  1. Well, according to the founding fathers/framers, the miltias was constituted of the whole people. Everyone. All of us. According to US law (TITLE 10 Subtitle A PART I CHAPTER 13 Sec. 311. In other words, I AM THE MILITIA, and so is every man between 17 and 45. Regulated was does not mean subject to thousands of regulations. It means well prepared. http://www.guncite.com/gc2ndmea.html Read the part about "well regulated." edited for format and to add definitions witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*
  2. Then I doubt anyone would have fired at you. Also, you're still assuming they were firing in the air. I doubt that now. In the air and at troops are two different things. Well, unless the local gang/drug runners/other organized "enemy" is using the beacon, you're not likely to be assumed a threat for being there. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*
  3. You left out the parts where people from your group fired rifles at US troops. Kinda makes a difference in the reaction you'd get. Oh yeah, and was your group assembled at a combatant waypoint? I'm not even calling this a wedding anymore, from now on, it's a 'group,' and nothing more. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*
  4. OK, first off, you're quoting the Afghan numbers, not the numbers from the recent event. Second, you're leaving out the fact that there was intel saying this was an insurgent/terrorist safe house. Third, US ground forces took hostile fire. This doesn't sound much like a wedding to me. It sounds like an enemy waypoint that our troops leveled (yes, women and children can be enemies too - pack mules, ammo runners in battle, ambushers, etc). witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*
  5. Yeah what he said. Vote against Bush. 2/3s of you go for Kerry, the other third for Nader. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*
  6. Your theory does sound good, but doesn't it leave out three things? (A) Doesn't the rig interfere with the smooth curve on the groundside (in backtracking)? (B) Don't the hip bend forward a lot better than back? (C) Don't the best fliers in the world (who can do both tracks better than any of us) always track on their bellies when competing in tracking races? I agree that finding the sweet spot on your back feels easier for freefliers, but I'd think the rig creates more negative than the "easy" body position. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*

  10. Nothing was clear in Bowling for Coumbine. That was the biggest piece of tripe ever released to the big screen, and it's a crime anyone still calls it a documentary. Someone here said the shooters attended bowling the morning before they pulled the trigger. In fact, they did not. (even the title of Moore's parcel of lies is incorrect) However, I got the impression the parents simply did not involve themselves, and did not watch what they were not involved in. You're right, that bit about it takes a villiage is garbage. It takes loving parents and family. Period. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*
  11. Am I the only one who actually read the article rhino posted? If it had been fired from a 155, there would have been more than two casualties. Because the sons of bitches used it in an IED, they rendered it ineffective. It was a WMD right up to the point where the IED around it went off. IF THEY USED IT AS INTENDED, IT COULD HAVE KILLED HUNDREDS OR THOUSANDS. IT WAS MADE LESS EFFECTIVE BECAUSE IT EXPLODED WITH THE IED. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*
  12. OK, try to follow this. The shell did not detonate correctly. It was blown up in an IED. The round needed to be fired as originally intended in order for the components to mix. No one is saying it was an WMD because some POS blew it up in an IED by the side of the road. People are saying it was a WMD because if used properly, it could've kill thousands. http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=1080685#1080685 It was a chemical weapon. Just because some insurgent didn't use it right, that doesn't change what it was. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*
  13. So what qualifies as a WMD in your opinion. Do Chemical weapons including one of the nastiest nerve agents known not qualify as WMDs to you? This was obviously a NBC weapon. It was fully capable of killing thousands. That is equivalent to WMD as far as I'm concerned. Tell me why I'm wrong, and don't say because some unnamed "coalition source" says so. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*
  14. But think, the largest financial sale is not always what a salesman is going for. Think car dealers; sometimes they have incentives to move certain models, sometimes the need to clear inventory, and sometimes they want to dump a POS on the next poor slob they think will take it. Now, obviously a gun shop can't get away with everything a car dealership can, but the same nuances apply. (yes, I was a salesman - buyer beware) The bastards !!! (I'm a wee bit biased) Normally I always tell people shop around and get away from faces you recognize, but in this case, if I were helping you, I'd insist. ps - I miss seeing the magaritaville birds ona regular basis...I may have to go get that pic or something. nope, playing One Particular Harbor took care of it. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*
  15. You are missing some information. This particular round is meant to be fired, not detonated. For the components to form sarin, they must mix (which would've happened if it was fired the way it was intended). The only reason US personnel didn't die of nerve agent exposure is that the makers if the IED didn't do their homework. They will next time (or the press has done it for them; free information, ain't it a bitch). It was a WMD right up until the IED blew it apart. If I had a small nuke and put it in a roadside IED, but didn't know it had to be activated to "go off," would that make it any less of a WMD? Also, if it's "put away somewhere," then it is still there, isn't it? That leads to the following statement of the obvious: there were (and are) WMDs in Iraq. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*
  16. OK, so the guy has a big voice. That's one reason I like him. I just disagree with him on a lot of domestic issues. I do, however, think he makes some good points in the article (along with some very odd statements). As to the Sec State thing, yeah, I suppose he wouldn't really be on the list, but he would definitely approve of what my State Dept would do. 17. Remember, a salesman's job is to get you to bring home a product that benefits you and him. You need to make sure the first is more important than the second. There have been lists compiled before, but basically, in revolvers the trusted names are Ruger, Taurus, S&W, and I suppose Colt. Anything else is just that, anything else. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*
  18. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/4990167/ Read the article. They say it's not their fault and have no need to be forgiven. They blame the school 'culture.' They say they didn't know he was out of hand until after the shooting. They relate it to a natural disaster. They shirk all responsibility. Sounds exactly like the kind of parents who might raise a 'Klebold.' witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*
  19. Now that was funny, but I have to side with you. Think about the term "pistoleros" They weren't exactly running around with semi-autos http://dictionary.reference.com/search?q=pistol witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*
  20. Sometimes you make it too easy. I can't remember if it was the AWB sunset or the Protection of Lawful Commerce in Arms Act, but I think 35,000 people wrote their senator about the bill....from Alaska alone!! Millions of Americans write their public officials on a regular basis about firearms issues. THAT is commonly held beliefs. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*

