http://news.google.com/news?q=oil+for+food+sevan+letters&hl=en&lr=&ie=UTF-8&sa=N&tab=wn Like I said, it was just the first one I found. It's not my fault you assumed that because it's on Fox it's tripe, or that you didn't bother to check for yourself whether or not other news outlets had carried the story. Millions of Americans are still in the dark about how this administration has decieved us thanks to a very effective propaganda machine and it's public outlet, FOX News, the conservative equivalent of Al Jazeera. I'm sure any American not living in a cave is well aware of the Left's interpretation of GWB's motives and alleged misdeeds. Honestly, how many people do you think really use FOXNews as their only source of information? Finally, I must have missed the humor in the Fox/Al Jazeera comparison. Can you help me out, and maybe point out some similarities? I saw a much funnier comparison of the LATimes editor to the (ex)Iraqi (dis)Information Minister. {of course, that also gave examples and supplied startling wit, rather than simply making a claim and expecting those who agree with you to believe it and discounting everyone else} witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*

Bernstein Op Ed -- "History lesson: GOP must stop Bush"
Kennedy replied to quade's topic in Speakers Corner
So someone's opinion of "Bush's failure, or inability, to lead competently and honestly," is now to be ranked equivalent to high crimes and misdemeanors? Ahem, "what is 'is?'" "Monica-gate" and "Zipper-gate," I wouldn't care enough to push for impeachment, though the BJ and cigar were crimes in DC. Perjury-gate, on the other hand, means a bit more to me. I guess that doesn't have a soundbite ring to it, since I can't remember it being called that on the evening news. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1* -
I'd break bread with Bill Cosby any day, or first round of Jello shooters is on me . witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*

So you quote the UN when UN officials are under investigation and find that reliable, but when the Pentagon speaks out on soldiers accused of misconduct, it's lies, damn lies, eh? Tell me again about objectivity. See attached. Then see THIS LINK Feel free to knock these hicks all you like. I do. I'm Jersey, born and raised. From the link you posted. Tell me again about objectivity. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*

By and large, North Korea doesn't have the gas to get their army to Seoul. Their nukes could reach, but their army is ineffectual. There are a large number of grunts, but no army runs without gas. Potent defensive force, and good for posturing/blackmailing the weak-kneed, but not particularly suited to offensive expeditionary warfare. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*

Yeah, I'm sure every crooked bureaucrat tells everyone who works for him that he is skimming and taking kickbacks. You are going to tell me about being objective, and yet you quote the very people under scrutiny. Come on, tell me you see the problm with that. Fox was just the first news organization I found who mentioned the letters. What, everything by them is now automatically unsuited for discussion? I swear, you New Yorkers are something else. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*

Aren't most people ignorant, rather than stupid? I think the question you're really asking is "what do ignorant people who haven't prepared for life do now that they are in mid-life?" witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*

Like I've said before: ignorance is curable, stupidity is permanent. Luckily, most people are merely ignorant. This is good for the gene pool but no better for the current state of affairs. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*

1 - someone with: (A) Pat Buchanan's foreign policy (B) John Stossel's skeptecism (C) Jesse Ventura's "we don't need you" attitude (D) GWB's drive and determination -I have no good candidate, so............me? 2 - NSA Rice, Jeanne Kirkpatrick (younger), Ayn Rand (still living) 3 - Larry Elder, or someone with experience who thinks like him .. - Colin Powell (maybe), but can anyone really say what his domestic stances would be? witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*

http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,119116,00.html So Benin Sevan knew nothing about it, but is accused of coming home with $3.5 million.... There are a few quotes and sources from me. It's your turn. Why don't you share with us your crystal ball? ps - if Annan and Sevan really want this panel to accomplish anything, why doesn't Volcker have the power of sub poena? witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*

TypicalFish is right, the balding, big bellied guy in the pic is Secret Service Police (not an agent). The uniforms provide building security and an "obvoius" security presence. See the gun and two spare mags on his belt? That's no every day run of the mill security guard! (that's a security guard with federal LEO powers) witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*

This would be the UN that set up a semi independant panel, then sent letters to all contractors to remind them of "contractual confidentiality," also known as shut up and don't give the investigators anything, right? Yeah, thought so. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*

Isn't this what is referred to as cross-posting? You going to put it in General Skydiving, too? I mean, it's got a plane in it.

