  1. Seems like the results of the poll prove out what I've seen from DZOs... while one or two might be out only for the $$$ most DZOs realize that if they just want to make money that there are MUCH easier ways to do it besides skydiving. Most DZOs are in the game because they love the sport... remember the VERY OLD joke about how to make a small fortune in skydiving? Elvisio "so long since my last jump I think I'm regressing to static line" Rodriguez
  2. I just wrapped up the semester this morning. Goals for the coming month: 1.) Working only as much as necessary to pay the bills; 2.) Running with the Fire Department; 3.) Running with the Rescue Squad; 4.) Working out; 5.) Playing XBox. 6.) NOT FECKING STUDYING! Elvisio "much too laude" Rodriguez
  3. I'm just looking forward to another winter without tandem jumping with a mix of sadness and relief, and wondered what everyone else's winter plans were... Elvisio "just keep the vacation less than 120 days" Rodriguez
  4. "Amazing Grace" on bagpipes. I know, it's cliche. I don't care. "Southern Cross" by CSNY. Story of my life, in a happy way. Elvisio "all misty eyed" Rodriguez
  5. I love this poll! It shows that way more guys go dutch or have the woman pay. Damn, we ARE skydivers, after all! I voted for her paying, since I am (at the moment) a severely broke bastard going back to school. I paid last night when we went to a burger joint, but if it's a meal of any real quality or consequence then she's gonna have to pick up the tab, lest the Capital One Vikings kneecap me. Elvisio "what's in my wallet? Not very damn much" Rodriguez
  6. Uh, hasn't this already been done? I seem to recall something about somebody with BIG BRASS ONES trying something similar on a BASE setup. Or maybe I only seem to recall somebody talking about it. Or maybe I've gone completely over the edge and now I'm just rambling to myself and eating paint chips. Elvisio "friday night beer" rodriguez
  7. Did you know that diamonds AREN'T forever? Actually, diamonds are formed at temperatures and pressures way above room T and P. Though they may be thermodynamically stable in the environment where they're formed, they're actually thermodynamically unstable at room T and P. So, they're going to break down. Kinetically, it'll take AGES for them to break back down to graphite, but it'll happen. Hey Diamante, you reading this thread? Elvisio "knew I quit engineering for a reason" rodriguez
  8. Start out with a good workout at the gym. That gets you that good "post workout" endorphine rush. Then, start drinking AS SOON as you get home. No water, just your alcohol of choice. You'll be so dehydrated from the workout that the drinks will hit you hard. Don't move on to the next step until you're nice and smashed. Then, get a good meal. I recommend something grilled, or something fried. Whatever it is, make it super tasty and really bad for you. Hey, you worked out today, right? Then, just wait for nature to take it's course. The end result will be the finest, most fulfilling, truly enjoyable shit you have ever taken. THEN, get shagged. By this point, you'll be so tired, drunk, full, and relieved that you won't give a damn how good or bad it is! Elvisio "ladies wanting to please your man, take notes" Rodriguez
  9. Refer back to my last post about C.T. being the hottest chickie in hollywood... you ain't the ONLY one disappointed by the costume! Elvisio "still fully hot, though" Rodriguez
  10. I guess I'm one of the folks you don't like. I don't overdo the floods, but I've always preferred a single wreath on the front door, with a spotlight highlighting it. Dunno why, but it always just seemed to get the message across without being too gaudy. Elvisio "plus I'm too lazy to hang lights" rodriguez
  11. Half the fun of it was that I never understood what it was about, or where she was, or what the hell she was doing, or who she was killing... I was thinking about buying the box set too, no decision yet. She is simply THE hottest thing in hollywood right now, so I'm sure I'll end up seeing it (with the gf bitching and whining the whole time, no doubt). elvisio "mmmmm... tight black leather" Rodriguez
