I myself don't believe scale determines the grossness of a crime. I do. I don't like Clinton either. What Bush did has nothing to do with what Clinton did. I think both are plenty pitiful. If the IRS then still fines him he IS still guilty. It's interesting to me how you define guilt in terms that leaves loopholes for him who you wish hadn't done what he very obviously has done. Guilt isn't reserved for those who have been convicted by a court of law. Likewise, innocence is not defined by lack of conviction. The offense is in the act itself. Then you are willing to admit to a double standard. I don't think it's a double standard at all. I think one is a forgivable transgression and the other is not. Sexual assault (I believe the Jones complaint meets that term) is forgiveable? What if he had done it a few hundred times instead of just a few times? And if it is about scale - Clinton ordered a few mass bombings of Iraq to try to keep Saddam in line (funny enough, the GOP complained at the time). No doubt hundreds or thousands of Iraqis died directly or indirectly. So at what level of death is it acceptable foreign policy, and at which point is it not? Let me remind you that the justification was the same for both attacks. Personally, unless we accept that impeachment is an entirely political concept rather than one of justice, I can't see the cause for the same Congress that approved this war to now impeach the Executive for it. I think the Democratic leadership will be happy to let various states and cities pass resolutions to toot their horns and that will be all. BWAHAHAHA!!!! I'd say that's a DESPARATE attempt to make Bush look innocent by comparison....lol. Paula Jones???? Now SHE's a reliable person...HAHAHA!!! Desert Fox? Yes. I wash my hands frequently, cough into a hankie, and take pills of whatever sort will make the day a little easier. When my son is sick, though, I let him stay home from school and rest. Even if he's not ALL that sick. Depends on how necessary it is for you to be there. Don't screw your co-workers over by staying home. But if your being there isn't all that important, then by all means stay home and keep your coworkers safe from the crud you're coughing up. One really big difference. We have proof Clinton had an affair. We have proof he lied under oath. You have nothing, but make the claim anyway. Then you defend Clintons actions by saying they are not as bad as Bush's...However, you STILL can't prove any wrong doing by Bush. So you are convicting Bush without evidence. And defending Clinton against evidence. Like I said before, I WELCOME an investigation, even an impeachment trial. And again I state that if he is found guilty, I will join with you to seek punishment. I also hope that if found not guilty you will drop your accusations that were found false. I can forgive lying under oath about a blow job. I can't forgive lying (even when not under oath) in order to invade a country that results in the death of thousands of innocent Iraqi people and American soldiers. I think that's right. By "us" I mean we as a society....or as people. Some actions that may seem to benefit an individual at others' expense is bad for us as a whole....and so we've come to regard things like rape and murder as wrong. I don't consider a 1 1/2 y/o child throwing a fit to be a sin, though. It's just a young child learning how to get along in the world. Nothing bad about it. You're teaching him what's socially acceptable. Not what's "good." In many ways, my son shows me that kids are born good. For instance, he's heard my potty mouth since he was born (though I do TRY to do better....sometimes it just slips). The child tells me over and over that I shouldn't talk like that. He SURE doesn't repeat those words....though he does question how a word can be bad, because it just doesn't make sense to him. His sense of morality is definitely different from mine. They all have to do with your ego if you accept that your ego development is a product of your socialization. Some people can learn and grow on their own, others (most) just slide by on what they've been fed. The traditional roles of men and women in our society exist for the benefit of some and the control of others. What it comes down to is this: You were socialized to believe and act in certain ways concerning gender difference and (sincerely, I believe) don't want a system familiar and comfortable to you to change. If you buy into those old tabula rasa theories, then it'd be that simple.
