  1. I know several people who haven't found south carolina bad. They mostly came to work for several months and enjoyed the stay but also wanted to go. back. I plan on skydiving as much as possible on the weekends. I hope thats possible in the area. I allready contacted skydive carolina, but haven't gotten an answer jet. Looks like buying cars works like in germany, except that dealers here have to offer a one year guarantie at the least. Is there an organisation that collects prices of sold used cars and offers them as a guideline for the price of a used car? I don't want to get ripped off. 2. I was in New Jersey when i was about 8 or 9 years old for 2 years. Does that qualify me to judge the rest oft the country Franco If it does not cost anything you are the product.
  3. It is pretty certain that i will be working in Spartanburg South Carolina for 1 Year, starting January. I am starting to prepare a bit so i have a lot of questions and i hope some of you can help me out. I allready found a close DZ.
  4. Maybe http://www.skydivetortuga.com/ in Italy can be an alternative. They also don't have the high winds that Empuria is said to have. Franco If it does not cost anything you are the product.
  5. I answered no because i clean them roughly every 50 jumps wich is more than an month. Franco If it does not cost anything you are the product.

  9. Neu Schwanstein :-) ... and while you are there take a look at the Wieskirche pretty near. If its Saturday you could also move on to Altenstadt (near Schongau) and make a jump from our Carvan. Next you could go to munich for the Oktoberfest. Franco If it does not cost anything you are the product.
  10. We where at Skydive Tortuga in Arezzo last week. We wanted to come on Monday, but the DZ was closed on Monday an Tuesday. I called and emailed a bunch of DZ north of Arezzo and did not find a single one that was opened during the week. We wanted to find one that where we could jump before we go to Arezzo. One offered to fly if we where more than 8 people another would have usually been open, but was closed also on Monday and Tuesday (pullou.it). If its in the north of Italy skydive Tortuga in Arezzo is the place to be, maybe also pullout Ravenna, i don't know about the south. If you decide to go to tortuga give them a call, if you are a group, i think they also pick you up at the airport with one of the jumpplanes. Also if you want to make a lot of jumps a day (>4) tell them at the manifest, so that they can plan. If there are not enough skydivers to keep the porter running all the time you want to be on most of the loads and they can arrange that. We made between 4 jumps on the first day and 10 jumps on Friday. Franco If it does not cost anything you are the product.
  11. I called yesterday and barbara told me its closed on Monday and Tuesday.
  12. Does anybody know dropzones in Italy that operate from August 27th to 31st of August. We plan on going to Skydive Tortuga but they are closed untill the 31st. Body Fly University ist also closed until the 17th of Sept. We would prefer a dropzone that has Bunkhouses but camping is also ok. We would like to be able to make at least 6 jumps a day. The webpages are not alway up tp date. Anybody habe any recomendations? Franco If it does not cost anything you are the product.
  13. Found the answer myself. Dropzone is closed at the moment and will reopen on Sept 17th. Franco If it does not cost anything you are the product.
  14. Hello, we are planing skydiving in Italy next week. We would like to start at Body Fly University (http://www.bfu.it but the phonenumber does not seem to exist. The webpage does not seem up to be uptodate. Does anybody know if they still exist? If they don't exist, what dropzones in Italy would you recomend besides skydive Tortuga that is open form next week Saturday to Tuesday. Thanks Franco If it does not cost anything you are the product.
  15. No, its not sold anywhere in a store, i believe my friend is the only one that makes and sells them. PM me if you want his email adress, i think he has mailed other rigging stuff to the US before. If it does not cost anything you are the product.
  16. A friend of mine sometimes sells a special tool he makes on german ebay. http://cgi.ebay.de/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&category=13363&item=5210613550 The tip in the one side is to remove old Rubber bands sort of like a pen tip does, but it doesn't break. The hook side is to put new rubber bands on, with the hook you can pull the rupper bands thight enough so that they have a big enough loop right when you first use the new rubber band. Its made of stainless steel. Maybe thats what you are looking for. Franco If it does not cost anything you are the product.
  17. Windsuit? Sounds pretty cool.. what does it do, where can I get one? Did i write that, impossible.
  18. Yes, it does. Take a look at the skydiving fatalities database. The biggest factor is probably the smaller, more aggressive canopies and more aggressive landing aproaches. Other reasons: Camera jumps wich take your attention from the actual skydive and inproper helmets that sometimes catch a line. More people in the air. More willingness to jump in not so good conditions like high wind, clouds. Stuff like tubes, wingsuits. Read the incidents forums an decide what you should not do. 19. No I just downsized from a PD 190 to a spectre 170, that should be enough for the next few hundred jumps. If it does not cost anything you are the product.
  20. Where is the problem? Google for that story and you will find it all over the place in all kinds of media (CNN etc.). I would be very surprised if a story from Spiegel would be factualy wrong. Spiegel articles are usually well researched, but are always a bit over the top. Thats what made articles bevor the gulf war very interesting. Since they are over the top you have got to know how to read a Spiegel article. FrancoR If it does not cost anything you are the product.
  21. I do that every weekend on my dirve home
  22. You should post that on Stammtisch, thats where all the germans speaking jumprs are. Nobody will mind an english post on Stammtisch. Franco If it does not cost anything you are the product.
  23. I do VJ, but not professionally, only ocasianally at the moment i don't have the time to do much anyway. I don't use any of my skydiving footage, but plan on doing so when i have more time. Franco If it does not cost anything you are the product.
