  1. umm...Kennedy...you do have an accent that northern women enjoy as well.
  2. Dude, relax. It was all in good fun. Number three and four are what we call self deprecating humor. This country has a horrible reputation for suing everything that moves (unfortunately not an unfounded one) Also, apparently, some brits like to think all americans are cowboys (not a bad thing) that are violent (bad thing). I have to admit, I did leave out the vast amount (relative to US) of wonderful architecture. As to number two... What? I loved my visit to London and Britain just fine. Especially the part where I left and went to Scotland. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*
  3. (1) Pubs on every corner. (2) It's close to Scotland. (3) Brits are afraid I'll sue 'em if they piss me off. (4) Brits are afraid I'll beat the piss out of 'em if they piss me off. (5) Cuban cigars. (6) You can walk everywhere you need to, or there's a bus. (7) Dentistry is coming back into style. (8) um... (9) uh...geez...well... (10) Women there like my accent. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*
  4. I'm sure the church burners and lynch mobs are just waiting until September when the AWB sunsets so they can go get their "assault weapons. However, I, too, am waiting for an explanation as to why one murder is worse than another based on motivation. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*
  5. Well gee, of course, I forgot every petty thug and burglar is really a seething homicidal maniac, willing to have a shootout with thier victims, and will kill you for possibly being armed. In states that have concealed carry, not only have violent crime rates dropped, and not only faster than the national average, but deaths and gun violence have gone down in relation to the state crime rate. The conclusion to be drawn from this: criminals are less likely to shoot, first or otherwise. It's really very simple. When targets are likely to be armed, criminals will either leave the area or move to crimes where they never confront the human element. This is born out in RTC states, and the opposite is true in places where ownership is banned (Aus, for one - where do you think the term home invasion was coined?) witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*
  6. http://www.indystar.com/articles/3/148638-3803-127.html This coroner doesn't know WTF he's talking about. There are plenty of recorded instances where a perp or enemy combatant has taken 9mm slugs and kept going. The article says the delivery guy, Honeycutt, fired 15 rounds. It doesn't say how many hit the perp. Even if all fifteen hit, it's possible to keep going. Adrenaline, possible drugs, etc. make it possible to keep moving even when mortally wounded. Honeycutt was following a basic tenet of self defense with a firearm: (one that police follow as well) - once you decide to fire, keep firing until the threat is neutralized or until you are out of cartridges. Close up defensive firing can cause all sorts of entry angles because the target moves and the firearm is not aimed in conventional ways. To the sister: Honeycutt didn't set out to kill anyone; he defended himself. Also, it is fair that Honeycutt is home and your brother isn't - Honeycutt wasn't the one committing armed robbery. To the mother: your son did die in vain, because he was committing a felony. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*
  7. Saying it never happened doesn't scare jews, it makes them (and most others) view you as a freak. It's been illegal to be a gay basher a very long time. There are laws agaisnt assault and battery going very far back. Even in Canada. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*
  8. I'm still trying to figure out why killing a man because of his skin, or because of who he screws, is any worse than killing a man for money, or for revenge, or any other reason. (self defense, and justifiable excluded) They're all just as dead, aren't they? Some question for assault and battery. In events of equal severity, why is motivation more important in one case than another? witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*
  9. The man made a post. He was attacked for it. He clarified. Someone called him a liar. You must be something special that you know what he was thinking better than he does. Oh, and if you saw the original pre-edit, I have one more thing to say to you. **** witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*
  10. I'm not going to argue with most what you said. Most of it gels with what I have read, and I don't have time to argue with the rest. The Earth is a very dynamic place, not some hunk of rock for us to live on. So what are you saying, that the dinosaurs owned too many gas guzzling SUVs and polluted too much? This has ben my whole point. The surface of the earth is a changing place. It is beyond egotistical to think we can have a major effect on it is so short a time (not including nuclear winter). witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*

