Traveler sues after her joke goes awry
skydiver30960 replied to BillyVance's topic in Speakers Corner
Drugs aren't dangerous? But then why did Crockett and Tubbs waste all that ammo bringing Colombian drug lord after Colombian drug lord to bloody justice every Friday night during my adolescence? Elvisio "season one is out on DVD" rodriguez -
Traveler sues after her joke goes awry
skydiver30960 replied to BillyVance's topic in Speakers Corner
But I guess the way I see it is there is no legitimate reason for her to be carrying flour in condoms in her suitcase, except to incite/divert/attempt to screw with the security staff. Your argument is that no wrong was done, since it wasn't really drugs? What if I carried a plastic toy gun through security and onto the plane? If I got away with that, what if I then decided to wave it around the cabin of the aircraft, just for grins? I could say "hey, it's not a real gun, no harm was done." No? Check both Bonfire and SC, I think there are a couple pro vs. con threads floating around about this show. Personally, I'll be clamoring to see it if it ever comes within a couple states of where I live... Elvisio "hmm.... I've heard of somebody being thin-skinned but DAMN" Rodriguez

I think it's a really sweet game. I was totally hooked until I got through it. There are a few sections that seem to be rather longer than they need to be, but not nearly as bad as some other games (cough, cough, Halo, cough). Just hang in there, you'll get the swing of it. If you get totally marooned in a "I'm walking around and don't know what the fuck to do" mode, there are walkthrough guides on the 'net to help you. But watch out, using the walkthrough as a guide can make things TOO easy if you aren't careful... Elvisio "Father Grigori is the man" Rodriguez

I'm not heading home for the holidays, but if I did I'd still be sitting at the kid's table for Christmas dinner. Hell, I'm only 31 friggin' years old: what do I expect, right? So at a all-family gathering, who passes you the gravy? (and don't EVEN go there, I know you all too well). Elvisio "in a different room, no less" Rodriguez

It would be great if it did photos. Then you could go to a news/entertainment website, download and print a pic of your most hated celebrity/political figure, and wipe your ass with it! Elvisio "need to boost my dietary fiber intake" Rodriguez

I work as a clinical assistant at the ER at the moment, so you REALLY don't want me posting any pics of that. But here's what I got to do earlier this year while volunteering with a nearby FD... my only fire so far. Elvisio "no structure fires yet, chompin' at the bit" Rodriguez

Don't worry, it's the same thing if you're running red and white lights too. It's funny because it's such a regional thing. Where I grew up, people were pretty good about getting out of the way of Fire/EMS/Police. I haven't run any in nearby Charlottesville VA, but I hear that the drivers there are awesome: just touch the lights and sirens and it's like the parting of the Red Sea they're moving out of your way so fast. But here, roll up on somebody with your lights and sirens running, and more often than not they MIGHT get out of the way EVENTUALLY, but you'll be sure to get a dirty look for makin' them do it. Dammit, I try. I try so hard to believe he made it but I just can't do it. I'd love someone to prove me wrong... The dude jumps in the dead of winter over the Northwest wilderness wearing a business suit and LOAFERS, for God's sake. How cold was it on the ground that day? How cold would it have been at altitude that day? How long would he have been able to last in that wilderness after a canopy descent through those temps? Hell, I get the shakes on a winter jump wearing layers of GoreTex and UnderArmor, with a face shield and thick gloves, pulling as low as I dare and spiralling down so I can get back down by the heater as quick as possible. I so desperately wish for the proof that he's alive, and the skydiving romantic in me always will wish for it. But if he wasn't a popsicle by the time he hit the ground, I have to believe he was within the hour afterword. Elvisio "maybe that's why I hate winter" ROdriguez

No problems hearing about it, especially since whenever she tells me that Aunt Flo is visiting that it means I'm not a daddy for another month (phew!). Interesting related side note: one thing that did freak me out was that for the LONGEST time (I mean YEARS, up until we officially moved in together) I wouldn't let the gf keep tampons in my place. It was a territorial thing, kinda like as soon as the tampons passed through the door then my "bachelor pad chi" would be disrupted. Dude, no screenshot here because all my Pimpin'crackers SUCKED! Damn, I'm so "pretty fly for a white guy" that I can't even get THIS right! Elvisio "any whiter and I'd be clear" Rodriguez

HA! Enigma was simply THE choice during my college days! Ah... the memories. Remind my again why I allowed myself to graduate? Now, my all time fav is "Figured You Out" by Nickelback. Definitely not a "make sweet love down by the fire" kind of song, but also DEFINITELY gets me (and the gf, from time to time) in the mood for some nastiness.... how the HELL could anyone EVER be a heroin addict?
skydiver30960 replied to weegegirl's topic in The Bonfire
So much of what one can and cannot do is defined by protocols (local or facility). At work I'm a CA (Clinical Assistant, read as: Orderly Plus) but I can draw blood, do EKGs, all kinds of happy shit, and I'm not EVEN a CNA. I'm an EMT-B at the moment and no I can't start a line, but I can give IM injections if necessary (glucagon). Virginia has the EMT-E(nhanced) between the B and I and they can start lines, and most states have EMT-I(ntermediate) who can DEFINITELY start lines and administer many IV drugs. So again, it all comes down to where you live and what they trust you to do... Elvisio "love that little pop when you get in the vein" Rodriguez -

Good deal! I'm back in school for Nursing too! Same spot: one semester down, four to go. My grades aren't posted yet though, just checked... I'm guessing probably a B, hopefully A. Elvisio "you want me to assess WHAT?" Rodriguez

how the HELL could anyone EVER be a heroin addict?
skydiver30960 replied to weegegirl's topic in The Bonfire
'zup Weegie? Setting aside the way-too-serious-for-my-current-beer-buzz topic of heroin addiction and sticking to the other side of the discussion, that of people and their fear of needles: Since I started working in the ER in August, I've been drawing blood for labs and cultures. I only get to do it a few times a day but it is, without a doubt, one of the COOLEST parts of my job. It's not about causing fear and pain in others... just that drawing others' blood always scared the bejeebers out of me and now that i can do it, it's a total blast. Also, hitting a vein (and doing it well, without digging around) is something every EMT (or nurse, or CNA, or tech) needs to be able to do: whether you're good at it or suck at it, either way, people can always tell. I honestly get a rush from drawing someone's blood and doing a good job at it, almost akin to pulling off a sweet jump. Elvisio "love to see the flash" Rodriguez -
Have you had a car accident driving to a dz
skydiver30960 replied to reddevil1's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Ok, great story, although being this far down in the thread means it won't get read much... it was the first and only time I've ever eaten roadkill! On the way to the DZ for a mini-boogie, I hit a deer with my jeep. Top and doors were off, I was lucky she didn't end up in the cab with me, but the windshield was smashed and the body a little dented. I rode the rest of the way to the DZ SUPER-PISSED, and got to thinking about a buddy at the DZ (a hunter for his whole life) talking about how one of his other buddies hit a deer, and then together they cleaned it and kept the meat. Well, who is the FIRST person I see at the DZ when I get there? Of course, my hunting buddy. Needless to say, we took a drive back out to the interstate, and grilled venison was on the menu that evening. Never before or since has revenge tasted so very good.... Elvisio "Redneck? Me? Nah!" Back when I was kneehigh to a grasshopper, they used to pull the tonsils and adnoids out of any kid that looked at the doctor crosseyed. But nowadays, doctors are recoginizing that they actually do serve a purpose in the immune response, and are only removing them if certain specific criteria are met. Not that any of you care, just spouting off some of the useless info that crams my brain... Elvisio "tonsilless" Rodriguez