(keep in mind, I'm not NRA certified, and I don't qualify myself as an instructor, but...) It seems everytime I introduce someone to guns, or talk to people about the differences in firearms, the question on "assault weapons" comes up. When I explain exactly what they are, and what they do, and how often they are used in crimes according to the FBI UCR, people wonder WTF politicians were doing worrying about them instead of putting penalties on criminals. Would you say I'm crossing education with activism just because I explain the truth versus the common misconception? What, in your view, would qualify as "crossing into activism?" witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*

OK, that was funny, but isn't it "holding a gun to my head" telling me I can't defend myself the most efective way possible? (afterall, studies show that armed resistance lead to fewer injuries and more aborted violent crimes than any other method, including passivity, shouting, and physical resistance without a gun) I love it when you let me use these great little tidbits. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*
  23. So next you're going to tell me that affirmative action isn't racist? Would you prefer that common sense be thrown out the window and groveling begin every time someone cries "racism?" edit: 100,000 out of hundreds of millions does not qualify as "common" to me. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*

OK, so in their study, one of the five ranges had elevated lead sampling, and if I read things right, most of it was in plant roots and surface soil. I didn't read the entire thing, but what I got out of it is: (A) Florida has special circumstances making it particularly susceptable to lead causing a problem in some places, (B) the lead was in surface dirt (weathered soil, not subsurface soil), (C) there was more lead in older ranges ~duh~ (D) the levels were higher but not significantly higher than soil from the surrounding area, (E) they relied on a 1970s study for "common" soil/lead levels, (F) the berms contained a lot of lead, but there was none in the subsurface soil, and they did no analysis of the water table beyond surface water, and had no conclusive statement that the lead in that one pond came from the range. Overall, I don't find this very incriminating at all. It looks like they made the study sound scary in the opening and conclusion to get more funding. - one issue I have with the study is that they used 2mm sieves. that would leave in a large number of bullet fragments (smaller than bullets but bigger than problem lead, right?), which would skew the number high, would it not? I would, however, support ranges who decided to bring in dirt from other areas if multiple scientists concluded definitively reduced possibility of lead run off. ps - it also looked like local plants absorbed the lead that did leave surface soil, indicating once again that mother nature is quite capable of taking care of herself. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*
  25. Most people start with the deliniation between handguns and long guns. Then with hand guns, the two common categories are semi-auto and revolver (leaving out single shot pieces and full auto). Most people today call semi-autos 'pistols.' The two best examples of the 'pistol' category are Glocks and any 1911 clones. They have magazines in the grip and are semi-automatic in operation (the force of one shot ejects the spent casing and loads the next round). Revolvers are handguns with a cylinder that holds the cartridges in separate 'holes.' They are what you see in westerns, but are also still made today. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*
