  1. yes, exactly. Quote If it does not cost anything you are the product.
  2. I dont overdue my repack, but there is no need to, it is 12 Months in germany, if the manufacturer of your reserve and container permits it. If you want to see what your manufacturer permits in germany have a look at this list:http://www.prueferverband.de/Geraetedaten/Repack%20gesamt-02-04-04.pdf If it does not cost anything you are the product.
  3. Get a tool called gspot to find out wich avi codec was used. It can be downloaded somewhere. Have a look at this page for the codec. http://www.moviecodec.com/codecdownload/ If it does not cost anything you are the product.
  4. Repost, sort of. http://www.dropzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/gforum.cgi?post=260107;search_string=%20%09%20%20%20Boondock%20Saints%20;#260107 Love the movie too. If it does not cost anything you are the product.
  5. Your camera only understands a DV format video throught firewire. Premiere only understands certain file and codec types, i don't think mp4 is one of them. Premiere will read AVI files, but not all of them because AVI files use different codecs. What you need to do is convert the file to AVI and a codec that premiere can read, preferably DV. Try Stoik video encoder (search, i don't know where i got it from) and encode to a standard codec like MJPEG, DivX, or even better to a lossles codec like Huffyuv. Huffyuv will create a very big file though. Take that file to premiere and export via firewire. If it does not cost anything you are the product.
  6. You can use the polishing stuff they sell for displays. If you want to polish a few other things (googles, altimeters....) use the stuff for plastic rear windows in convertible cars. Bigger bottles, same price, at least on this side of the ocean. If it does not cost anything you are the product.
  7. You probably have a 4 pin Firewire port on your Laptop, that looks like the one in the first picture. If you have a 6 pin Firewire port, wich is uncomon for laptops it will look like the port on the right in the second picture. If it does not cost anything you are the product.
  8. Are you sure it dosn' t have a firewire port? Wich laptop do you have? If it does not cost anything you are the product.
  9. I might be wrong but i think pinnacle is not the best in encoding. You can get tmpeg here: http://www.tmpgenc.net/ But i think that version does not support mpeg2, so it won't do SVCD. If you want to make an SVCD go for TMPEG Plus, you can get that here: http://www.pegasys-inc.com/ I don't know how to read out the bitrate of an mpg file, but if Pinnacle encodes it will be a standard SVCD, so it won'T be the problem with a too low bitrate. If it does not cost anything you are the product.
  10. What are you using to encode SVCD or VCD? Wich Program? They are quite different. Try Tmpeg, thats one of the good ones. Also what bitrate are you using for the encoding? Can you go for a higher bitrate with your software? If so, do that as long as you stay within the specifications of SVCD. If it does not cost anything you are the product.
  11. Ok, so I'm not an expert on materials here, but this combination seems a bit different to me. Care to elaborate a bit more on this? Glass an polyester is cheaper but also not as though as carbonfibre and epoxy. On the other side if a manufacturer uses carbonfibre but makes it so thin that it leaves holes where you can see the light through the shell of the helmet as with my bonehead i am not sure how much better carbon fibre still is. In any case it is possible to build a much lighter helmet with carbon fibre if done properly. In the end it is as always, you get what you pay for. If it does not cost anything you are the product.
  12. Have you tried this page: http://mypage.bluewin.ch/aviationworld/pc6/index.htm or aasked the webmaster? If it does not cost anything you are the product.
  13. yup, i agree. gear checks are performed by humans, human error is the most common reason for death in skydiving If it does not cost anything you are the product.
  14. I think that is the link i refered to. Thanks a lot. I am getting the modification for my Next rig. If it does not cost anything you are the product.
  15. I think i read about this happening some time ago, but i don't remember where it was. Now i am ready to order new Container and i had my rigger ask the manufacturer if it was possible to reinforce the pillows to make sure they don't flip under the harness. The manufacturer replied that they would make this modification, but did not think it was really necesary. So what is the experience of the skydivers on this? Any aditional comments welcome. I think it is a good idea for a cheap gear improvement and i am going to get it if you don't hear any disadvantages. I think one manufacturer allready does this, but i don't remember wich one. 16. How is the ringsight mounted? Can it rip off the helmet in case a line gets cought? Or is it bolted with a metal screw? If it does not cost anything you are the product.

  19. 345 mb is way to big. How about some more compression? Either use DivX, WMV or a higher quicktime compression, but 345mb is just too big for 11min of video. If skydivingmovies.com is online, you can upload it there, but i think it is still down or only running on a temporary server withlimited bandwith. If it does not cost anything you are the product.

  25. Check out the quick time filters in Premiere, it will let you add scratches and dust. There is no old movie flter in Premiere that i know of. Check out thte other filters to make it black and white and then a little orange. That should work. If you can add an old movie filter with cour camera during playback that might also be a option.