  12. http://www.cbc.ca/stories/2004/05/19/canada/guns040519 So now they're capping spending at $25 million a year (as opposed to the $1 billion already wasted). They haven't repealed it, they've just gutted it. Why would they want to keep part of it, for so much money, when their own provinces won't enforce it and so many people simply did not go along with it. So they're going out and doing more, even though NY, MD, and CA have yet to solve a crime with their systems. And in the face of even anti-gun California Atty General's report stating that it was a waste of crime fighting funds. Doesn't sound much like a repeal to me. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*
  13. What's your beef with the Matrix, the human = coppertop thing? But the movie was not made (to my knowledge) to make a political point of to sway voters one way or the other. What does the hijacking of the title have to do with the movie influencing national defense? My original quote should have said something along the lines of "used by its makers to influence..." Gattaca was a pretty good attempt at that. Gattaca (1997) was a good movie, but it was based far more than 3-4 years in the future. It was more like 15-20 years in the future. (I haven't seen the movie or read the book that inspired it, but I read a review of the book and have seen the trailers) My impression was that The Day After Tomorrow was based about as far in the future as the title implies. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*

  15. Let me know when they repeal that gun registration. I doubt many people will call for this one's head since they think it applies more to genocide than free speech. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*
  16. No you won't. You been sucked into the Corner. There is no escape. 17. Don't use kallend's cop out on me. The legislative, executive, and judicial branches all approved slavery (valuing white over everything else). Did that make it right? Have you really never seen PCism go too far? witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*
  18. Sure, it's happening. Can't really argue that (well, I could, but that would get boring quickly). My point is Kyoto wouldn't solve a damned thing, but it would cost everyone a lot of money. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*

  22. Star Wars was used to influence political discourse? Just a neat little fact: about five years ago we launched a probe/satellite/big expensive camera thing. Why is this neat? It uses a principle from star wars...you remember the empire used "TIE" fighters? Well, they were supposed to work on firing ions one way to propel themselves the other. Guess what the probe/camera uses to propel itself? Hollywood does a fairly good job with things far in the future or things that have already happened, the problem is they cant help but screw up things based in 'right now' or 'just a few years in the future.' Bill, look at their website for the movie. It's not even about the movie. It's a "let's go convince some idiots that this really is happening right now" website. Whatever the weather equivalent of PETA is, they would approve of the website. Don't the best sci-fi movies base themselves in a reality just like ours? Basically requiring all three laws of thermodynamics be repealed doesn't qualify. IF the entire movie screams "FAKE!!" then willful suspension of disbelief is kinda hard. Did you think dropzone and cutaway were accurate? Of course not. What did the population at large think? witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*

  25. OK, so the day after tomorrow a movie by that title comes out. http://www.usatoday.com/news/opinion/editorials/2004-05-24-michaels_x.htm 'Day After Tomorrow': A lot of hot air By Patrick J. Michaels As a scientist, I bristle when lies dressed up as "science" are used to influence political discourse. The latest example is the global-warming disaster flick, The Day After Tomorrow. This film is propaganda designed to shift the policy of this nation on climate change. At least that's what I take from producer Mark Gordon's comment that "part of the reason we made this movie" was to "raise consciousness about the environment." Fox spokesman Jeffrey Godsick says, "The real power of the movie is to raise consciousness on the issue of (global warming)." 'Nuff said. Oh, the plot. Global warming causes the Gulf Stream to shut down. This current normally brings tropical warmth northward and makes Europe much more comfortable than it should be at its northerly latitude. The heat stays stuck in the tropics, the polar regions get colder, and the atmosphere suddenly flips over in a "superstorm." The frigid stratosphere trades places with our habitable troposphere, and in a matter of days, an ice age ensues. Temperatures drop 100 degrees an hour in Canada. Hurricanes ravage Belfast. Folks in Japan are clobbered by bowling-ball-size hailstones. If we had only listened to concerned scientists and stopped global warming when we could. Each one of these phenomena is physically impossible. Patrick J. Michaels is senior fellow in environmental studies at the Cato Institute and author of the upcoming book, Meltdown: The Predictable Distortion of Global Warming by Scientists, Politicians and the Media. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*