You are really making a point of ingoring the point of posts to nit-pick insignificant details. Fine. I could post praise of Charlton Heston for winning his awards acting, in civil rights service in multiple areas, and wish him well while bravely fighting a debilitating disease, without making any mention of ideology. Would that belong in The Bonfine, or Speakers Corner? Also, by your "logic," this is a repost, because there are threads praising Moore (or were you not interested in the fact that Glock won a new award recently, as Moore did?). More to the point, there is already a thread in Speakers Corner concerning F 9/11. See Here. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*

And I could post a congratulations to Glock firearms manufacturer for having an outstanding and awardwinning product, without saying anything about ideology. Please. Moore is an ass, his movies are fiction, not documentary, and yes, anything involving him is political, weapon related, and basically Speakers Corner material. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*

Yeah? And the crucifix swirling in a used toilet bowl was called art. What's your point, that critics have no taste and live somewhere other than reality? witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*

Kallend, I had more faith in your intelligence that this. The military and national security apparatus use satellites. They are top secret code word compartmentalized heebie jeebie spy stuff. Do you really think a KeyHole satellite would be manifested as one? Or some secret StarWars stuff would be named? No. It would go up as "undisclosed military payload." Since when is a spy satellite a WMD? witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*

I don't think Jeffrey ever said the Titan wasn't built there. He said WMDs aren't built there. Lockheed obviously has a plant producing rockets there. He said it wasn't used as a WMD. It isn't and it hasn't. Your microwave was originally designed as a tool of war. Does that mean your microwave is a weapon? I think this whole argument started when someone called the rocket pictured in the fictional documentary a WMD. It isn't. Also, I think it's a rocket, not a missle, but don't quote me on it. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*

Yes he is, a very good guy. I wish I could find a transcript of what all he said. I've heard he kind of piss off the NAACP. Of course he pissed off the NAACP. He told them to take some personal responsibility, that it's not all someone else's fault, and that they need to get their collective ass in gear and put in some effort if they want to improve things. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*

The NRA had a meeting in Denver shortly after the Columbine shooting. In their defense it had been planned before the shooting. A quote from Heston's speech at that meeting on May 4th, 1999: "I have a message from the mayor, Mr. Wellington Webb, the mayor of Denver. He sent me this and said don't come here, we don't want you here. . . . First off, the mayor can kiss my and every other gun owner's pasty white ass (or whatever skintone they have without sunshine). Second, it would have been a breach of the bylaws to move or reschedule the annual meeting. There are requirements to set it so far in advance and it cannot be changed. Third, they didn't come in to town "to celebrate guns," they came in to hold the annual meeting for a civil rights organization. Whose side would you be on if some town mayor told the NAACP not to come to town, that they were not welcome? More sensationalism by the Chicago Sun-Times. It can't be that the "bank will hand over a Weatherby." In other places, they have given out certificates to be redeemed for firearms after a NICS check at a FFL. Michael Moore had to find that rifle, bring it into the bank, stage the scene where he picked it up, and so on. He was a director there, not a documenter. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*

Twisted Facts and Falsehoods in Media Fund Ad
Kennedy replied to Gravitymaster's topic in Speakers Corner
Media fund...aren't they the ones complaining about the oil platforms of the Florida coast causing damage? Meanwhile, the Tampa Bay local paper said there was no platform where they wree talking about, so it's kinda hard for them to do any damage, isn't it? witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1* -

You're still assuming this was an innocent wedding party caught in the middle, rather than a group of militants who fired on approaching US forces. I see no reason to assume one over the other, and find that if I were forced to choose, I would go with militants over wedding. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*