  12. I'm guessing that most of you have already been reminded by your compters, but just in case... There's NOTHING worse than getting to work an hour early on Monday morning... Getting this extra hour of sleep is about the only thing I look forward to about fall. Elvisio "too damn cold already" Rodriguez
  13. Hell, you better be happy to be able to see ANYTHING after seeing that... Elvisio "my eyes! my eyes! It burns!" Rodriguez
  14. I thought the upgrade to XP would run me about $99... or so I was told. Elvisio "broke bastard" Rodriguez
  15. I know I know... Mozilla Mozilla Mozilla... Firefox Firefox Firefox.... BUT let's just say that I'm one of the hopeless masses that will more than likely hang in there with Windows. I'm running Me and just about have had it. Question is: do I shell out the $$$ to upgrade to XP now, or is a new release on the way? The website talks about Windows Vista: is this a new version or is it just an add-on? Thx; Elvisio "one of the huddled masses" Rodriguez
  16. kill kittens... Elvisio "hmmm... I'm off all day tomorrow" Rodriguez
  17. What about "know him, jumped with him, still wake up in the middle of the night huddled on the floor of a cold shower muttering 'can't get clean, can't get clean' because of it " Ah, you know you're our hero! Elvisio "south carolina exile" Rodriguez
  18. If just one scene makes the movie list-worthy, then: Just about any James Bond flick... Either Charlie's Angels One or Two (don't remember) XXX (skysurfing, BASE) Mission Impossible (Ithink) The list continues ad infinitum... Face it, any truly respectable action movie has skydiving in it! Thus, we rock. Elvisio "I say it and it shall be so" Rodriguez
  19. Gotta love a company that charges you for the act of saving them money on postage... Elvisio "sounds like skyride" Rodriguez
  20. N25GC... She's an oldy but goody... Elvisio "fabric doors rock" Rodriguez
  21. Running WAY off topic, sorry... The problem with US auto manufacturers is that until a couple months ago nobody (except maybe Billvon) in the US wanted a fuel efficient car. Plants all over the US are tooled up to produce big honkin' SUVs. Now that we realize that this change in gas prices is a change that isn't going to go away, everybody wants a gas sipper but the manufacturers need literally YEARS to make such a significant change in direction. So, they'll scramble to make the change, hopefully not go bankrupt, and spend billions of dollars on SuperBowl ads for SUVs in an effort to convince us to buy a vehicle we don't really want anymore... Elvisio "glad I got out of manufacturing" Rodriguez
  22. Either you are: 1.) Really OVERstating what you do, or; 2.) Really UNDERpaid. Ask for MUCH more. Elvisio "get 'em by the short ones" Rodriguez
  23. BUMP! Being the good little PW I am, I'll try bumping this one before starting a new thread. Here's the situation: Me and the girl have 'puters running Norton, ZoneAlarm, and are HARDwired into a Netgear router with wireless capability. The guy downstairs who shares our house moved in a couple weeks ago and is accessing the same router with the wireless connection, and has (heretofore) resisted my suggestions to set up ANY kind of encryption, right now the connection is just wide open. My (admittedly sophomoric) question: Is there any way somebody can "swim upstream" by using the wireless connection to access the router, and from there wreak havoc on my hardwired computers? Or is my neighbor's ass the only one he's hanging in the wind? Lemme know if I'm being too vague and you need more info... Elvisio "performing thread defibrulation" Rodriguez
  24. I've always given the opportunity to pull to my students, but must admit I don't spend the whole afternoon explaining it before the jump. I'd say about 2-3 minutes gets spent explaining the pull. The majority of my students fall into the "pulled it or were trying damn hard" category. Afterwords I give kudos to the ones that get the pull, also give kudos to the ones that don't but were trying, and "don't worry you'll get it next time" to the folks that just totally brainfart. Elvisio "still lovin' it" Rodriguez
  25. For the lawyers and/or parties involved: what is the approximate time frame for the intial hearings? Obviously, this is not going to happen overnight, just curious... Elvisio "like tarts better than torts" Rodriguez
