Apparently, the Supreme Court disagrees with you in this case. They feel that this 'battle' does need to be 'fought.' They decide whether cases are significant and address constitutional issues before they accept a case. My understanding is that if an officer arrests a person legitimately (on probable cause or after observing a crime), that person must give his name (and sometimes other information). We need to put this in perspective. Have you ever argued with your family in public? Would you expect cops to show up if you did? The man was arguing with his daughter. Until that becomes a crime, WTF was the officer investigating? If there's no crime, how is it a criminal investigation? From Hiibel's viewpoint, that's exactly what happened. He never resisted arrest, so I still wonder how he was convicted of that. Also, for what crime was he arrested? If there was no crime committed, was it not false arrest, wrongful detention, or a similar circumstance? witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*

Less a 'partisan' issue than a 'mourning' issue. Knee jerk proposals to emotional conditions is more of a Democrat thing than a conservative thing, so I'd say it's not a partisan thing. If this money change is still on the table after a period following the whole respectful silence thing, then that's when to consider it. As I recall, there were a number of proposals floating around about putting him on US currency a few months back. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*

Damn, you zappd the post before I got in a reply to it. I was wondering if I had a company-leading job I don't know about and a secret vault with untold vast riches in it. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*

Aww. Boo hoo. The landslide elected conservative wasn't a socialist/communist. Oh, heaven's to betsy, he didn't put another country's interest before that of the nation he led. Oh, goodness-sake, he wasn't a bleeding heart liberal. "Piss off," to whatever uncooth flake wrote that. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*

The $1,000+ in damage to my car done by a semi-starved deer crossing an interstate for food leads me to agree with you, Kev. BTW, the deer was just as dead as if it had been killed by a hunter. No meat, no economic value, no positive memory for me. Just dead. I, too, am not a hunter, but I see more value in hunting than I ever will in skydiving. Zenister, I also see your point, and should I ever choose to hunt a non-predatory animal, I believe I would choose tools I did (or could) make myself. (I missed out on a wild-boar hunt with lances only because I was travelling) However, the first time I face a bear (theoretically) I would rather have a Compund bow with steel tipped composite arrows than a recurve with wood and stone arrows. (and honestly, the first time I face a bear for blood, I'd rather have a Ruger .30-06 than any bow) witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*

the article: Riiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiight. The UN says it's peace keeping, not occupation, so I'm sure no more insurgents will lay in ambush or plant IEDs, and no more American troops will die. Andy, by worked the system, you mean bowed to unrelenting pressure to not do a damned thing about Saddam and Iraq? OK, seriously, according to you guys, this UN resolution is a big deal. So answer me this: what does it change? What is different? witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*

Washington Post? A hometown paper? Bwah hahahahahaha If it weren't for the NY papers, I'd call the WashPost the 'LA Times of the east coast.' witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*

It would be best not to have any drinking age whatsoever. If you take the "coolness" factor, and the "we're not allowed so let's do it" desirability away, then kids will treat it with more respect, and less mysticism. Does anyone really think a fourteen year old would really want to try liquor more than once if it wasn't so "cool?" witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*

Have him bring the Conan broadsword and the Terminator M-134. (aka mini gun, vulcan cannon; see attached) I'm sure he would have their attention. If that doesn't work, threaten them with required book reports on Mrs. Ahnold's latest release. It appeared that the weapon Arnold had in T2 was a General Electric minigun, M-134/GAU-2b. It fires a 7.62 mm round from 6 rotating barrels at peak cyclic rates of up to 6,000 rpm. Barrel rotation is powered by an electric motor. The "ammo chain" is actually an enclosed feeder. The bullets are inside of this feeder. That is why it appears to not move. If you look losely, you'll see a steady stream of spent cartridges dropping out of the bottom of the weapon. (I must be slipping, I actually had to look up the name of the monster cannon used in Terminator 2) witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*

unfourtunately, the "stupid people" outnumbering the "intelligent people" can vote socialized health care for them selves, and make the "intelligent people" support them. You ignore one thing. With liberal editors and liberal administrators, conservative journalists will not be hired, and will not be heard. The simple fact is there is a huge demand (see Foxnews, talk radio). Have you seen an influx of conservatives at the Washington Post? LA Times? Didn't think so. FoxNews provided for the market something that the big papers did not. Hence its wild success. CNN, on the other hand, provided something totally new and unheard of, something people said couldn't be done. It was successful because it was the first, and had no direct competition. Radio news is no less valid than TV news. It is easier (cheaper) to start up than a TV network. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*

Think maybe more and more parents are becoming that way due to a welfare state and a nanny school system? I agree with you though, especially at younger ages. A slap in the face to parents who aren't paying attention might be a good thing, though I'm not going to expect results. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*
