  1. yeah, the screensaver is good enough, but the profile thing doesn't accomplish a damned thing. basically, I'm trying to find something like the below, without the price tag. (and without the trashy marketing and goofy claims aobut being the only one out there) witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*
  2. Unfortunately that doesn't do it. You can get around the profile passwords entirely too easily. Hell, I know two ways, I and don't know shit about computers. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*
  3. Sorry, I wasn't clear. I have all the external security I need. What I need is a program that I can use to deny access to someone who sits in front of my machine. Just something that prompts for a password before allowing access to anything. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*
  4. OK, so I need a desktop security program. Requirements: (A) FREE (B) It doesn't fuck up everything else when it's "off" (C) It has an option to automatically run on startup (so as not to be defeated by just turning the tower off) Suggestions? witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*
  5. sometimes I really hate part-timing in a bookstore. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*
  6. So, after this ruling, an HMO can throw you out the day after quadrupal bypass surgery, and when you suffer the expect complications, it's not their fault? witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*
  7. More than once, but not for too long. (no dead kittens) You think the second and third pic are the same chick? witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*
  8. Resident gun-nut, here (as officially appointed by no one in particular over in The Bonfire). not going to answer your question as it has no bearing on me, but I have one for you. Why would you choose to own firearms if you moved to the US? Would you choose to do so anywhere you moved if it were legal, or just here? edit: feel free to PM me to keep your thread on topic witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*
  9. And that's why I don't understand how anyone can stomach the system as it is right now. The people who actually elect the president, the electoral college, have no requirement whatsoever to vote the way the people in their state did. Hell, they could elect me president in Novemember, and I'm not on anyone's ballot. ps - if that actually had happened, I wonder how long it would've taken for Sore and Loserman to be knocked off so the republican next in line could take office... (that would've been Lott, right?) witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*
  10. Actually, I do. He did not "use" the system. He participated in it appropriately. He did not use te Supreme Court to get elected, he used them to stop Sore/Loserman's attempts to steal an election. Bush was elected. He won according to the system in place. Therefore any actions he took after the first vote count were to ensure the system functioned appropriately. He didn't use the system or the SCUS to get elected. He had already been elected. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*
  11. Kev, I wouldn't tell you (or anyone else) to shut up if they wanted to talk about changing the system. Hell, even Ron agrees with you (and how often does that happen?). If you want to talk about changing the system, fine, let's do that (in another thread might be easier). But don't start bashing on Bush just because the process in place meant that he was elected. He didn't manipulate it, he didn't massage it, he didn't circumvent it. The only people I saw doing that were in the Sore/Loserman camp. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*
  12. How can you say he was "using the system" to get elected. That's how the fucking system works. You don't have to have the popular vote to get elected. You have a problem with that? Take it out on congress, not the man who won an election by the rules in place. The popular vote doesn't mean a damned thing. What "more Americans wanted" is irrelevant to how the system works right now. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*
  13. (ok, deep breaths...) I was afraid you said ER was riveting tv. I was afraid I was going to have to slap a lawyer. I'm definately with you in the tv opinions department. Nothings better than good discovery/history/learning channel stuff. And Law & Order when they have a good reality setting. (have you noticed the betters ones don't have the "any relation to actual persons or events" at the end are the better ones?) You just can't make that shit up. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*
  14. The only people trying to use the system to steal the election were the people working for *Sore/Loserman* The DNC wasn't bitching about the electoral college before the votes, they have no right to try to change the result after the count becuase that would fall in their favor. I don't see them in court or congress trying to change the system now, either. Every single recount in Florida showed that Bush won. Bush was the politician elected in 2000. Get over it. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*
  15. sure you can... just make sure you trade it for something really nice. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*
  16. The man won the fucking election. For shit's sake, the next one is almost here. GET OVER IT. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*

  18. so you've confirmed Casie is worth killing some kittens for, but the big question is do you think she'll be making some puppies for you? ps - lucky bastard witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*
  19. Really? I got the impression it was probably a dumbass FUI who said, "that's a runway..." and not a UFO that said, "land now or else..." witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*
  20. Are you really going to sit there and say that massacres and atrocities haven't been going on for centuries over there? (A) Of course more Iraqis are dead now than were before Iraqi Freedom. The Baathists and anti-american forces fought for power and are now dead. The Iraqis who worked with the US (and continue today as cops and soldiers) died fighting the regime and now the insurgents. (B) As Tom said, you can't compare before and after. You have to compare quality of life and fear factor to pass any before and after judgments. US troops were not within reach, so terrorism did not happen against us. Terrorism against the people was not necessary because the dictator was in control with no effective opposition in most areas. He used torture and thug squads, rather than terrorism. Terrorism is on the rise because that's all that's available. The numbers are also higher because, as someone else said, we are aware of it now. We are there with people on the ground to keep track of things. It's just like when NYPD started a crime hotline, and the crime rate soared in test areas. Some dipshit politicians blamed the phone number. Criminologists had to use small words to explain that they were just learning about more crimes now - the number hadn't risen, their awareness had. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*
  21. As much as I hate to agree with benny, I don't follow your statement. I understand that the twelfth states that anyone ineligible to office of President is ineligible to be VP. If you're saying the twenty second amendment has no bearing, how is Clinton ineligible? If you're saying he's ineligible for Pres under the 22nd, and thereby the 12th, well, that wouldn't be getting elected, now would it? I agree with you, it's a silly argument, but a lawyer could easily argue the difference between being eligble for the office and being elected to the office. They're lawyers. Ridiculous is what they do. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*

  24. So does that post mean you are agreeing with markharju that many of the "abuses" were in fact minor, that they should not stop, and that executions may follow? Or are you simply avoiding the debate and attempting to draw attention to another topic where you feel more secure? ...again... witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*
  25. Religious leaders are involved at every level. They're just involved with the wrong side. It doesn't much matter what the mosque down the block is preaching when the ones in Saudi Arabia are contemplating the overthrow of the house of Saud. witty subliminal message Guard your honor, let your reputation fall where it will, and outlast the bastards. 1*
