people capable of bearing arms. Those two things pretty clearly would limit felons and your "loonies," don't you think? But then, you have trouble with "the people" actually meaning "the people," so I understand if you have trouble with old time reading comprehension. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*
  21. Profman, it wouldn't be an different. Kagan would have voted exactly like the justice she is set to replace. No change in the vote or the majority opinion. As to the decision, it's a long read so I'll hold off on specifics, but I can predict that Chicago will act just like DC, they will continue to deny rights, making another lawsuit necessary. It's just too bad they will continue to waste time and money to fight a losing battle trying to save worthless laws that can't protect individuals or the public at large. I did get a laugh out of the dissent that mentions how democracy means courts should bow to local opinion and why does a judge know better. That's a hoot coming from one of the most activist justices on the SCUS bench. Judges should interpret the law, not waste time on politics and opinion. If it's not written into the constitution then it should be left to the states or the people. 22. Why make the question harder than it is? In general, if A and B recently crossed a border illegally and gave birth to little citizen C, and then they run into Officer Lanzao, do you think they should be deported or allowed to stay. I'm not asking about a person who was brought over decades ago or any of the other issues you're trying to use to cloud the issue. Where do you stand? Honestly, I get the impression you voted exactly how you meant to, not with some random blindfolded click. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*
  23. I didn't say it was a yes or no, I asked if you thought the firearms in those three incidents should be "impounded" since they appear to violate local laws. It can be a yes or no, but no one demanded you answer with just one word. If you've got more of an answer I'd love to hear it because it seems you spend a lit of time trying not to say anything yourself while criticizing others. And to answer your question, I've never beat my wife, so since I never started, there's nothing to stop. So how about it, an answer, or another response full of sound and fury signifying nothing? witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*
  24. I'm pretty sure I asked you a question. Yep. There it is. Care to answer? witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*
  25. In other words, you're not going to answer no matter how he gives you the question. Thanks for showing you still can't answer a question. You're one defense is pointing out one or more problems with how I asked the question, because I'm sure you and everyone else know what we're asking. I'm all ears to hear about what false premise I included by asking your opinion. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*
